  1. I've been fishing this lake fairly steady for 5 years now. I'd hooked and either broke off or unbuttoned probably a dozen that would go from 6-8 lbs. The 5lb mark had eluded me by a mere ounce. But yesterday that finally changed. Curiously, it was the only bite of the day between I and my lady. And it happened in the first 10 minutes of a 3+ hour day of casting. Jig and chunk in shallow brush- (NOTE: I'm having trouble linking within my message "uploaded" images(would show preview). They seem to upload after I've browsed for them, but refuse to show the preview in the window, so the url link was a workaround...Also, cannot utilize the text editing features. Clicking on the icons or scroll down menus does nothing. Help? Mac OSX10.4.11, Firefox 2.0.0.13)
  2. As a Mac and Firefox/Safari user, I feel discriminated against! Disenfranchised! I'm all verklempt! I wanna see-e-e-e-e!

  4. They have a movie up now......WOW
  5. Harper, it's just good to get out there with ya after all these years- only difference being no Buck and Shannon on the radio for the ride home! To have had the time to spend on a piece of water like that even without any hookups is a grand way to live a day with friends. We should all be so lucky! And as PF said, we now are on a mission which insists we get back sooner rather than later. Lookin' forward to our middle of May plans....
  6. This is the only forum that I belong to that focuses on my biggest passion in life, and I care not to even bother lookin for another- it has everything a Missouri boy like myself could need at any given time with any given plan in mind. I may not post all too much, but I try and absorb as much as I can- and appreciate and respect all members and their input, offers of assistance and friendship, and just plain sharing of experiences of the greatest activity in the world. A salute to all, and especially to Phil for his efforts to keep this thing going and growing- I'm sure sometimes it can be a real pain in the keister!
  7. Okay, a few words on the day. Got there 45 minutes before the horn, parked at White Oak Hole and got the gear prepped. Immediately started to shed layers, as it was amazingly warm already before 7:30am. A guy pulls up, gets out of his truck, pulls out some spinning gear and what looked to be a Lazy Ike or some such trebled wobbler and immediately started casting(badly)- at just before 7:30. I just stood, watched and shook my head, making it pretty evident that he had run afoul of the "code". He didnt seem to care about my subtle hints. And, I wasn't in the mood to play park ranger beyond that. Waiting for my two buds to arrive, the whistle sounded and I decided to start out in the riffles under the bridge. Many looks from some nicer fish, but only two takes from their smaller companions- tan scud and beaded hares ear nymph. Soon after the guys arrived, we slowly worked our way upstream, finally spending a good deal of time at or near Sycamore hole, where they refused anything other than glo-balls in the tricolor variety. For myself, one in particular turned out to be best of show (below). Eventually went on down to the Spring Branch and hooked several more- one a scud, one a midge, one a glo-ball. Back to Sycamore Hole to finish off a glorious February day away from the office with a few more hookups. That makes 4 weeks in a row for me spent on the water. Gotta love it! Well, other than the fuel costs....grrrr. ~SF~

  9. Nothing better than trying something new. Aye matey...
  10. Yeah...saw it first time myself on Rowland Martins show a week or two ago- looked like a really cool shallow water technology. Figgered from what you were implying that it could be a solution to the push pole as "anchor" issue.
  11. Would it be feasible to utilize a power pole on such a vessel? Power Pole Site
  12. No hate, Trav...yer just......dif'ernt. haha wink........

  14. Yup, was another great January day on the water. And good to meet another OAF'r as well. Scuds, scuds and scuds were my main meal ticket. White wooley brought a few also. Hey Pat, next time we wanna go, we need to keep it to ourselves- that was almost an in-season type crowd that followed us down there! (plastic worm fishers included.... )

  20. Twas a splendid day yesterday at Maramec Springs Park. Welcomed by the local baldy, it was indeed cold- but I was quite comfortable as dressed. The sun was shining by 11am and the winds were nonexistent. And the fish were agreeable as well. They were schooled up near top, occasionally surface sipping. The water, however, was rather milky compared to normal conditions. I fished exclusively at the hole just before the bathroom hole. Didnt have a reason to move, really. My intention was to walk down to the bridge and work my way back- seeing all those fish lying around nixed that thought..... WD40s, scuds and midges got me about 25 in hand (several more were foul hooked) and breakoffs of at least a dozen. I took only one break at about 2:30. No more than about 12 others braved the elements, and rare it was to see one another. Stopped fishing 2 minutes before the horn, and was greeted on the way out by a lonely and unfazed doe. A fantastic day to be fishing.
  21. So patfish....what'd ya catch him on? Twas a great day- hope we get in a few more before the crazy seasonal crowds get to showing.
  22. Harley sheet...Pat, you were right- I shoulda never come here to see this! I wont sleep a wink until I get back to Taney for a dip and strip night session. And we're due, so-o-o due! Oh to be closer to that action! Jeremy, Summer- a marvelous fish story and the pictures to back it up make it priceless! Congratulations and best of luck with the new member of your family. Now, I gotta go look at those pictures again!

  24. Not a bad place, for a golf course kinda feel. Was there in 2004, so not sure what may be changed with the new management(nice new website!). Caught a lot of fish, but I prefer the more natural setting that Windrush Farms offers. And yeah, glo-balls were like crackrock. WindRush Farms site A couple shots of Springrise from my '04 visit.
  25. Oh how I hope I can hook up with ya Sat.....
