Here is one of the best chum/method I have ever used step one, get ether corn chops or steam rolled corn (think corn oatmeal) step two, fill what ever boiling pot you have 1/3 full only 1/3 because this stuff swells up big time Step 3, cover with well water or clean lake/stream better if you don't use city water step 4, add a 1/4 cup of salt (kosher or himalayan) boil hard until it begins to swell the add 2 cups of molasses stump likker deer attractant works very well with this. boil till it doubles its size, you may have to add water during this process. Step 4, you will end up with a glue like sticky blobs of carp slobering corn goo, pour it out into a big ol ice chest and add dry quick oats and make into chumable balls, you can use it as pack but you need to play with it on break times, as every bag of corn is different, so many variants with this to make it your own, but the way this clouds the water with all the tasty bits wafting about sends carp gaga, whole corn prepped the same way as the chops for your hook baits one kernal hair rigged between two pop up plastic corn dipped in stump likker spiked with amino acids with put fish on the bank

sometimes the scenery isn't whats above the water sometimes , but even then there are some cool places there, but I grew up with white sand between my toes, so I guess its my comfort zone, water so clear it looks like a boat it suspended in thin air

I grew up fishing Ft Myers Beach-Destin-Gulf Shores areas white sand clear water, the many canals and cuts could be fished safely with a good kayak something I wish was around when I grew up, santa rosa island area is a great fishing zone, kinda pricy to stay there anymore, I keep telling myself to move back home to be closer to family, here one for you, when people think of a wicked top water take, I think of this kind hit (kings) still remember being told KEEP YOUR THUMB OFF THE SPOOL WHEN THEY RUN! if you did then you would have no flesh on it! they call them smoker kings for a reason https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx-09F34xOU

I am that way about bigger saltwater fish, way to much work, I'd rather catch a bunch of 1-1/2 -3# flounder or specks than mess with big kings or cobia

attempted* bullied, and I do think gigging hurts trophy smallmouth fishing in some areas & I am not the only one here on OAF that thinks so but the vids on this thread are Bfed bass (legally I might add) yet the smallmouth advocates have not been successful in limiting gigging anywhere that I know of, I gladly fight the good fight winning hearts and minds one post at a time here is the state record NE smallmouth taken by bow legally,... personally I'd like to see some places with a no-smallmouth over 18" harvest rule, is this bullying? only if I am hammering people about bass fishing on whopper popper threads, which I do not lets be clear, I am all for managing fisheries for more and bigger fish, be it bass, crappie, walleyes etc, if you look through my posts, I have discussed genetics, management ideas for many species not just carp, I also have a friend in state fisheries that is researching managing common carp as a trophy, I am sure in time all his hard work will be published, I am glad to be able to help in this since I have more time on my hand than most. even as things move forward fish stabbers will still be able to stab fish, perhaps not everywhere or as many as in the past, I am sure people yatched and moaned when they made people buy a fishing license and imposed the 1st limits, but here we are today

have you been to Noel before the poultry plant went in? much less after? its not about why they came here, or how much $ is spent supporting bringing in refuges, or if they were properly vetted, or ask the people on Grand lake how much worse the water quality is now, its about what has happened because of it perhaps they should have built the poultry plant in a blighted area in Detroit, not in a scenic area that is forever trashed, I do not begrudge people bettering themselves coming here to the USA, but not at the expense of Americans already in need, and when we have to have our natural beauty juggled up like it has, wading past a pipe dumping caca water into a Ozark stream isn't worth it

nothing wrong with that, eating carp that size makes the big fish bigger and his catch would be right in line with the 5 fish only one over 26" new regulations

^ that is in my inbox, so what do you call it? (name redacted to protect the innocent) that sir is debatable, LMB are everywhere and considerd invasive by the people who track such things, I have linked that info till I am blue in the face, places that hold trophy common carp are not so and if your statement was fact CT would not have passed the new regulations holding a bass killing tourney is legal, but not to spite people, its just not cool, perhaps a cabin cruiser event tossing huge wakes at a kayak bass event? same kind of deal if the persons intent wast to jack up the kayakers, or am I wrong? plenty of carp, just not big carp, to those who think a 10# fish is a monster, we euro carpers have bigger goals, it takes a 40" fish to get even close to 30# imagine how big a 50# is? ether way its those events that have systematically trashed former big carp waters that brought about protections in CT. ironically it seems those events may harm bass populations by lowering highly nutritious YOY baby carp (and buffalo) from bass at important time is there growth cycle ( skinny bass big heads) big harvest of any fish over time hammer it down, when I was a kid all those years ago, you did not even have to have a license to fish in the Gulf, nor where there any limits, time change. we can test that theory but new regulations to conserve a fish stock is by its very nature a conservation issue The Austin American-Statesman has had many a story leading about carp, the year Al won the $250,000 and set the state record at that time made the papers all over the USA its been broken 3 times I know of within a reasonable drive of you, like many carp records, do not get turned in in fear of the Bfing pressure, if you or anyone thinks that is BS I invite you to ask that very question on the Carp org FB and let them tell you, this thread started as what I had promised months ago when I was told that it will be a "cold day in hell" when carp get protections, so here we are and ol billzebob is wearing a parka http://www.espn.com/outdoors/fishing/columns/story?columnist=sutton_keith&page=g_col_Sutton_records

thats a easy one...just gloss over and ignore it, if no one wants it then it will get no views, I have people message me and say they don't post because they don't want to be bullied, one reason I post and share, I have a few nice posts on how too coming up for spring I will share, feel free not to read them if your intent is to discourage people from carp fishing. in reality it chaps some people's hides to think something like carp fishing would be something many would do, and with that regulations and limits that support those fishermen, and in your case IMHO think it will come at the expense of YOUR outdoor pursuits. but just like you can still harvest a limit of 12" bows on Taney, yet we have trophy management in some parts of the lake, this is what happened in CT for common carp, people can still bow-fish in CT they just can't dumpster thousands of pounds of the largest fish legally anymore. There is a large and growing carp fishing community that fish there, we have some world class fisheries here in the ozarks, yet places like Table Rock Lake have been devastated, your chances at a 40# common in TR are almost non existent anymore because of the Bfing pressure The reason regulations came to pass in CT was because of events like the pics below, and the open hostility to target and ruin euro-carpers fishing, ironically something the animal rights people do by disrupting deer hunts, events that brought about regulations that make such behavior illegal, nothing happens in a vacuum and your posts and others on his subject shine the light on what people like me go through just to have some fun fishing. Euro-carper types are not PETA, we hunt, trap, even eat fish, we are not the 1st domino to take away anyones outdoor privileges when we seek regulations to make our fishing experience better, I attempt sometimes clumsily, to educate the readers on some of the preconceived notions on common carp that are still commonly held today, Missouri has regs that limit how many "rough fish" one could harvest, yet in the bighead and silver carp mania commons got tossed into the unlimited mix, even though they have been in our waters over 140 years. The asian carp have hurt common carp fishing just as much as other "game fish". The below pics was from Indiana where Jeff was at a big Carp event held in Indianapolis this past weekend and event that has been popular for the last 20+ years, vendors get together and socialize, some go fishing ETC, its no big secret to those in the Bfing community and this is what happens, can't tell you how many times its happened to me here in the Ozarks, one reason I don't post like I did back in the early days of OAF.

I am disappointed you never dropped by the carper forum

Truman Tailwater Generation
MoCarp replied to Linhardt's topic in Truman Tailwater/Upper Osage River
just call the local tackle shops they will tell you, but be sure and stop by and introduce yourself and buy something, or you my come down just to see no water! -
the poultry industry trashed Noel, Missouri IMHO a place that should be a cool touristy floating camping fishing community not the home to one of if not the largest poultry processing plant in the world, and one of the biggest influx of of refugees and chain migration illegal immigration in the USA, when the newly american live like they do "back home" our natural environment is the worse for it, limits of fish and game are a joke, and why pay for trash to be hauled off when you can toss it in a pile in the woods, have old paint, oil, antifreeze, bug killer? do what you did back home toss it in the river!... and people were shocked on why the american people voted the way we did the last election, Monett and Noel are fly over USA, enough is enough people https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/02/06/somali-refugees-missouri/97548508/

look up American Carp Angler on FB I am sure they will answer all your questions
-
I invite anyone who doesn't think this is an issue to chat with a few people other than me....its why new regulations got past in CT and other are in the works in many places, I am all for a good debate on issues, I look forward in reporting some cool new things going on over the next few mths, I always screen shot some of the more ridiculous comments to share with fellow carp anglers

stockton is another less crowed option for whites, though they tend to run smaller, elk river is another good spot that can be waded from the dam down stream to grand, if they get picky, wild caught minnows fished on bottom can trigger the bigger sows when they are stubborn
-
no but we see you like I said it pays for us to keep a low profile, one reason so much carp kit sold here in the USA is camo last time we had a carp tourney here in SW Missouri we had 20- two man teams, could have had more but didn't have enough swims pegged are we as numerous as crappie anglers- nope , at least not yet

Lol love you too Billet I agree, they said six pounds not I, my eyes are getting worse, I am old remember ...lol Black Bass are listed as one of the most invasive fishing in he world, but people love them and like carp, were spread world wide, I am sure the people in California are grateful Florida LMB were stocked back in the day as far as being naturalized it is neither good or bad, it just is, just like people of european descent are naturalized here in North America. if the same conditions like a post civil war reconstruction, or zombie apocalypse then yep, things would get done so people could subsist off wild gathered foods, in fact I'd bet a Kudzu GMO would get planed everywhere if it fed enough people. yeah its been the off season and have been doing some carp research and writing for other projects, yet I promised as I would post the common carp protection regulations as they happened if I remember I was told ("snowballs chance in hell?") yet here we are. I am and thank you...I am looking forward getting afield in 2018, not just carping, but perhaps some smallmouth fishing as well, then there are those slab sized sunfish too. just hope we don't see the flooding this year like we have had in the past so far it doesn't look good

while on this subject of Bfer disrespect here is some pics sent to me on violations on LBL this January (Town Lake) in Austin Texas rules there limit one common over 33" and you can only shoot a longbow (too many people/structures on this narrow water) the goal is to pound down the water before the Big ATC carp tourney in march. anyone who has fished this venue recognize that skyline, I was blessed to live near that fishing hole when I lived north Of San Antonio and since it had the tougher regs placed on it Bfers just hammerd it and flaunted the new regulations, now what was a water that produced 40# class state record fish you are lucky to break 25# the lake is not the fishery it once was 10 years ago, I can tell you a push is being made to document violations, the practices of shot.slit and release are common here in the ozarks, most Bfers don't care, you can only "harvest" 20 native "rough" fish, they shoot till they are tired of shooting I have personally seen walleyes Bfed, hard not to see them there eyes glow yards away, twacking a 12# walleye just chaps my hide, I can't blame COs because who wants to have to get up at 2 in the morning to go chase down a boat thats long gone? maybe I am just too old, but back in the day, if you killed it you ate it, I bet if people composted deer or any other Game animal people would get salty but you can grow a 8 point buck in 3 years 4 years tops, it takes 10 years to grow a 25# common carp 50 years for a huge alligator gar, I can post Bfed beavers, deer, armadillos, bass, walleyes , hell even Muskies now everyone has a HD camera on there phone, people just need to use it and start reporting

I can document hundreds of thousands of pound of carp and buffalo harvested by stabbing methods, just the Bfing events held in Missouri lakes alone, Two Bfing events one in Michigan and the other in California boast record weights over 250k pounds of fish dumpster in ONE weekend, some carp flyfishing guides have complained below are some news links, if Bfing can crash numbers in something as large as lake Michigan http://greatlakesecho.org/2017/08/09/anglers-target-bowfishermen-for-carp-decrease/ http://news.jrn.msu.edu/2017/08/anglers-target-bowfishermen-for-carp-decrease/
