  1. I have been trying to decipher this tippet leader thing myself. I am new to flyfishing and have only fished during the day. Generally use leader one size larger than my tippet usually 5 or 6. I am going to try night fishing tommorrow night and was wondering what leader, tippet and lengths I should try. I plan on throwing woolies and sculpins, size not sure? 6-10, guess I will decide when I know what a six and a 10 looks like! lol Thanks
  2. Thanks Crappiefisherman!
  3. I will be coming down Thursday late afternoon to hit Taneycomo for a few days. Try for some of those big browns I have seen pics of. New to fly fishing, this forum is a big help to a newbie like me, thanks to all that post. To save me some time, allow for more fishing I was hoping I could get some names of places that do state inspections. My dad has a car at Point Royale sp?, that he wants me to get inspected I have no idea where in town to do this, any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Could this have been caused by a windows update. My desktop did the same thing, physical memory, dump complete. Never had a problem before or after I just shut mine off/on and everything has been fine since. This was early Saturday morning, I use Trend Micro for virus and spyware regularly. But my knowledge of fixing computers is to shut em off, if they don't work, trip to Best Buy! lol
  5. I will be out Sunday evening, family obligations till then. Usually don't get real serious till end of October first of November. Anxious to check the trail camera, been a couple weeks should have some good pics if its not full of water from the flooding we had here this past weekend!!!
  6. Just saw on the Weather Channel, roads 37, 96, 97 have water over the road. Haven't seen anything on the local channels yet though. Sounds like the worst is Joplin, Carthage and east to Mt Vernon. Stockton Lake will get a flush for sure. If traveling be careful! sorry I posted above on the wrong forum, what a tard I am!
  7. John do you have any details about the hunt/fish expo. Is it outside, rain might be a problem, might head over myself today.
  8. I was disappointed in the Thursday night game. Thought it would be closer, I guess the first half was. Indy had a defensive scheme to take away the long ball from the Saints and they mever got Deuce/Reggie going. May be a tough year for the chiefs and LJ, I hope not because I am a fan also, but they have alot of question ?'s on both sides of the ball. Raining here good day to stay in and watch some college games, hopefully chiefs can beat the Texans Sunday!!!!
  9. Don, I hear ya, I love football college, pro, and my favorite fantasy! Been studying players and stats tired of that ready to see some action! Chili and jalapeno poppers, and yea cold Miller Light long necks. Go M Colston and A Vinatieri!!
  10. Kids fishing day is this Saturday 18th at Roaring River, wonder if any one is planning on attending? Is this one similiar to the one they have in the spring? The amount of kids/people the same, do they have as many activities and prizes for the kids as they do in the spring? We were at the spring kids day and had a blast, lots of fish, lots of activities, great prize giveaways. There are alot of people that put in a tremendous amount of work to make this a fun day for the kids, we appreciate it!

    X-Box

We got the PS3 last Christmas. I have it on our wireless network. Can download games, surf the net, or play blu ray movies in 1080i, whatever that means. Step daughter loves it, most games too complicated to keep me interested, would like to try Madden NFL though, just got to save the 60 bucks to buy, lol.
  12. Strangercreek, thanks for the heads up on the Pflueger reel. I have been wanting to get one since an earlier thread discussing Eagle Claw featherweight rods. This reel will go on the 7' Eagle Claw 5/6 wt rod. I have fished this rod a couple times and really like the way the rod works. I am using 5 wt line now, think I will transfer that to the Pflueger. Can't wait to get it!
  13. Great fish Samkam1, a friend has been trying to get me down there for a couple weeks to try our luck, he said he has been doing well also, seeing those pics makes me wish I had taking him up on the offer!
  14. Good luck Leonard in your new venture, I am sure it will work out well for you, might try your services out in the near future.
  15. Great picture of that brown, Phil! I gotta get back down to the river.
  16. Eagle Rock campground is nice. Also located on TR so if the kids want to play around the lake they can. Drive is not too bad 6-8 miles?, guessing. We stayed there during RR kids day and decided we would stay there again.
  17. Greg, I don't know if its on sale in the store in Spfld., but I checked BPS clearance items on the net and they were on clearance for 14.88. I think I will give CV2 a try to start with and later pick me up something more expensive, maybe after some experience with the CV2 I could better compare the differences of the lines. Thanks!
  18. thanks for all the input. I was doing some more looking and BPS has their CV2 line on sale for 14.88? Just don't know, being a beginner that I would tell alot of difference between a 20 dollar line and a 60 dollar line?
  19. I am thinking about purchasing this line, the price seems resonable 39.00 bucks. I am a beginner to fly fishing, so I don't need the latest and greatest, but don't want junk either. Mainly will be fishing a 5WT at Taney and Roaring River, and probably some gill fishing also. Thanks for the input.
  20. Bushwacker has some nice redear in it. Its only about 20 miles from me. The boat ramp is concrete, you can launch any size boat from it. Primitive campground, though I have never camped there. Probably one of two best public places around here to catch nice gills.
  21. Started the morning out with a dead cranking battery, it was fine saturday when I fished? Went to son sac and picked up a new one, 60 bucks oh well. Nice day to fish, fish didn't know it though. We drifted nightcrawlers for walleye only caught one, it was a keeper though. Every other species were biting, smallies, blacks, crappie, catfish, and a huge drum. The lake dropped ALOT while we were there, we could tell when we took the boat out, didn't think they could drop it that much with water still coming in. Sorry not more helpful, maybe next time.
  22. Heading to Stockton in the morning for a few hours, going to try to find some walleye. Probably put in at Mutton and fish toward 215 bridge. Will post results tommorrow.
  23. www.buffaloriver.com buffalo outdoor center website. I use them and stay in their cabins a couple times each spring, good people. Today they say it is 28" below Ponca bridge, lots of dragging?
  24. That was for Terry's benefit, he is always wanting to see pics of big pheesh! JC, I don't know what route you take to Stockton, but you might of driven real close to the spot.
  25. I didn't get to attend, family obligations but reading these posts got my fever up so I headed out Saturday for some gill fishing. Used tubes and micro jigs, fish 1-3 foot deep. Most were longears, with a few redears thrown in. Here is a pic of one of the larger redears 11 inches long.
