We didn't see you Wayne. We were at the lower access at that time. Did you fish up near the mill? I caught 2 browns today and Basshunter caught a nice one before I left. Hope you can make it next year.

I'll bring an extra spool next time Scott. LOL There were a few left and they were hungry. Basshunter had one on nearly every cast. We'll see how long they last.

Had a great day today. It was nice meeting and fishing with both ScottK and BassHunter132. The weather was perfect and everyone caught fish. I will concede the win to Ollie this year. My tying fish came after he had left. Basshunter and I walked back to the trucks and fished a few holes and absolutely slayed them. I guess the fish weren't ready to feed until after noon just like last year.
  4. Very interesting. Thanks

I think you know my answer.
  6. I thought I'd put this up here before I put it on Ebay. New in box Hydrowave fishing system. Used and promoted by KVD and other professional bass fishermen. Asking $350 or best offer. They sell for $399.99 on the Hydrowave website and $389.99 plus shipping on Ebay. I would be willing to meet at a reasonable distance from Joplin or ship, added to agreed selling amount. PM me if you have questions or an offer. Thanks Take a look: www.hydrowave.com/freshwater/index.htm
  7. Great Video. I think that's the first time I've seen you hook yourself too. Well done sir.
  8. The poaching was pretty bad the first few years, but has been better the last couple. There is still some that goes on in areas that aren't in view, but for the most part it's a lot better. It's much better in the main park area.
  9. I've been impressed with all of the H2O products I've tried so far. I've heard good thing about the reels too. I've been meaning to check them out further. Looks like now's a good time.
  10. Nice work. Being near Joplin I've never heard of him. I guess I need to get out more.
  11. One more landed right after you left. 3 LDR's and 2 break offs on fish. I got tired of retying so I left about 3:45. Did anyone else hear the siren go off at 3 PM? Everyone just kept fishing after they looked at their watches. LOL
  12. Looking toward to hearing a report from you KC. Ollie and I were talking about fishing outside the park sometime this winter.
  13. There are times when I just want to go catch some little wild trout. I know I probably won't catch any bigger than 12 inches, but just knowing they are wild and surviving is a thrill in its own right. I'll agree that it's a passion. Even though I get a huge thrill when I catch a big smallmouth or even a big largemouth it's not quite the same.
  14. Thanks KC and Laker. It was a fun day. I fished right through lunch. Brian, did you fish zone one only or both 1 and 2? I stayed in zone 1 until I met up with Ollie about 2PM then we went down to zone 2 for about an hour. By then the fishing had slowed down quite a bit. I'm sure there will be more reports by the end of the weekend. I'm looking forward to hearing how the other parks fished.
  15. With 4 trout parks that opened today for C&R, I'm sure we have enough people on this forum to give reports for each park. What worked? How well was the park stocked? Were there many people fishing? And show some pics. I'll start off with a report from Roaring River. The fishing was great. Fast and furious for the first 6 hours. The river looked to be stocked a little lighter than last year, but some stretches had a bunch of hungry fish. I did see a few big fish, but not as many as years past. Most were 12 to 18 inches. At the whistle it was easy to find a spot to fish. Most holes only had 2 people fishing them unless it was a few buddies or a family. I tossed streamers for the first 3 1/2 hours and caught some good fish, no monsters but good fish none the less. I counted 31 on 2 different streamers. I don't have a name for the one that did the best, but was a conehead rabbit fur streamer with a white tail and an olive body. The next was a fish scull olive bugger. When the streamer bite slowed I switched to a 2 fly rig with an olive backless scud and a frenchie hot spot pheasant tail and started racking up numbers again. When that bite slowed I switched to a glow bug and caught a few more. It really started to slow down after 2:30, but I managed a couple here and there. I finished the day with a total of 63 trout landed with several good 15 to 18 inch fish, and a bunch of missed opportunities. My biggest fish total ever at Roaring River. A couple of photos.

No rules and no entry. Anything goes. It's the wild, wild west out there. Just kidding, but you do have to keep an eye on Ollie. I think he might keep a couple kicker fish penned up just to guarantee his win each year.

7th year??? It doesn't seem like it. I'll be there as usual. Looking forward to it.
  19. It's not too bad at all. Usually you can get a good spot and not have to share it with more than one other angler. The cold will keep a few away early. I've never had a problem finding a place to fish.
  20. I think I've only seen one bow hunter. He was walking near the creek and sort of startled me. I remember hoping they didn't think I was a deer tromping through the creek. One other time we got there just as a couple of muzzle loader hunters were dragging out a nice doe. Other than that it's been quiet. I have thought maybe about wearing a little orange though, just haven't done it.
  21. Great video. Thanks
  22. Wow KC. At least you have plenty of time to rest up before Spring fishing hits.
  23. Nice fish!!!!
  24. Nice. Perfect eatin' size.
  25. Yep and I'm looking forward to it.
