  1. Yes sir. I had a blast last year. It is great meeting up with a lot of OAF anglers. Not to mention the big fish that are in the river.
  2. So, what's wrong with making a stream fit more than one type of fishing experience??? The fly flingers, most of whom are C&R, can fish all of the stream after the stocking and the bait chunkers have their section that they can take their limit if they want to. Then, after the bait chunkers have raped their much LARGER section they can come on over to the C&R section and still enjoy catching trout. It really seems like a win win to me. It would take no longer for fishermen to figure this out than the 4 fish limit did.
  3. I'm looking forward to it. November 12th by my calendar.
  4. I always look forward to the CHILLY weather for no other reason than the trout fishing. White Ribbon steams start getting restocked, C&R at Roaring River, Crane Creek. I feel the same excitement for Fall and Winter fishing as I do Spring and Summer. My biggest rainbow from Crane was caught on a day that didn't get above 32 degrees. Besides, the cold weather keeps a lot of people at home watching football and I can have the stream all to myself.
  5. Happy Birthday OAF. It's my favorite destination on the internet.
  6. Very nice fish boys and Dad. The big fish are biting right now. I found some nice fish Tuesday evening after work. Biggest was about 3.5 lbs., but if you weren't in the thick stuff you didn't get bit.
  7. This is a link to the bait.http://www.wareaglelures.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=144 I picked it up a few years ago just because it was a little different and now it's become my favorite, although I do throw some of the other colors and they work great too.
  8. I'll have to see if I can find them and give them a try. Thanks Here's a link to the bait I'm talking about http://www.wareaglelures.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=144 The first one I bought just for the heck of it, but now it's become my go to bait. I have used several different color combos and they all have their time and place.
  9. I catch a lot of smallmouth on War Eagle spinnerbaits. I usually toss a 3/8 oz. bait. My favorite has a chartreuse/white skirt with a big gold willow leaf and a fluorescent orange colorado blade with either a white or chartreuse twin tail grub. All bass love this bait. It seems to work in all seasons for me. I really like all of the War Eagle spinnerbaits though. They are a little expensive, but it's worth it because they work.
  10. I've missed all of their games so far, except for half of last weeks game. I'm about half scared to watch a complete game, because I don't want to jinx them. They have a good team, but I'm still a little unsure about Cassel too. For a young team they look realy good. I'm glad KC finally decided to put some money and effort into having a good football team. Maybe someday they will be great football team. On a side note: I did get to see the end of the Indy/Denver game. I hate it when Denver loses.
  11. I really like the idea of breaking the streams up into C & R fly only and Wild West ( good name). I think Capp's would probably be the best for this since most of the water below the park area is very wooly with only a couple of foot paths. The only real way to fish it is by wading and that is sometimes a little tricky. As for Hickory. I would like to see the upper section from 86 hwy. down to the helicopter made C & R fly only year round. As it is now, Hickory has the same winter C & R rules as the trout parks. I would like to see the same for Capp's. When it works, it works really well. It also gives the trout an opportunity to spawn if the conditions are right. There are trout in these streams that do manage to avoid the worm and powerbait. They are just so spread out that unless you are able to spend a lot of time on the stream you probably won't know where to find them. I have caught at least one trout from Hickory each month this year. That's just a goal I set for myself last year when Hickory was given such a bad review last Thanksgiving. Our White Ribbon streams could definitely be better and I'm all for anything that would help everyone have a better experience.
  12. Sounds like a blast. I wish I could have been there.
  13. I read about that online this morning and saw it on the evening news. Most people were more worried about eating these genetically enhanced/modified fish than anything. I don't see the problem. We have been eating genetically enhanced/modified foods for a whole lot of years now,for instance there are too many vegetables to mention. The way I figure, we will have to either embrace this science or starve. Besides, there are some big Browns and Rainbows out there already setting records that were born in test tubes. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Nice fat fish. I'm looking forward to C&R.
  15. Killer picture.
  16. Just in case you guys are like me and only frequent the new topics. Happy Birthday Phil. Welcome back.
  17. I know you're better than that Hopper......
  18. You da man Leonard.
  19. What about this?????????????????????????? This is the one thing I have going for me, other than concealed carry!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Buzz= as of right now I have an open spot in the front of my canoe. MarkW your son is welcome to ride with me, and if he can't make it anyone else that needs a place can jump aboard. Undecided on what to bring.
  21. All of the Ozark seasons have a place for me. #1 Winter= Trout parks and White Ribbon fishing. I absolutely love this time of year. The colder the better. Chasing wild trout on unknown waters is the best. On the odd warm days the bass really turn on. #2 Summer= The best and most awesome time of the year for big hungry largemouth and smallmouth on the creeks and rivers. And the occasional trout. #3 Spring= Bass on the feed bag after the normal Ozark winter. And a few trout here and there. #4 Fall= Never really do very good on the creeks and rivers for bass this time of year. I am usually looking forward to catching Trout.( see a pattern here ) Basically what Chief said. All seasons are very good around here. And I seldom have a bad day on any water that I have access to.
  22. Sounds like fun. I would love to have been chunkin' spinnerbaits into the bushes this morning.
  23. It doesn't always have to be about the catchin'.
