  1. So even a bigger waste of tax money????
  2. I should have stated this was on Hickory. I don't recall the number of trout we caught that day.
  3. It won't be long and we will be having days like this again. This was early one Saturday morning in Feb about 4 years ago. Temp was 18*. We only fished for a couple of hours. It wasn't because he was cold though.
  4. I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I have fished many, many miles of water that ain't in his book and I was never disappointed in scenery or fish. I was sort of disappointed in their book. There is lots of good info but also some that is bad. Well not really bad I guess just not accurate. But then when you see the number of books they have put out, there is no way they have fished all of these waters.
  5. For $20 you will be money ahead to buy a DeLorme Gazetteer of Missouri.
  6. I have had a few this year. Last year I had a few 100,000!!!! My dad in Carthage has 4 or 5 traps and dumps a 5 gallon bucket a day. And I am not kidding when I say a 5 gallon bucket. He dumps them in Srping River for the fish to eat. I bet the cats in there are loving it!!
  7. I have no use for canned huntes of any type and that includes Ted Nugent. I love his music but when it comes to hunting he sucks!!!!!! In fact I don't like the way alot of these hunters act in front of the camera on all of these hunting shows. Which I don't watch much of anymore. Hell it is getting to where I don't watch much of the fishing shows anymore either. I have a few that I turn into sometimes though. We seem to be loosing our ethics for the sake of the almighty $$$$ and a TV show. Screw that!!!!!
  8. This is nothing new. These have been out for a few years now.
  9. I am glad he does post this info. We would do well to keep up with what is going on around the world as it pertains to conservation in that we won't see this on the evening news. And this does appear to hit a little close to home as he stated about the state of Texass. Not busting your chops Andy, just offering a different perspective to view it in.
  10. I like to make what I call a smoked potato salad. Brush about 4 taters with bacon drippings. Grill for about 1 hour or until they feel soft. Which ever comes first. Keep an eye on them as you don't want them to burn and get black on one side. Just keep turning them occasionally. When done, put in a bowl and mash up to your desired consistancy. I like mine a little chunky, the wife likes hers whipped. Mix with your favorite tater salad mixings. I use bacon, green onions, black olives, roasted red peppers, 1/2 cup miracle whip or a dressed up ranch dressing, spicy brown mustard salt and pepper to taste. For best results, as they say, make a day a head of time. It just gets better everyday its in the fridge!
  11. Oh baby, have I put some river miles on that or what?? I went out to the truck the other morning and she had loaded her self just like a good bird dog that knows the opening day of quail season! No harm, he is just playing.
  12. Last weekend Corndawg and I took a little float with yankee boys, KC and Drew, and we threw in our flyrods to have a little fun. Now we don't normally take them with us unless we are fishing for some trout. But we wanted to catch some brownies on the fly just to say we had. It was a lot of fun and we will probably do it again sometime. Hope you enjoy.
  13. Steller report OTF!!! That story is what the Ozarks are all about. Was that a Rebel Craw or a Wee Craw that you used?????
  14. This is the same fish. Look at the "lite" spot on the soft rays of the dorsal. No chance in hell two fish have that!
  15. There was some discussion some years ago that electroshocking was a possible source of this in small fry. I haven't followed up on this to see how the testing of this theory came out.
  16. I couldn't tell ya. Of the times that I have kept a bass it has been in the 10-12 inch range from MDC lakes. Now you get you a mess of them, and you got some good eating. I don't like the bigger ones.
  17. I'll do that!
  18. Oh I see them all the time in brownies when I fish rivers east of the James. But I just fry them up anyway. They just fry away in the hot grease. I wouldn't worry about them.
  19. There was definite "attempt to take". But there was not "attempt to possess". He must be in the slammer as this case was surely tried already. I wonder why the cocksure little stud isn't so mouthy now??????
  20. Sounds like a really great trip. I have been wanting to hit the Kings for a couple of years now and I just haven't pulled the trigger. A few of were going to do it this year but just haven't yet. Thanks for the report and pics. It looks and sounds as awesome as my dad, who has floated it a few times, has told me it is.
  21. I wouldn't skip it if you have never been there but, I wouldn't have very high expectations either. This hot summer will be butal on the few trout left in there. But go and get a good look at it. Think about it the images that will be burnt in your mind. Then come back in late Novemeber/early December and have a ball! And go ahead and work the spinning rod a little. There is always a chance at catching one. You may also luck into some smallmouth.
  22. Who the heck are you trying to kid?? You just spent 10 days in row on the water!!!!!
  23. This week I have a mini series of pics of the time I taught Dylan to fish with a plastic worm. And this is the first fish he caught. Not bad.
  24. Great looking trip!!! I wasn't able to get all the pics you sent me the other day. The last two were too big.
  25. I don't that there is really one bait better than the other when it comes to channel cats. They are the buzzards of the wet world. I don't know of any food source that they will turn their nose at waiting for something else. I am speaking of natural baits though. And after saying all that above, I do believe that natural baits will out preform manufactured baits. But that has just been my experience over the years. And more so with river cats. Lake cats can and do operate a little different. Actual results may vary though.
