  1. Berkley used to make a Frenzy popper. Fished fast it walked. It had crap hooks, of course, but it caught fish. I grew tired of modifying it about the same time they disappeared from the market. With good reason, people do not fish the Top Dollar. However, it spits and walks, if you find the right cadence, and it catches fish. If I can ever set up a good wake bait I will have a great arsenal.
  2. Drove over the Neosho and Spring rivers today. Both were quite a bit above normal and flooding nearby fields, chocolate milk colored, and flowing very fast with debris. Grand will be trashed for a while.
  3. Several/many of the people on this forum really know what they are talking about. Several of those have already responded to your thread. North Fork of the White River - drift boats and kayaks. White River below Bull Shoals dam - drift boat parts of the Meramac and Gasconade Rivers - jet boat Upper Bull Shoals and upper Table Rock, in the riverine sections - Alumnacraft - hunt walleyes Good luck and count yourself lucky to be there!
  4. Found the information you want on Walleye Central. https://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636026 Sorry Phil, but it was a very specific question.

    What's Cooking?

The secret to crisp fries with a creamy inside is to cook twice. Once to cook the potato through and then a second time to crisp the outside. With a deep fat fryer you cook the first time at barely above the sizzle point. You remove the potatoes and turn the heat up on the oil to just below smoke point. Then they go in only long enough to crisp. If you boil the potatoes, please be careful of the water and hot fat combo. If I were going to cook the first time in some thing other than the pan, I would try nuking the spears to done and then frying. You want the best animal fat in the world other than bacon? Try duck or goose fat. Right BH?

    What's Cooking?

Love the ingredients featured. And yes, adjusting to different packaging can be challenging. One problem. Melon with salt and pepper is the bomb. Prosciutto is the salty, but pepper would add the final touch. Johnsfolly has it right.

    What's Cooking?

I will put up a little teaser here. Yesterday I made a slow simmered ragu from left over lamb shanks. Tonight, having benefited like all stews from an overnight in the refrigerator, I will serve it with pasta shells. The salad will be ripe cantaloupe with arugula and a balsamic glaze. Pictures later.

I absolutely hate it when a bass inhales a bait and rips a gill. I use forceps to remove hooks, but sometimes even those cannot avoid the damage. I still release the bass. Maybe a miracle will occur. If not, something will feed on them.

Korean style miso/garlic/gochujang/honey marinade on cod with simple sides.
  16. The line rating on the rod suggests what load the rod can stand. As Bill suggested, if you set the drag to avoid tear-outs, you will also protect the rod from overloading. By the way, I run 10# Finatic on my Ned rod and it has a Revo MGX baitcaster. Works just fine. As mentioned above be sure you wind the line on with some tension to avoid digging in, and be sure you do not wind it on over mono. The mono squishes and gives under the braid which worsens the digging in problem. I use cheap braid fishing line as the base for the working line braid.
  17. If you go with Power Pro (a very good line) do not go over 20# If you do, you will find it difficult to break off. If you want the best I have found, check out this: https://finatictackle.com/

  23. I too have had all three. The Lowrance with the structure scan had the best imaging, but not by much. The extra money and set up made that choice questionable, unless you are hardcore or a guide. Once you choose the total scan transducer models, I cannot tell the difference. Do note that the Simrads are made by Navionics , the same company that makes Lowrance. Check to see if the Go9 is cheaper than the Ti because they are virtually the same. That is what I have had on my boat since my Garmin crapped out. (The Garmin replaced the Lowrance that was stolen. The Lowrance replaced the birds I ran for years. BTW, I found the Garmin warranty/repair service very poor.) My next change will be back to the 'birds. I plan to upgrade the troll motor to the Ultrex with the mega down image built in transducer and Ipilot link. This means a mega di bird up front and a networked si bird at the dash. Sadly that combo, with the Ultrex, runs a bit more than your $2000 target. I do not know if that information will help you, but it is what I know.
