  1. Just my opinion....I think it's going to be alot harder then many think to catch a big bag with the lake up in the tree's...Of course, these guys are good, so some will shine, but it could be very tough for the masses. lol
  2. Bimmer, I'll bet you have paid your dues for thed year, all in one day. Smooth sailing from here on out I reckon...At least the rest of the year.... lol
  3. A friend of mine and his wife went up the James yesterday and didn't do much good on the bank, so they trolled small crankbaits over deep water (40 feet or so), and loaded the boat with really nice crappie to 15 inches....I haven't heard what crankbait it was or what line they were using, but, when the crappie are hitting crankbaits, they are biting GOOD....lol.....(IMHO)
  4. Sam & I left Gages in Long Creek about 9:30 and fished about 1/2 the day. We ended up with 5 keepers, a few shorts, a few short Largemouths, and one big white. We were trolling and casting swimming minnows. What a great day to be outdoors! All our crappie were females. Saw a few boats fishing shallower then us, but I never actually saw any of those guys catch a fish. I agree with Phil. They'll be up on the banks this week, if not right now. Thanks Sam for taking me out to your favorite crappie spots in Long Creek!
  5. Sam ! Please check your e-mail if you get a chance...... mF
  6. Phil, it looks to me like that walleye would go more then 24 inches....Of course, moot point now, but anyway you look at it, it's a beaut!! You can't catch them if you don't go, and I haven't been going...wahhhh...
  7. Seems to me that there are plenty of big stripers caught at Bull Shoals now, without Missouri getting into the act. I'd rather spend the money on a couple of commercial fishing companies to come in and remove the 5 kazillion gar that seem to be taking over BS upper AND lower lake. They set nets and, under supervision, are required to release evry fish except the fish named in their contract.... TOO MANY GAR !!
  8. Dayhem Bill......Congrats on the monster. I've been "on the pond" about the same amount of years as you, and I have NEVER broke the 9 pound "barrier".. lol.....2 over 8, and then I'd have to look at the book, but, the bigger the hawg, the fewer and farther between. Way to go man !
  9. I ran into a young fella I know at the grocery store in Kimberling after the event. He laughed because he and his partner were feeling pretty good about their 14 lb plus bag, and then B & B came in and weighed nearly 27 pounds !! Super job Bill & Bill !
  10. Absolutely beautiful !
  11. It's WAY earlier then I've ever tried. I have no tips that would be real solid info...Jason's idea's sound pretty good. I usually start in May, and fish for cats (Flatheads) until July or so. Good luck !
  12. Here's another "tool" for your lake level tool box...... http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/Reports/Data/Tabrock.htm I'll try and get the Beaver Lake link up here in a few.. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/Reports/Data/Beaver.htm I check the TR site everyday... We're back up about 10 inches from just before the big snow.
  13. Walleyes can't be far behind...Maybe not behind at all ! Tomorrow !! Thanks Bill for the report. (doesn't it burn your butt when you type and type and type and then lose it ?) Only happened to me a jillion times...lol Good Luck 2 Bill's !
  14. OK Lonnie, I'll bite...What are you referring to ?? Is skip jack a type of minnow ? As in bait ? I've heard of Skip Jack Herring, but I don't think I've ever heard the term used around here...But I lead a sheltered life and maybe everybody else knows to what you refer...
  15. Well, I'd still say you can't go wrong with the gel-coat part at Championship Marine. Be sure and talk to Tom.
  16. Another thing, our friend Scott uses Church releases on his offshore boards, but he has both releases (2 per board) rigged on the same mounting screw. What I would call one right side up and one upside down. He can pinch both releases with one hand at the same time to disengage the board from the main line. It's really slick. He fishes alone alot. He's drowned so many of his partners...lol
  17. I already had my rod holders when I heard abour the Folbe's....I use the Cabelas holders & I think they are called the HT 360. I had two of the Cabelas "Quick Draw" holders and I DO NOT like them....The Cabelas HT 360's are the same as Scotty's I think. Might even be the same as Attwater's......I have extensions that will fit any of my holders that I use when bottom bouncing crawler harnesses... I do have two Ram holders. They work fine but they are net grabbing sons of guns...I probably won't buy any more of those. I use Offshore Boards, but I own 2 Church Tackle Walleye boards. I haven't played with them yet. I did change out ALL my Offshore clips for Church Tackle clips....They are just plain easier for my fingers to work, especially when it's cold. You can buy the Church releases online. Oh, and they do hold the superlines just fine. I can run 2, sometimes 3 boards by myself, but it becomes WORK if you get 3 or 4 out there when fishing alone. With a good partner, we run 4 boards min. when trolling cranks. Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.
  18. We got 7 to 9 inches yesterday on the west side of Cow Creek...depending on where you check with the ruler. The Berryville, Ar. area got 9 to 10 inches....My friend that lives south of Eureka Springs got 17 inches.
  19. e-mail on the way bent. I have something you might like in the Ament Mold catagory.....My contact info is in the e-mail. mF
  20. I always thought it was right at 76 miles, dam to dam.... That's what Rick LaCourse's GPS told him during the ill fated FLW walleye tourney in 2005 or 2006. (Can't remember which year the came), but it was too late for the spawn and too early for the good bite. Well to be exact, he ran from Bull Shoals Boat Dock to Powersite.....
  21. Be sure and release all walleyes less then 18 inches long....Or da man might get you.
  22. I doubt the Holiday Island Marina was even there in 1965. I was right about the "dark ages"....I was 15, not in my twenties. Close. There is a band of tree's in Cow Creek that the tip tops were just barely showing at 881....In the years since, I've spooned alot of Largemouths out of that band of tree's. (up until the big die off). It can still be good for Kentuck's if the lake level / time of year is right. Wish I could get a glimpse of the lake at 881 now, but I wouldn't want it to stay there...lol
  23. Sometime back in the dark ages, I saw the lake at 881 I think.... I believe it was as low as it's ever been. I think I was in my 20's. There is a slight possibilty that it was 891, but I'm pretty sure it was 881.... I found tree's and stuff that haven't seen daylight for 35 yrs...Of course, back then, I had a Fish Hawk Flasher and at some point I got a Lowrance "Little Green Box".....My dad got one to, so now, I have two little Green Boxes I haven't used in 3o yrs. (Would sell one or both if anybody just has to have one). They both work great. They are powered by a 6 volt lantern battery. Got off track....sorry... I wonder how we could find out the record low elevation for Tablerock?
  24. Tablerock hit 9 feet low this morning and was still dropping. Could get interesting....!
  25. I know this is the Beaver Lake forum, but Tablerock hit 9 feet low this morning. And they are running quite a lot of water....If not continually, at least several hours a day, off & on.....
