Dad's Bars Category: Trail Snacks Backpack: Yes Effort: easy Serves: 7-8 Prep time: 30-60m Ingredients: 2 cups Quick Cooking Rolled Oats (1-minute, instant, etc.) 1/2 cup (1 stick) Butter or Margarine 1/2 cup Brown Sugar or Raw Sugar (plain sugar works fine, too) 1/2 cup Raisins 1/2 cup Coarsely Chopped Dried Fruit (cranberies, cherries, apricots, blueberries, figs, prunes, etc. - but avoid dried pineapple bits (they turn hard as rocks when cooked!) 1/2 cup Coarsely Chopped Salted Peanuts or Mixed Nuts 1/4 cup Shelled Sunflower Seeds 1/4 cup Honey 1 fork (or use your fingers if you can't find a fork) 1 sharp knife 1 8" square microwavable dish (these are usually made out of glass) 1 large bowl to mix everything together in 1 coffee cup (for warming stuff in microwave) 9 zip-lock sandwich bags or freezer bags (snak-sized bags will work fine, but make 12 skinny bars instead of 9 fat ones) How to Prepare: Combine all dry ingredients in the large mixing bowl. Melt the butter... cut the stick in half, plop it in the coffee cup and throw it in the microwave for 15 seconds. If it isn't all melted when it comes out, nuke it again. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture while stirring constantly with a fork, until the butter is evenly distributed and the mixture is well coated. Warm the honey to make it thinner and easier to mix - that's warm, not hot! You can use the same cup you used for the butter and nuke it for 10 seconds. If it isn't warm the first time, nuke it again until it is. Add a drop or two of water if it needs further thinning. Drizzle the warm honey over the mixture while stirring constantly until the honey is evenly distributed. Keep stirring the mixture until there are no lumps or clumps of un-mixed or un-coated ingredients. Press the mixture evenly into the 8" square microwaveable dish (Hint: It's easier to remove the bars later if you spray the inside of the dish with cooking spray first.) Nuke it on high for 6 minutes. The mixture will look like it isn't cooked and it will still be soft and crumbly to the touch. Don't worry, it'll firm-up when it cools down. Let it cool - or - stick it in the 'fridge for about 15 minutes. With a sharp knife, cut it into 9 rectangular bars, stuff each bar (and anything that falls off of it) into a sandwich bag and press out all the air before sealing the bag. Bagged Bars can be stored in the 'fridge for 3 or 4 weeks. They'll keep in your backpack for at least a week on the trail. Dad's Bars make a complete nutritious breakfast with coffee or Tang; or, they make a great "trail lunch" with just plain old water! I keep mine in zip lock bags. You might want to double them to help with Black Bears ya know. Jolly Water Category: Beverages Rating: 6.2 Backpack: No Effort: easy Serves: any Prep time: 1-30m Cals 40 Ingredients: Jolly Rancher hard candy Water How to Prepare: Add 2 pieces of hard candy to your water bottle. Let the candy disolve and mix with the water while you hike. Don't forget to treat or filter all water taken from lakes or streams.

I dont think your talking speed boats as I thought you were. Sorry for that. Speed boats just get on my nerves. However a nice pontoon with up to 50 hp would work and not cause much trouble if one uses common sence.

I dont recall the year but it sticks in my mind it was around 1985 to the tune of close to a million bucks. I don't recall all the numbers however I do recall something of it and I recall thats when I stoped drinking pepsi. I think their are others that recall that also if they would be afraid to speek up. I see a lot of others on the list that is now on mine. I wont support them. I am old fasion like that. People should never support anything or one that they feel is in the wrong. Just know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.......

So what phone numbers should I keep in my cell phone? I think its our duty to report them. It makes it easer and better for the law to catch them.

We like newbies... Welcome to the forum

I think taking away law-abiding people rights to bear arms should never happen. Hum let see take away their rights so the bad guys know its SAFE for them to have and use their guns. Your never going to keep guns out of the thugs hands so why make us easy prey for them. You know what you just sold me on never supporting the Royals, Chiefs, Rams, or Cardinals again. I know right from wrong and I know supporting anti gun is wrong.

Terry, well said. And I agree most of the time asking and keeping one's mouth shut works. It's sad that if one tells a friend and he tells another and someone trashes it then poof no more access for anyone. All because of some jurk that dose not care or thinks its funny to bust bottles and such. After all the land owner is not their momma and shouldn't have to clean up after them! I know I have cleaned up after people just to keep a nice place and to keep it from being posted and I am sure you have. And I hate hearing people say "I didnt do it" and leaving it lay.

Caught 14 nice keeper gills last night at longview lake. I didnt have a bite on worms but did real good on small white powerbait. I dont know how many I caught but I did get enough big ones to have a small fry for us tonight.
-
I agree! I hear people all the time saying "If Mom and Dad Had taught me or made me and I didnt know, I should have been warned". DUH Anyone recall a song "If I Only Had A Brain" LOL People need to use it.... All I know is if its wrong most of the time I knew it was wrong and didn't do it. And I have made choices that may not have been right but I made them and stand up for what I did. I never have blamed my folks or schools or the dog or car or paper or radio or TV for me being wrong or stupid. We all know when we have grown up by doing what is right and standing up for our actions, good or bad. When growing up we had chores and Dad and Mom never had to ask if they were done because if they wern't we would get a licking and I dont meen a little love pat. After a few of them I know right from wrong and what was going to happen. So With what GF said one cant fix stupid.

strangercreek, Kansas city isnt the only place. I go to springfield a lot and driving between here and there one need a combat tank. It is bad. Again I say greed. I seen a lady reading a book and trying to put on makeup plus eat at the same time. Talk about multi tasking se was doing it right up till she went across metcalf and was t-boned. What can I say except she should have got up a little bit sooner.

LOL I have tryed to fish when I was going down the lake at 50 mph I never caught anything. However with a canoe woo hooo I have caught a lot of fish. However its not fun when big powerfull boats zoom by and make large wakes trying to swamp me. So now days I am a bank fisherman. I give up trying to fish from a boat.
-
Im sorry but I feel there should be a few places for us bank fisherman. After all boats can move around and get where thick brush or clifs stops bank fisherman. He is another fine show of GREED. People make room for others and quit being greedy. As far as spoonbilling I feel you should be contemp to just make room for a small amount of people for a few days per year. So My vote is stay out of shallow waters..... Thats my pet pieve.

Hello friends, I feel people ruin it by being greedy and not caring. If more people would think before they throw a beer bottle out and bust it so other people can get cus as well as wild life. Just think if it was yours would you want the trash, ruts, fences tore down, gates open, cattle ran off, and the list go's on. One time I was on the barn roof repairing it when I was sprinkled with buck shot from tresspassers my hay field. Who needs that... So it ruins it for them, their kids and grandkids and ever one else that wanted to hunt. I have had to clean up around my pond so many times I just stoped people from using it. It is a shame but people need to think about it before they do it. Plus if they dont think about it untill afterwards just go fix it. Trust me land owners wouldnt mind. And if you see something wrong and you didnt do it please feel free to fix it. But thats just my my thoughts. However caring is not a bad thing!

Gavin, thats good advice. thanks.

jcoberley replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Lodging, Camping, Kayaking and Caoneing
LOL Phil I was going to say 19 a day times 30 days is 570.00 fot a month and with july starting I bet their would be a lot of people take that deal!!! LOL Stalls free Boat Rental 50% off, gas not included. Is still a great deal. Just to bring it up to you. -
Yep Lilleys Landing is the place to call. Beside being a nice place they provide us with this nice forum. So I feel we should suport them. Enjoy and have a good time.
-
I can see both sides to this. Most people just dont care. They leave gates open throw trash around break beer bottles tear up things leave ruts in the hay fields drive across crops and so on. And when they get hurt they sew for money. I understand from a farmers point of view I have been through that. Selfish and greed is why we have all the trouble with land owners.
-
What a waste of money!
-
See how people have got so greedy. I agree with you I know their nothing wrong with keeping a few fish for a fry however some people are stupid and greedy and just dont care about tomorrow or their children or grandchildren having the same fun they did. I have heard it said time and time again "I will get all I can today and to hell with tomorrow" And i really think thats sad and messed up. PEOPLE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think of your tomorrows and your kids tomorrow. Now that I have vented thanks and have a good day.
