  1. Quite similar to a clouser but easier and faster to tie. Size 6 (I use an aberdeen style hook available at wally world). White marabou tail. and White estatz wound up the hook and over the eyes to hide the tie in spot. Go fishin. Works great on crappie and bass too. Edit to add that I tie in bead chain eyes.
  2. Here is an easy one that will get rave reviews: 1. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch chunks. Roll chicken pieces in flour and deep fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels while making sauce. 2. Sweet and sour sauce: 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar 6 tablespoons of catsup (or ketsup lol) 4 tablespoons of lemon juice (the real stuff) 4 tablespoons of soy sauce 2 tablespoons of roasted sesame seeds (optional but makes it look original) Stir sauce until all ingreadients are blended and dip chicken in sauce. Lick fingers.
  3. That was the thought going through my mind as I left the house this morning. Weatherman forecasting a very blustery day with a potential for thunderstorms this afternoon-so I thought I would head to a local state park to free my mind and hopefully catch a few. Tied on a small plastic swim bait and made several casts with no luck. Wind was really blasting and making fishing difficult to say the least. Went back to the truck to relax and get a chew and ponder my options. Decided that on this small lake I could not get away from the wind so I just bucked up and went fishin. Third cast (fishing right next to where my truck was parked and a nice little 9 inch crappie inhaled the bait and ended the skunk (woo-hoo, first warm water species of the year). Over the next hour and a half I netted 5 more crappie and two bluegill. My confidence and smile were growing. Decided to make one more cast before going home to cut the lawn. After casting the wind really began to blast-my rig was blown as far to my left as it could go and I started a slow retrieve. 6 or 7 turns of the handle later my bobber disappears and I set the hook. Fish-on. This was no crappie. My ultra light rod was bent in half and the drag was singing. I worked him in closer and got a quick glimpse of him as he flashed once then headed for deeper water. Holy crap, it can't be. Finally worked my prize in and landed him. A 18 inch pre-spawn beautiful crappie! I am still smiling
  4. It has been several years since I have fished Pomme. But I too am after a muskie with a fly rod. Just now starting to check around for patterns and such and will pass on what I find out. In the meantime if anyone has any top secret fly patterns that you would never pass on to anyone else please tell me (I won't tell nobody).
  5. They'll get my lures when they pry my cold dead fin...oh wait a minute wrong topic. Sorry!
  6. I wonder what kind of fish would bite that thing. No doubt some kind of poor fish waaaay down the food chain. Kind of like a handout for fishies. Holy crap-free shipping too. Get um while they are hot
  7. TS: Without two sides, a debate is nothing more than hot air. This is a great site-don't get discouraged-come back and visit a spell.
  8. Best of luck. With your attitude and perserverance, good karma is coming your way. I can feel it. What chief said goes for me too. I don't get down that way often but when I do-you got yourself a boat rower.
  9. Must be my lack of interpretive skills whack em-but I didn't see a whole lot of nuetral and objective ideas flowing from your posts. In fact it seems to me that for someone who is not interested you have some decidedly one sided ideas concerning gun control. I dunno-maybe I misinterpreted?
  10. Been having probs here too. Took my puter in to have it serviced-all the files cleaned up and trashed all the junk I don't use anymore. Even had more memory installed. The end result was blazing speed except for when I log on to OAF. Not sure why
  11. Sweet pattern warlock. By all means, please let us know how you did with it.
  12. I have never been one to join anything but I will be a member of the NRA soon. Real soon.
  13. SUHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
  14. I think if we were to break this thread down into to sides with one side being conservation and the other side being political, we would find that many of us are in agreement. Most employees of the MDC are not politicians. They are conservationits, bioligists, agents and the like. Each and every one that I have had personal contact with have been for the most part professional and courteous (I have had a few occasions where I thought the agent was a little screwy but maybe just not a good day). On the other hand, politics throw a massive screw into the whole works. Budgets are totally screwy and are abused all over the place. I have seen at the federal level brand new sidewalks that have been poured dug up and re-poured simply to use up the $ in the budget. If you don't use all of this years budget-you will get less next year. Period. Get all indignant if you want but this is the way our screwy budget system works. When I was in the military, our vehicle fleet was followed very closely. Each visit to the motor pool was tracked as were all of the repairs. Each had a $ amount that were allocated to be spent on repairs and when that amount was reached it was auctioned off. Didn't matter how old (or new) it was, how many miles (or hours) it had on it. This is a $ world when it comes to federal and state budgets and it is rife with fraud/waste and abuse. They may seem like crooks to some of us but it has been that way for a long time and I don't see any sudden changes for the better
  15. Al: I am plan to inform my reps with my concerns on ALL gun legislation. Whether its high flyin-in your face-legislation or under the table crap. If that makes me dingbatty than that is a title I will hold my head high about. In my view, the time to complain ain't when the guns are gone. Jes sayin.
  16. Flyfshn: I concur 1000%. I have already contacted mine and am urging others to do so immediately
  17. Sheesh, just think-back in the day I used to study about revolutions. Now I get to be part of one. Hope I get a comfy jail cell. Bastiges
  18. I have got a Rio selective trout in a 5 wt and rio steelhead taper in a 8 wt. I like both of them a lot ( a noticeable difference between that and the cabelas prestige lines they replaced). BUT-they cost more than twice as much. Are they twice the line that the cabelas are? Nah, not in my opinion. Good lines, noticible differences just not THAT noticible.
  19. I do not know this gentleman but I do agree with the basic premise of keeping the DOC's feet to the fire so to speak. I would like them to be more direct in dealing with the sporting public and I would REALLY like them to confront political issues (like allowing a large commercial cattle/hog/chicken farm to operate near a public fishing stream). Maybe it would take something like this to make a difference? By the way, I like the job that they do in our state I just think they could be more forthright about it and I do sense a lot of political back stabbing on some issues.
  20. Shortages are still persisting. Our local walmart is getting more ammunition in-but it is still selling like wildfire-so it disappears the same day it comes in. Lots of folks hoarding.
  21. I thought overall, one of the best superbowls I have ever seen. Great excitement. I doubt tho that the idiots who spent all those $ for a 30 second add got their moneys worth and the halftime show was the worst in the history of mankind. Other than that-good stuff.
  22. Lookin for a few fiberglass rods to fill out my quiver. Particularly interested in the Berkley parametric Curt Gowdy PG-40, Heddon Pal 8383 (7 1/2 ft 6 wt) or a Fenwick 855 (cork reel seat). If you have any of the above rods and are interested in selling them pm me (or e-mail me:dalespaller.AT.charter.net
  23. Back in the early 60's I used to accompany some friends to a lake about 250 miles north of toronto (as I recall) Called Lake Wahwashkesh. Crystal clear water and tons of fish-walleyes, smallmouth rock bass and yellow perch not to mention northern pike and lake trout. Good times
  24. Geez, I get the feeling that sarcasm doesn't transmit well over the internet. Lol
  25. "Z" Bug sounds perfectly appropriate. Right on!!!
