  1. YES!!!!!! Finally, I have gotten through to someone!!!! That is the Ozark river fishing experience!!!!! She will give up her secrets but not for free. You have to put in your time and respect for her or you will be soundly rejected. Now, we can have one more discussion on how to obtain the larger fish that is fair to all users of the resource and better for the resource, if you would like. But in a different post maybe.
  2. So then what stops a jet boater or jon boater from just getting out of the boat for the pic and claiming he was wading??
  3. Oh. The way you presented them as opposed to the other sponsors made it sound as if they were really involved. It's gonna kinda suck though if someone wins and can't attend the meeting due to distance and such.
  4. I consider 100* days hot. And we had about 2 months worth last year. Funny thing about that was, I never heard a word out of the climate change naysayers. Nor have I heard out them this year so far. But you usually don't. The only time you hear from them is when you get a dusting of snow in January. Boy, they won't shut up then.
  5. And niether will all trees and brush that get washed down. You have now created a dam that would make any beaver envious. Take a look at some of the banks on lakes that take a beating not only from boat traffic but, from the waves from wind that are constantly beating it. Trees are are undercut and falling in too. And floods have zero erosion effect on lake banks. Those old timers you spoke to understand the problem. And they are spot on too.
  6. What work is the MSA doing in this???
  7. I am starting to worry about you Al. I understand where you are coming from but,......... They were running PWC's on Spring River at Carthage back in the late 80's and early 90's. Not so much anymore. No crowds to watch them so they can show off.
  8. Mild summer?? Where were you at???
  9. Like Al, I have been tossing a 6 inch worm for over 30 years now in all the creeks I fish. Only I do use the curly tail. I haven't noticed that one color out preforms the other. I used to always texass rig them. In the last 10 years, I started using a jig head. I still occasionally texass rig them but not very often. Try tossing a 3inch soft craw next time you are out.
  10. Just making sure I am keeping up to speed here. We want to ban: Giggers Jet boats River Dorks Live bait users Meat eaters Spotted Bass Non-MSA members. (I was just kidding, don't get any ideas!)
  11. Let them have jets and what have you. Just put a 'No Wake" restriction on all unimpounded waters except the MO and MISS. Wakes from boats cause a lot of damage to the rivers.
  12. Thanks. Looks like I need to do a little proof reading and some spell checking though.
  13. Fishingswmo and I took the boys out for some hot brownie fishing in the waters of SWMO on Saturday. The water had a really good color to it, just slightly tinged from the recnet rains. It also had dropped quite a bit, though it still had a pretty good flow to it. We had lots of sun from the bluebird skies. In fact it was warm enough that we stopped a few times and swam. Yeah, swimming in March!! At our put in, I struck gold on my first cast. I looked at Fishin' and said I hope this is a good sign. We had talked earlier about how all the guy's on the east side were struggling the last few days on the river. We were really pumped and didn't want to experience the same. As we headed down stream, it seemed as if though, we would struggle. Corndawg kept fairly busy cathing fish. Most of his fish came from strainers with a deep pocket. He biggest of the was a 3lb 2oz LM. Fishin also stayed fairly busy throughout the day picking one up here and there. His largest was a 16 inch brownie. Most all of the brownies came from the bottom end of riffels. All were fat with eggs too. At the end of the day, we all scored about 15 to 20 fish apiece. I didn't catch any big ones myslef, a couple 14 inchers was about all. And most of my fish came in about the last 2 hrs of fishing. I caught most of my fish on cranks. I couldn't buy a bite on soft plastics for some reason. Fishin caught most of his on soft plastics. Corndawg scored with both. So all in all, we ended our 10 1/2 hour oddesy with about 60 fish between us. Not the day we were hoping for but, not as bad as it could have been.
  14. You guy's are a mess. So glad I am out west.
  15. Do you have a link to that story?? I'd like to read it.
  16. I guess if you like using the same thing over and over all day. I like to mix it up a little and see how many different lures I can catch them on. Another game I play sometimes is once you put it on your rod, you can't change until you catch a fish. That can get pretty frustrating some days. Then at the end of the year, take a look back and see how many lures you caught fish on.
  17. I would venture to say that tan is a variation of brown. I have the same publication and yeah if you sit and study the colors in the close up pictures that are presented, you could disern slight variations. Now have Mary hold it about 3 feet away and tell me what color they look like. And yes you may use your glasses.
  18. I have always done it that way and haven't lost anything. That I know of.
  19. Yes I remember that very well. Good times!!
  20. You got a ring in your nose too. I keep thinking mine is gonna wear out...some day!!!
  21. Just curious as the the strapping of your rack??? I am not a fan of red canoes but, I have to say, that is one very sharp looking canoe!!! Did you paint that yourself?? I like the silver on the bottom runners too. That craft just has the classic older color look to it.
  22. Except for the cave crawdad, they are all pretty much brown ain't they??? But you do bring up a thought I had yesterday. I have caught fish on some pretty wild, totally un-natural colors while tossing a crankbait. But they seem to be a little more finiky when it comes to bottom crawlers. Colors may be worthy of another topic for discussion.
  23. I never have been a big fan of moving it back and forth. I mean can you imagin after just fighting for your life and you are trying to catch your breath, you are being jerked back and forth. I know we think it is best for the fish to get some water moving over his gills. I just think it is better, and less stress on the fish to just release it and let it dive to the bottom to rest. And I think age and size plays a big role in this.
