About a month ago I was visiting relatives in Louisiana and of course we had to do some bass fishing. We fished a small lake and found the Hybrids and Stripers schooling. Very awesome sight of several acres of Stripers busting shad! We caught about 60 in the 3-5lb range over three days of fishing. We caught them on wakebaits, flukes, rattle traps and white swimming minnows. Just not as many as it seemed we should for the way they were busting. I very seldom catch or fish for stripers, mostly by accident while bass or walleye fishing. My question for some of you who fish for them frequently. Do you have some suggestions on baits for these schoolers and do bigger stripers tend to hang below the schoolers like largemouth?
I have another trip scheduled down there the weekend after the 4th and have heard they are still schooling early mornings.
Thanks for any suggestions.
