Touche' Mic. Hopper, Those are actually the rods I was looking at. Hard to beat TFO for the price. Kyle

I have looked through plenty of new rods and have an idea of what I am looking for. I just thought I would see if anyone had any used stuff to get rid of. Kyle

Looking to buy a streamer rod. I really like the TFO rods and their price tag. Not trying to waste anyone's time here, so I'm looking to be under $200 each. I know there are a bunch of you fisherman out there that have more rods than you can use, so I thought I would look here before going out and buying a new one. Thanks for looking Kyle

Good Performance 3 Wt Fly Rods Under 100$

I am on the TFO bandwagon. I have a 7'6" TFO Finesse series, it is a slower action rod, but I like it a lot. Kyle -

I pretty sure the law clearly states "separate creels" are necessary. That being said if they were using the same stringer, they may want to avoid it in the future. Kyle

A couple buddies and I went this weekend in around Sedalia and Grand Pass this weekend. We got a few, but were having a hard time decoying them (mostly adult/smart birds I think). Planning on going again this weekend. If anyone has a field they are tearing up and wants the "white devils" shot, I'd be happy to come help you out. Thanks Kyle

My sister has a friend that has a couple peacocks and has given me several feather that I have used the herl of off. I want to ask for some swords, but I don't know what, or where these feathers actually come from. I know they are cheap at the fly shop, but there is just something about finding the materials for flys in "nature", squirrel tails, pheasant feathers, goose biots, duck feathers, ect. So what feathers are they? I think if I am going to ask for some swords I should be able to explain what and where they are. A google search was no help in finding a description, but there are plenty of places that want to sell them to you. Kyle

The real key to taking the strong taste out of goose is getting all of the blood out of the breast meat. They are migratory birds that are designed to be able to fly long distances without becoming tired. In order to do this they have a high amount of arteries and capillaries to move a lot of blood. ( I know, not exactly want you want to think about something you are attending to eat) Well, you have to get this blood out of the meat. Just soak in water for about 2 days changing the water often (when it turns pinkish or redish). Then just cut into nuggets and marinade them in teriyaki for a day (all of those arteries and capillaries you got the blood out of soak up marinade very nicely). Put them on skewers with some peppers and onion and grill. Goose kabobs = good stuff. P.S. Make sure you get all of the steel shot out no matter how you cook you waterfowl. They hurt to bite down on a lot (more than led shot). Kyle

Were after geese up here already. Saw tons this weekend. Me and 2 buddies killed these sunday afternoon in 15 degree weather with 10-20mph wind, should have had a few more.

I know the brown go through the motion I have seen the redds, but I have never seen the rainbows. Maybe I am there at the wrong times. Also, I have heard there are rainbows that spawn in the fall/winter and another strand that spawns in the spring. I have also heard we have both in the state of MO. I wonder MDC could breed a strain a Browns that would spawn at a different time of year, say winter, when the water temperatures would be cold enough to sustain the eggs? Just a thought, I know messing with mother nature is an up hill battle, but if the fish could eventually sustain themselves in MO stream it might be worth it in the long run. Anybody have any thought? (silly question, I know) Kyle

Hunted South Dakota opening day and knocked them dead. First time up there and it was awesome. Heading to Iowa the first weekend of December like we have every year for the last 20 something. Also will get a few quail hunts in Missouri. I love to bird hunt. If anyone need a hunting partner with a pretty darn good pointing dog let me know. Kyle

I leave tomorrow night for my first ever pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota. I have hunted Iowa and Missouri for pheasant and quail since I was 12 and have always heard about the vast numbers in SD. I can't wait, but don't really know what to expect. In Iowa we hunt all day to get our 3 birds most days. In SD you can't start until 12 and most say you are done in an hour or two. Anyone been to SD and have any stories they would like to share? Also going to be stocking up on some pheasant tails and feathers. Kyle

They Hybrid by far. Those are actually the biggest hybrid and trout I have caught. They hybrid pulled like crazy and I just kind of pulled the trout in, really kinda disappointing.

When you buy a factory built fly rod everyone says to take a reel and cast it first to see if it fits you. Makes a lot of sense to me, but when you build a rod you obviously cannot test how it casts. So what is the test? I guess you have to wait until it is finished to test it, but if it is not what you are looking for you are kinda stuck with it. Any thoughts? Kyle

I have the Lefty Kretch Finess 3wt. I like it. It is a little slow, but casts well in tight spots. Also, it is a 3wt and will not throw anything with much weight to it. Also, very hard to roll cast with, but still a lot of fun to fish with. I guess on smaller water roll casting is not much good because as soon as you beat up the water you might as well move on. So, that should not be a problem.

I'll agree with the previous posts. Why can't we get a quality fly shop in St. Charles county? And don't even think about saying bass pro or cabela's! Kyle

After talking with my father about it I think the two things in the middle picture are for holding a blank while wrapping it. I was told the things in the bottom pictures are for having extra support for a rod blank. There were also c clamps in the box for holding them in place. JD, What do you mean hold spools opposite the vice?

I may need some help from some senior members of this forum to identify these tools. I recently became interested in rod building and remembered going through my grandfathers (died in 1990 or I would have asked him) fly tying kit and seeing these. I think I know what some of them are, but if I am wrong please feel free to enlighten me. I believe this is a thread tensioner. Sorry for the poor quality photo. I believe are to hold the rod while wrapping, but I have no idea what the thing on the right is for. It fits on the posts of the two other tools and there are small holes in the middle of each compartment. Also no idea what the thing on the left is. I have absolutely no idea what these are for. Thanks for looking and thanks for any input. Also, if anyone has any good advice on rod building I would love to hear it. I think I am going to build a spinning rod for my father for christmas then probably a 5wt fly rod for myself. Kyle

1. MDC says a lot of things and if you think there is no way an elk could wonder off the proposed area you are naive. It looks to me to be no more than 25 miles (to the upper stretches of the trout water) by way the crow flies and I believe from everything I have read about elk, they cover that kind of distance in a day easily. So, to say "nowhere near" would be an incorrect statement. 2. I understand that the first elk hunt would be many years in the future, but you have to start somewhere. Being 26 years old I am fairly confident if they introduced elk there will be a Missouri elk season in my lifetime, but thank you for pointing out the obvious. Kyle

Flyfishmaster They are proposing to introduce elk into Missouri in the area around the Current river. It seem to be gaining a lot of attention and support. It was proposed back in 200, but got tabled because of the CWD and transferring to and from livestock. But, I am also wishing it would happen. I think it would be pretty neat to be on the river trout fishing and hearing bugles and if you're lucky maybe even see one. Also, as an avid hunter I think it would be great to have an opportunity to hunt elk and not have to pay thousands of dollars to head out west. I am sure it would be a drawing system but you would still have a shot. Kyle
