  1. Ahh yes, the proverbial second gun. Never leave home without it and the never run out of lead hollywood clip. I have visions of Wile E. Coyote. I only fish Crane in the during a three month period in winter. I haven't been fishing any small streams this summer. I'll leave them alone until next year.
  2. As long as you keep it on YOUR hip. As I recall, four of us ran into you one time and you freely handed it to me when I asked to see it. Lucky for you, I guess, I am a nice guy. Could have been the end of ol' Ray Ray. But now that I have new info about the egging of my truck.....
  3. A couple of thoughts come to mind. My truck once got egged at the take out. Sure wish I would have been packing so I could have evened the score. Unless you guys are fishing one handed and holding your piece in the other, I figure the chances of getting the first and maybe even second, third and possibly fourth shot off are pretty slim. Who's gonna blame me for wrecking this thread?
  4. You should try it. Wrap in foil, grill about an hour. When it feels soft and mushy, its done. Salt and pepper to taste. I don't mind raw turnips, but grilled is outta this world.
  5. You ever try grilling your turnips?? Dang fine eating right there!!
  6. Yeah?? Which one was you thinking of??
  7. Odd?? Otters and trout, or any other fish, used to live in complete harmony before we came along and fixed everything.
  8. I like otters just fine. They are native. Trout not so much.
  9. That must be some goooooooooood chicken. That was a longass drive wasn't it?? There is a gas station in El Dorado Springs that has a sign but I can't find the chicken. The grocery story at the west end of town has some good chicken. I like Church's Chicken too. They don't have it around here anymore.
  10. Awesome job!!! You did a great job telling the story with the pics too!!! Encore!!!!! Encore!!!!!!
  11. I used to get to fish with a long haired hippie that always brought that along with some of his homeade hot sauce. Holy Cow was that stuff good. I always wanted to pig out on it but kept my composure. Seen him cut is thumb pretty bad the last time I fished with him. Hope it healed up ok. I think you may know him. For 20??? That is a lot of crawdads. Not much left for the smallmouth. I have seen that sign at a couple of places and really wanted to try it. But everytime I go in, it is never there. Maybe they don't sell it anymore.
  12. That explains why you always fish alone! I always figured you for being a bad shot. Plus they gave up their secret fishing spots. I was kinda surprised by that. That one ol' boy just couldn't shut up about it. Had that happen once before, and its funny that the person was from the same area too, and went and checked the info out. It was spot on! So I guess I'll have to check on my new info too.
  13. Looks to me like everyone understood but you. Ha ha! Let me help you a little. It is a sweet tasting brownie but not one you stick a candle in. Because it is a brownie from the creek! Good eats!!
  14. No you ding dong! Sticks and STONES! Sticks and stones! Good grief.
  15. Shouldn't all of the other meat hunters be taking home stringer loads these fish?? I am pretty positive they know the rivers as well or better than anyone. Hey Oneshot, I have some baked brownie recipes if you need one. They are sweet but, they ain't the ones put a candle in!
  16. Late season melons are looking great. But I ain't tucking my maters in.
  17. Over the years here, I think we have covered just about every subject even remotly related to fishing and some not even close. Some we have covered many, many times and I am sure we will cover them again. But I would like to what you pack to eat on a days venture? I have a scheduled trip for tomorrow and while I was cutting up a variety of fruits to pack along, I started wondering what everyone else packs for the day. I have packed everything from fried chicken, a variety of sandwichs and rolls ups to items to grill over a small fire, fruit, beanie wienies. At one time or another, I have probably brought it along. So what are you packing!!!
  18. Some things are better left alone.
  19. Talk is cheap and so is the price of pork!
  20. Odd you didn't mention the 2008 Cotton Bowl game where Mizzou spanked the pigs. Seems the Tiges even set some all time records in that game. Here is a link. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=280010008
  21. I knew you wouldn't understand the question.
  22. So I shouldn't report a meth lab because I "may" have been trespassing??
  23. I have been on the Missouri River and the Niangua the last couple of weeks and I saw them.
  24. Somebody answer the dam PHONE!
  25. Before we get a buch of conspiracy theories going, I ran into these fellas earlier this year. Yes they are on Praters land. And yes, when I rounded the corner, I thought they were looking for me. I had a very pleasant converstation with them. They are there to try and keep peace between the floaters and land owners. They are sympathetic to both. They understand the right to float the stream and that some lee way must/should be given by the land owners. And on the same token the floaters have to respect the land owners rights. I see it as a good thing for both. They are not out there all week. They are not harassing floaters. They check compliance with applicable laws and are friendly to the extreme. Don't know how many times you have floated it latlely Ollie, I thought you hated Shoal and would never fish it, but there are quite a few floating that section now. At least they are being proactive about it and staying on top of it instead of having to be reactive and it turning into one of those other rivers you all were bitching about just a little while back.
