Al I fish for Carp with a 5 wt. in Colo. quit a few Golf Course ponds on the west slope. They are great sport on the fly rod. Never had one on as big as your fish most go 5 to 7 lbs, but what a great fight they put up...
No Luck: 45 miles so. of Graig is Meeker just east of town is Hwy. 8 which take you to good access along the White
River. I have fish it many times with good luck on Drys as well as midges...
I also like braid (power pro) and I keep cut to length fluro. leaders coiled up in zip lock bags in boat and replace as necessary. Works for me and the leaders can be different lb. test which gives you a choice.
Just me but I get really turned off when I see these fishing shows and they are being all loud and stupid when they hook up. I wonder if people act that way or is it just for the camera. In fact I usually mute or turn it off.
I line in G.J. CO and fish the Colorado River near Glen Wood Springs it can be very good and cold canyon has some large fish also the Gunnison at Pleasure Park. Any of the nymphs are good and don't forget a good strike indicator.
Focused Fishing: Thanks for the info. With all the garble about reporting accuracy I just realized that a lot of the times we don't interpret correctly what is being said. Like I understand channel swings & bluffs but you lost me at the flat points near the swings. Is that across to the other side in the shallows or near the bluff end it self.
