  1. Lost would be the same as "displaced". Those are some pretty wild numbers being tossed out. The only way to really know is for the MDC to electroshock it. We need some hard scientific data, not perceptions. Perceptions can change from day to day. I recall a report you posted from earlier this year that had something along the line of 70% smallmouth, 20% largemouth, and 10% spots. You also stated that you thought the tide had turned and the smallmouth was making a come back. Has there been any population studies in the last few years?? Sounds like a great project. I would like to see a five year study that could shed some light on what the trends are. Of all of the reports you guy's have posted from those waters this year, I don't recall one mention of spots. I would assume that if 50% or more of your catch is spots, someone would had said so.* * Whoop's. Just read Blazerman's report. And what is wrong with "mixed bag fisheries"? You make is sound as if it is kind of low life fishing. I know you have only fished this are once or twice, but there are some quality smallmouth streams here that rival any stream in the state with numbers. I won't even try to pretrend that these stream can compare on size though. Your streams definetly have some super nice fish. You know, with all this winter bass migration, maybe they took a wrong turn. The Mother Ship is always evolving and not always for the better, according to us.
  2. I don't know of any water system in North America that has lost its population of Smallmouth to the Kentucky Bass.
  3. On this weeks fishing trip, if it wasn't for Kentucky bass, it would have been a very dismal day. But because they were active and feeding, we had a pretty good day. Most fish were in the 12 to 14 inch range with one going 16.5. There were a few LMB's scattered in but, 98% were Kentuckies. At the end of the day, we scored in the neighborhood of 35 or 40 a piece. Over the years floating these rivers, I have days like this before. And it always seem to be in the spring and fall when water temps are changing. It seems to really trigger these bass and they just go crazy. It was really a thrill to see them come darting out of every direction to slam our cranks. A lot of them hit it as soon as it landed. Others you could see dart off of the bank towards the bait. I even seen a couple come out from under my canoe and take it just as I was about to pull it out of the water to cast again. It can pay off big time leaving the bait in the water just a few extra seconds!
  4. Also, depending on your location, one would have to add the Smallmouth Bass.
  5. I totally agree. I don't see color, I see attitude. And I react accordingly. Just as the Christians hate the Atheist and the Atheist hate the Christians, they still, in my mind, and according to the Constitution, still have to tolerate each others right to say so. If that makes any sense. The best thing to do is ignore them. Don't give them an audience to spread their message of hate.
  6. I understand exactly what you are saying. We just have differing opinions. How is the James looking now?? Haven't fished it in a couple of months.
  7. And how many towns also have laws against posting flyers on utility poles? Yet you still see them. If you think that ordinance put a complete stop to the placement of flyers on vehicles under the guise of litter enforcement, it is not I that needs to remove a cranium from the anal orifice. Had these been flyers for veteran parade would you still be this vocal? Honestly??
  8. No we wouldn't. Nobody would have said a word. And you and JD wouldn't have either. Not a peep out of me either. I think he said it was an uphill battle and probably not winable. No sense in wasting money. I could care less if the kkk ceased to exist at this moment. My only point is we have to afford the same freedoms to all individuals and groups whether we agree with them or their message. Its the same with flyfishermen. They should be outlawed! They do nothing but hog all the good holes. Play fish to near death to make sure everyone sees them. Have funny names for equipment just to be different. Like bobbers or all of this 6X and 7X crap. Dress in the nuttiest outfits that make them feel like they are....like they are...hell I don't know waht they think.
  9. I guess when you are parked on public property or the property of an owner who has granted permission. At that point your only other choice is to not park there. Or simply do as I do and toss it in the recycle bin and go on with my life and leave others to live their's.
  10. Such is a byproduct of freedom. Anything less would be communism.
  11. I saw that on the news and it reminded me of when my wife and I got married. I took a 3x5 card and wrote our wedding date, our names and address where we were married and a out line of the state of Missouri witha little star in the sw corner. I put it in a sandwich bag and tied it to the string from one of the ballons. We went outside of the church and launched it into the sky. Right into the power lines. That should have given my wife a clue about me right there. Undeterred, I ran back in and repeated the process. This time it was a successful launch. A few weeks later we received a letter in the mail from a couple in Arkansas that found our ballon and message. To our shock and amazement, in just a few days, we again received another letter from a man in Moss Point Mississippi down near Gulf Port. He was fishing and noticed the balloon in the tree. Since the fish were not biting, he decided to climb the tree and get the balloon. He bid us better luck than his fishing.
  12. I remember many years ago, black hair bass jigs was about all you could get. Same with the Uncle Josh pork. Always black for 95% of the pork they made. Some purple I think. That was all I used in the winter. Then I discovered those that had a streak of bright yellow hair. Thought I died and went to heaven. Then sometime in the mid to late 70's, I saw, and used my first rubber jigs. Oh man I thought they was the bomb. They were always black or brown. Then they showed up with a streak of either blue, yellow, or orange. Oh man, I was in heaven! And I just loved the live action rubber. I still have some of those but, I doubt they are useable.
  13. Probably depends on the manufacturer.
  14. We have one stream over here that you can consistanly catch 100 a day. And if you were to fish it from sun up to sun down and really work it, I am positive you could double that. And when you get your rear over here, I'll take you there. PM your # and I'll send you a couple of pics and video of it. But we were not on that stream and that is why I say it was such a great day. The stream we were on is capable of great numbers but the fact that so many, of what I call nice ones, Al won't even take a picture of them , was really icing on the cake for that day. Plus I had someone paddling me around and putting me on the good fishing!
  15. Absolutely!! Took a trip a couple of weeks ago in a downpour, we literally couldn't bail the canoe out fast enough, and the fishing was some of the hottest I have had in years. Over 100 smallmouth a piece. The killer part was I caught 25 that went 15" or greater. Catching that many that size over here doesn't happen that often.
  16. The hottest bodies of water right now are rivers. I mean smoking hot!
  17. Aw no that is ok. It is all out of my league right now. Too chicken to take the leap. I wouldn't mind seeing it online if there is a link so I can dream about it too.
  18. Got a link for that one???
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Missouri-Trout-Fishing-RV-Park-Campground-next-to-State-Park-National-Park-/330765095356?pt=Commercial&hash=item4d0322d1bc Seems like a good place to start living the dream.
  20. I believe the last 3 quarterbacks for Mizzou are in the NFL. And that is not all. There quite a few Tigers now playing in the NFL. Maybe the NFL see's something the SEC doesn't.
  21. I wouldn't mind mounting that little display myself.
