  1. Went down to maramec springs on the 4th just to walk around, Boy was I surprised. Haven't been there this year and was shocked to be charged $5 just to get in. we got there at 3pm and we were only the 75th car in there that day. Went into the store and it was almost bare, the prices were marked out and higher prices were on the goods. We were thinking of coming down later in the week and pitch a tent on a site with electic~~ $36 per night ~~ W H A T? So we walked around and in all the years i've been going down there i have NEVER seen so much trash all over the place. Everything from candy wrapers, plastic bottles, bait containers, dead fish thrown up on the bank, etc. etc. We were shocked. Did not see any park helpers(workers) while we were there. Went up top of the hiway and asked the ol-boy running that campground what was going on with maramac. He said it was a shame what they have done to the place. Said the last JAMES had died and left the park to a trust run by a bank in New York. How sad is that. We picked up a small box of trash, but just as fast there it was, back on the ground. What is wrong with people? ? ?

  3. osage bluff marina, on truman lake, advertise that their gas is ethanol free.
  4. two that i have stayed at are osage bluff in warsaw and sterett creek before warsaw. osage you have to make reservations to be sure to get a site but sterett creek~~660-438-2280~~i think is private and you might have a better chance of a site. good luck.
  5. your about the 5th person that has said blue/white tubes. talked to a few guys at BPS and they also said that they had caught their crappie using blue/white. better get some friday. good luck guys
  6. was told today that the crappie caught on the south end of the lake were still full of eggs. they were staging off the banks about 5-10 feet out. i don't think the major spawn is over with yet. we're going down friday till tuesday so i sure hope the spawn isn't over. they said that they had a hard time getting onto the olake due to the high wind. good luck.

  9. my brother just got his ccw and it was $135.00 at a gun shop in imperial mo. his instructor recomends getting registered in~~i believe he said the state of utah~~ it is cheeper and the permit is good for longer than mo. plus your license is good in the same amount of states as mo. i haven't talked to him in awhile but i believe that is what he said. i think the gun shop is called top gun in imperial mo.

    the most used spices were~~ smoked paprika brown sugar garlic salt others were chili seasoning cayenne pepper onion powder cumin i guess trial and error is the best teacher. good luck

    i think with all those spices that maybe some of the flavors get lost. i took 12 chefs rubs and wrote down their spices then selected the top 3-4 spices and use my rub that way. i did try that greek spice on a steak last week and really liked it. thanks.

    Smoked Pulled Pork

    hey guys~~want to thank you for all the suggestions and replies about smoking the pork butts. they turned out fantastic. woundup smoking 3-8lb. butts for 17 hours. at midnight friday the internal temp. was only 180-185 so i took them off anyway. let them rest in a ice chest(no ice) for about an hour or so. started chopping them up~~very little fat left~~ and put it in the frig. till noon on saturday. then put them in a roaster added 3 cans of beer and let them heat up until 3pm then started to eat. 31 people with 26 adults and everyone thought it was the best the ever had. so thanks for all the input. bojack

    thanks guys for the input. i'll be doing this on the 15th for about 25-30 people. one question~~with all the molasses,brown sugar and real syrup, doesn't that make the meat to sweet and take away from the smoke flavor of the meat? never done this so you guys know best but just asking. again~~thanks for all the input. i'll let you know how it turns out.

    Smoked Pulled Pork

    looking for some input about smoking 2 8lb. pork shoulders(butt). i've got a large smoker that burns wood in the fire box and can hold 6 or so pork butts in the smoker box. never smoked a butt before so i'm looking for some do's and don'ts about this. i've smoked 6lb. salmon for christmas and it was fantastic. i'm always looking for new ideas. any help or suggestions would be welcome. thanks. bojack
