Hey Flatlander, Nice Fish. It was a pleasure meeting you last night. Thanks for the flies Leonard. I had a good time fishing with you guys. I fished from 7:10-11:10 with a few breaks in between. My second cast yielded a 15 in brown from an olive bunny leech that had to be the most colorful fish I caught this year. I finished with only 11 last night, all stocker size bows from either a black or olive pine squirrel. It seemed easy to pick up a few immediately after arriving at a hole then things would slow down until I relocated. Don

Any Info On Colorado River Systems
Don replied to jdmidwest's topic in Lodging, Camping, Kayaking and Caoneing
Dang Aeronikl, Is that you in that pic? That's quite a slob of a trout! Don -
I've sworn wild horses couldn't drag me to Taney on an October weekend because I've seen many flyrods with lots of dust on them that time of year. I usually hightail it to Arkansas waters. Anyhow my friend twisted my arm and wanted me to fish Brett Rader's first annual tournament. Somehow I agreed. I guess I musta been drinking that night. Anyhow, Brett has been the only guide I've ever used and I appreciate his ethics. He is always approachable and sociable on the waters many times since then and many others I've spoke to appreciate the help he's offered. Since I'm going to Mt. Home for some fishing and Conclave inspiration, I have noticed that weekday generation on the White has a pattern where water is off in the morning. I've also noticed the past several weeks water has never been off on weekends but running low flow. Is that one or two or partial generation? Does anyone know what fly pattern changes and or other tips are in order with low generation patterns versus when the water is shut off? Gratefully.....Don

I'd like to make the Coffee Cup but I'll either be hitting my snooze button or putting waders on while drinking a red bull. I'm afraid I'll go back to sleep after breakfast. I do plan to make Fred's Fish House Friday night and wear my OAF hat. Hope to see some of you there. Don

I'll second that motion for a burrito enchilada style. Good Ozarks grown TexMex. I've been eating there for over 30 years. Don

I found this lamp at Bass Pro Catalog Outlet for $40. http://www.blackforestdecor.com/troutfishlamp.html I never paid that high for a lamp before but it accents the bench real well. Don

According to the symptoms I've probably got a few in my head. However, I've been told they would probably starve to death. Don

That's downright hilarious. Terry, I see that you were moving along pretty good in order to pass the car that took your pic. Don

Fishing Thur Night(9/13) Fri Night(9/14) And Sat Night(9/15)
Don replied to Center Punch's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I'm contemplating really hard. I know I cannot make Fri or Sat but after last weekend's fun I might need to go again soon, Thursday night might be an option. It will have to be early night fishing because of Friday work. No commitments here yet but I'll think real hard about it. I'll get back to let you know for sure. Don -
A Texan was visiting his friend here in Missouri. As they were driving down a country riad, a turkey ran across just in front of them. The Missourian exclaimed, "Did you just see that big turkey?" The Texan replied, "That scrawny little bird was a Turkey? Down in Texas, everything is much bigger than they are everywhere else. Turkeys back home are huge." About a mile later they saw a large snapping turtle in the road, about 10-20 lbs. The Texan asked "What is that?" The Missourian replied "Don't let it bite you, that's a tick."

I plan to get back into bowhunting for the first time in 17 years. Nothing too serious, just chase a few deer around the house. I won't go until there's a hard frost. My goal is to bowhunt one morning and fish Taney the same afternooon. Only in America Don

I dropped by Lilley's for supplies and his daughter said Phil just left for Alaska. As I drove over the dam I saw they were running water. I arrived at Table Rock State park at 5:00 and set up camp in the pouring rain. I tied up a tarp and built a pretty good fire in the pouring rain. I was getting hungry so I grilled chicken in the pouring rain. It was rather relaxing just sitting there listening to the rain splash the top of the tarp. I learned why one should wear both parts of your rain suit. I only wore the jacket, so 3 hours later, the water that ran down the jacket was soaked up by my jeans and the rest of my clothes. Duh. The rain stopped about 8:30 so I changed to dry clothes and rested for awhile. Around 9:00 I became bored and decided to take a drive to the dam. I got out at the chute 1 parking lot to ask some guys if water was off. After a few minutes I was revealed that one of them was Leonard. He twisted my arm to suit up and I obliged. We hit the water a little before 10:00 and fished for 2 hours spending most of out time between chutes 1 and 2. I had one strike on a black pine squirrel. Leonard suggested he would be trying the color white so I caught 2 on a small white wooly bugger. I had more strikes stripping after the drift. I then switched to a white rabbit leach and caught 2 more while drifting slowly. Leonard had to leave while I needed a break because I had nagging lower back pain all weekend. I visited Michael Kyle, Dwayne, and a few of their friends as they were suiting up at the pavillion. They looked like they were on a mission. I debated on fishing again and since I just slammed a Red Bull energy drink, I was obligated to the gauntlet. It's my favorite place to fish streamers during the day. I started just below rebar and worked my way down towards the end. I wanted to try the big hole but there were people fishing there. I enjoyed the elbow room and the solitude, however alot of lightning in distance made me a little nervous at times. I used only one fly, the white rabbit leach, no weight, and had many strikes. I only caught 5 more and missed and lost quite a few fish. All caught were bows from 12-14 inches. I walked back to the top of the gauntlet ready repeat things with a natural color rabbit leach and then the alarm on my watch reminded me that it was 2:00. I made a few unsuccesful casts and packed it in back to camp. It was the first time I fished at night in two years and my third time night fishing ever. To date, it was my best night trip. I arrived back to the dam at 8:30 AM Sunday and fished until noon. Fishing was very slow and I only caught 4. I caught those with GBugs and scuds from Chartered Waters. I might have caught a few more but I spent at least an hour pounding on a lunker rainbow that I located. Final Score: Lunker Bow 1, Don 0; similar to the KC Chiefs game. Don

Amen MrsDucky. I bleed Chiefs red myself. I was surprised by the opening game. The first half was good but the second was too much. Poor corner play by Jason David....or can Payton Manning do that to just about any CB? I'm also big on fantasy football. This is my 9th year in my main league. I joined an extra league this year to help a friend field some teams. Chiefs revamped their D this year but after losing two of the best O limemen in the NFL, they have not shored up that aspect of the game. That could mean a tougher year for Larry Johnson. Don

I bought my Pentax Optio W20 from Abes earlier this year. Good customer service and prompt delivery. Don

I'll be there. No egg this time, too heavy. I did more cooking than fishing last time. I plan to fish more this time. I'll bring something edible. Don

I shouldn't even be at work today. It should be a national holiday. It doesn't even matter which team wins tonight, my adrenaline will be up for it. I'll miss my Chiefs opening game because I'll be fishing. Not everything can be a priority at the same time. Don

All OK here. Apparently I slept through everything. Sounds like wind damage about 2 miles south of me. Got enough rain to have a flow on the low water bridge for a change at my place. Thanks, Don

Nice fish! Sounds like you had a blast. Thanks for sharing.....Don

Looks like a good hunt PVS. I finally had a few hours yesterday evening but no birds. I saw several throughout the day while mowing, but none came to my decoys. Don

Who's Leonard? Don

Congratulations Duckys. I like the name Landon. By the way, if you need a name for the next one, Wapsi works good for either a boy or a girl. Don

Either Taney or a smallie trip would both work well for washing down birds. I cant leave the house until Sat afternoon 09/08. Let me know what works for you. Don

My next availability is Sat evening until Sun evening 09/08-09/09. Table Rock State Park is an option for fishing Taney but I'm open to anywhere. I'll even show you how to tie the fly. I'm also interested to learn how you tie/furl the hook to the smallie glitter yarn worm. And yes, smoked bird is the word. Don
