  1. I am expermenting with them but build my own, pretty easy. http://freestateflyfishers.org/?page_id=844
  2. Go to any area fly shop and buy the book Home Waters, great resourse for access flow information etc. I usually fish Rim Shoals the most, their web site usually has some great information on fishing and flow information. www.rimshoals.com the number for the dam is 870 431 5311 if you can find out how many miles you are below the dam the river rises about 4 MPH, takes about double that to fall back out (depends on number of generators etc) so these are rough numbers. Lots of wading with up to 2 running but more important is the CFS. Look at the Rim web site and get the book you will be happy. g
  3. I am just not smart enough to come in out of the rain...
  4. Bull creek had several over the weekend but had some crowds will need some more warm weather or a rain to restock.
  5. This weekend March 19, 20 &21 if you can get to Mt. Home, AR there will be plenty of folks to show you tons of stuff, at the Sow Bug: http://www.northarkansasflyfisher.org/SB%202008.html g
  6. There is a long story about when I was tying a Dan's Turkey Tail Emerger size 20 and dropped but did not find a hook. I can tell you from very personal experience that a size 20 barb can hang a great deal of skin when hooked between underwear and the boys. That said a size 20 is not sufficent to shove on through and cut the barb off. For that reason alone, I pinch down then FILE all barbs. They should be illegal, cause a bloody mess, and a great deal of pain. g
  7. From Rim Shoals Resort, to add to Mr. Berry's report if you fish Rim Shoals C &R please: BEWARE!! An honest attempt to de-barb a hook in the Rim Shoals Catch & Release area is not sufficient enough to prevent receiving a citation. Our 15-year guest at Rim Shoals received a ticket Sunday evening for failing to adequately pinch the barb on a #16 pheasant tail flash back. The AGFC officer had a fleece-type patch on his shirt that he ran the barb through to make that determination.
  8. Terry Thanks, I would love to see it. Think I have a line on getting Little Red recorded. I think the times posted are eastern so think it will be 1130 pm Friday, 8 am Sat and 3 pm Sat afternoon. g
  9. Sometimes this time of year he gets some scratch and dent or blems that he discounts even more, might drop him a line usualyy gets a load in March
  10. This guy seems good and very competitive prices: http://www.ozarkcanoe.com/BoatListPage-Old...oes-Kayaks.html
  11. Doug I have a few fish going on wart around Cape Fair, watching for the wb & cRAPPIE. Dr. told me I can get in boat again but to be careful not to take any big waves..... LOZ is off limits. This week the rock may not be good. Weather looks bad, Have to fullfil family duties and go to St. Louis this weekend and drink green beer (wife is Irish). A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Maybe we can hook up the next week. G
  12. John Checked with the shop no longer availible. Those little buggers are a pain to pour but I can not find them with a big enough hook for crappie, so I pour them, had to dremmel out the mold for a bigger hook. If I see any around will let you know. G
  13. Will this be availible on the net, or would someone have a tape I could copy, or buy a copy from? I do not watch much tv so do not have cable, we have a 25 year old zenith console that works fine to me... this new box thing makes it get real good pictures and more channels. I would love to see the shows. Thanks g
  14. I love these from Jon Bardole in Libby MT. $25 bucks, can leave the reel on, and the attached DIVIDED liner keeps the rod from rubbing and you do not have rod socks to lose. He will usually cut a deal on shipping if you buy several. http://cgi.ebay.com/9-2-piece-Fly-Rod-Reel...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Michael Kyle if you are interested I can bring one by for you to look at. I know Jon supplies some shops in Montana. g
  15. Apparently there must be a report of GREAT fishing on Beaver Creek. The area from the whistle in Slough Hollow to the Maiden Hole resembled Bennett Springs on Openning day, only add about 20 boats to the mix, the banks were lined. I observed for quite some time, saw 2 crappie of less than 3 inches caught , but lots of casting, no catching and limited parking. I moved on. G
  16. My phone rings about 3 times a week from the NRA, as I am not a member. The last lady finally admitted to me she lived in Minnisota and did not even own a gun, simply a telemarketer...... yesterday I received a recorded message from Wayne LamPiere (sp) on the 500% increase. So if you are member you are probably not getting the calls. I do not belive the propaganda from either side. Besides in this economy I could not afford to join if I wanted to.
  17. Tonight, March 5, 2009 at the Missouri Trout Fisherman's Assoc. meeting at the MCD Springfield Nature Center there is going to be a presentation on Rod Building. Fly tying starts at 6, the meeting and presentation to follow. I am a memberand plan on being there, you are invited as my guest. I plan on attending then boucing next door to see Bill Babler's talk, should be a great evening of information. Also note Charlie Reading at Reading Fly Shop, between Bennett Springs and Lebanon is a great resource. g
  18. I have several friends who are gun dealers. Basically the same thing happened during the Clinton years. The NRA used the sales tactic that Billy and Hilly were going to get your guns. People went out and hoarded guns, instead of buying one they bought two. Now NRA says Obama and Nancy are going to raise ammo 500%. The gun and ammo dealers love it. The Reagan years were the only ones I experienced gun control, I had to sell my guns to surive. As long as you can make money you can buy anything.... tough times. I admit I am hoarding 22 ammo, so I can kill enough squirels and rabbits to weather this ression. I do not trust any of them.
  19. www.rimshoals.com says it pretty well.
  20. John I should be in Forsyth this week sometime. I bought both from a small tackle shop there they were hand made locally. Not the slickest I have seen but they work pretty well. G
  21. http://www.news-leader.com/article/2009903020374 Do not go there much, would prefer a launch tag, they can close the marina as far as I am concerned.
  22. Several years ago Mr. Dabblemont had a article in the Springfield News Leader on how few people snagged suckers anymore. He went on to tell of how no one else was snagging and he caught a limit on the Pomde Terre River, over Memorial Day Weekend. Problem was snagging season has closed on May 15 for the past 50 years..... I wrote a letter to the paper, it was not publised either.... so maybe critical of the MDC is not the only issues they do not publish. I wrote him off then.
  23. March 5, 6 & 7 on the Outdoor Channel Friday at 12:30 a.m. EST 11:30 pm CST Saturday at 9 a.m. EST 8 am CST Saturday at 2 p.m. EST 1 Pm CST Show 10: White & Norfork rivers, AR A small TU chapter won a big battle against a developer responsible for a major sedimentation event on the Norfork River. Frank gets the details…and catches a fish you will truly have to see to believe. Gary Flippin at Rim Shoals (www.rimshoals.com) tells me they caught a "Monster" Brown possibly the largest brown ever filmed on a fly rod. G
  24. Great to have you.. Maybe you can give me some idea. I do well on Bass and Trout, but Crappie and Wallye are tough for me. Especially upper BS
