  1. so all pro carp posts are mocarp on alts????? so in your efforts to discredit the carp guy....you realize I get a but load of pms and emails on going carping or learning more? so keep on carrying on....perhaps you can trash Brian Winged next he gave me some good advice..just do what you do and let the other things land as they may.....post like this motvate me to work 10x harder....so carry on! again tell Darrel I said hi...
  2. had some beaver stew once they guy that made it said the trick was parboiling the meat to get rid of the grease, then lay it on a bed of potatoes and baby carrots and cook it 12 hours on low in a slow cooker...was very good
  3. I take it you still love to fish.....what better way to fire up a kid fishing than to get a big fish on the end of there line........
  4. the meat fishermen mentality destroys great fishing, winning hearts and minds over time is the only way....only takes a few game hogs to trash a place, everyone knows someone who ignores limits 30 crappie in the freezer..thats it..all you can have....yet we see people on TR limit out every day sometimes for a week in the spring.....it can be said some even barter fish...I personally have been asked to trade some fish before..( I always tell they Ill take them fishing)....once saw 2 local guys at Stockton loading an IceChest with walleyes dozens of them....reported it..but saw the guys again 2 days later i'd bet if they caught them they did it again....what is the answer???? I wish I knew
  5. We are in total agreement, Ironically the best carp waters are almost always great fishing for "gamefish" as I try to show here having both is not mutually exclusive That is changing several areas are studying the nuts and bolts to have better big carp fishing, what makes dale hollow carp so big?..we do not know.....bullshoals carp run a lot bigger than stockton why? we just do not know.....pomme/loz/truman buff dominate and common carp do not get as big there why?... I know of 4 places that regs are to promote large common carp and require the release of the largest fish, on location has had these regs in place for a decade now and it still has some of the best fishing in texas common carp up to about 10# are great eating if prepared properly (all jokes aside) and out of Ozark streams far better fair than out of say the Missouri river....I would rather see people toss back the bronze backs (another fish I have passion for) not all waters are going to be good carp waters and the management should be to that end... back in the day during spawn they used to think salmon were too thick... huge schools turned rivers red.....sometimes things are not what they seem....if carp exceed 200k per Hectare according to studies they can cause problems in some waters with silt bottoms, usually the baby carp eaters have been over harvested or run off has caused the living conditions (pollution) to favor a more hardy carp...those waters suck for big carp fishing, never see a fish over 20"..I have always wondered how commons get in isolated waters..bubba slim carp fisherman isn't horse backing baby carp up into the mountains anytime soon Austin has some incredible fishing LBL lake has huge LMB..and some huge read ear sunfish......I didn't only carp fish LBL ...myths about what makes fishing bad just get perpetuated too many carp are a symptom not the cause in most cases.....if you have not seen LBL in downtown austin you should... its beautiful.....before anyone tosses the stone, you should experience what its like to have a 30#er on the end of your line.....
  6. Boat Optional fish stabbing
  7. stereotypes, why are they stereotypes? mostly because of personal anecdotal observations....so I post this because it doesn't get any better than this people, you just can't make this up
  8. I saw a post somewhere where kimberling city dumps turd water in TR...then all the growth since then....I know the water isn't as clear as it was in the 80's
  9. I am sure lots of people screamed bloody murder when cars replaced horses, candles where not needed anymore, and cops got body cams......life evolves
  10. I talked to a Kansas biologist recently and they now have successfully use a measured application of rotenone to thin down gizzard shad with out harming other fish....I think a couple of lakes in Kansas use walleyes and hybrid stripers to keep white perch at bay.....its all about balance any fish population can get out of hand and needs adjusting to seek angler goals....
  11. mike iaconelli done gone euro
  12. this is because euro anglers spend big $
  13. a 10 billion dollar a year carp...just remember that...
  14. agreed and removing all the carp from the Missouri River will not make it run clear like a mountain stream ether. if you take an existing pond and start from scratch it will go through a boom period basically letting a lake not get fished for a few years will make even a swimming pool great fishing, at least for a while... its the restocking and rebalancing the pred/prey relationship and the new harvest regulations AND strict enforcement that changed once they reopened the lakes ..over time a water ages its called Eutrophication it is the process in which lakes receive nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen) and sediment from the surrounding watershed and become more fertile and shallow. ... The additional nutrients can cause algal blooms, additional plant growth and overall poorer water quality, making the lake less suitable for many outdoor uses, in time the lake goes back into what it was before renovation..then the cycle repeats and the lake gets renovated again, you tax dollars at work....next time your at Busch look around a few guys euro carp it regularly..fished with them on 33 a few times. Yes man changed the habitat, just like man has changed most waters in the USA, farming and land use are responsible for many ills blamed on carp....yet management practices embraced the ringneck...and seem to eradicate the common carp....it can be argued that commons have had less impact on native fishes than asian pheasants have on native game birds. its rare we don't have a watershed untouched in someway by man, a wonderful flower in a wheat field is a weed, a smallmouth bass in a califorina stream is an invasive species to be eradicated. the desperate efforts to re-establish what was here before man may be a futile effort in some cases I will share a famous quote from Authors Buffler , Dickson.
  15. A buddy went last week caught some nice fish and a couple of browns that he released, he was tossing the deep diving rebel craw on 4# test was the best producer ...also had a follow from a gold rainbow.....he was fishing from his bass boat..said some of the people on the bank where not catching much from what he saw..Ill see if he has pics
  16. and its debatable what is considered "trash fish" ...more anglers fish for common carp than Muskies in the USA...economically promoting eurocarp angling has ben an economic boon for the areas in the US that have done so....Waddinton NY a small town of less than a 1000 people cater to anglers who travel there JUST to fish for common carp.....Austin Texas and lake fork Texas are other areas that benefit from the economics. Some lakes in Nebraska were clear and had great gamefish populations and were renovated anyways...not saying that some waters are overrun with carp...but most euroanglers are not interested in catching tons on dinks, but rather the larger fish 20# and better....the powers that be at the state level do not promote beyond the eradication of commons even though they have been there 140 years....Asian Ringneck pheasants directly responceable for displacing native game birds like prairie Chickens and German Brown Trout also on the ICU most invasive list are championed in Nebraska management for use.....you can have your cake and eat it too....the technology is there to do so without killing of the fish the dredge and dewatering method saves years of downtime to build back fish populations how long does it take to produce 10# walleyes?.....its applications allow to remove silt in only the worse parts of the lake as time /need/ or budget allows...granted it a newer way typically used for smaller waters but it is faster and less expensive compared to total renovation.......tell Darrel at the other forum MoCarp Said hello
  17. I think its a rabbit hole they don't want to go down..because raising and stocking fish is labor intensive..IE hard work! who wants to get in a rearing pond and net up 300k fish load and stock...months of feeding and maintaining ponds....these guys went to school to get away from hard labor!!!! one of the reasons I never finished was I fell into advertising sales and unless I moved the only job for a while was working in a hatchery...and thats back breaking work!....there is a whole lot less work doing "studies" and that is where a lot of $ go to ..great work if you can get it. now no one will tell you that we will NEVER get rid of the jumping silver carp...EVER..yet we need to monitor it to hope we can prevent the spread....won't happen...... sooner or later some one will net "shad" and its tons of baby silvers and they will get in any system...hence the new bait rules in many states.....monitoring will only tell you HEY they are here now.....I don't have the answers but at lease we don't have a renovation industry like Nebraska/minnesota/ and other upper midwest states..they move from lake to lake on a 10 year cycle kill it out and start over ...one of the top 5 big fish lakes in NE was killed off a few months ago because it had "too many" carp.. anglers were outraged and wanted answers and asked at what is too many carp? asking to see sampling studies.....because the other fishing was great trophy bass and walleyes....ironically it was't the rod and reel carp guys revolting...we know at this point its a losing battle..put when you need some work for the fellas...some lakes gotta go....and this one was targeted.......what funny is the carp guys get blamed for bait bucket stocking...but who's going to put fish in a lake thats going to be a decade before its worth fishing (takes that long to grow a 20#er).....so in a nutshell should Missouri stock more fish....yep...I'd like to see more smallmouths and less walleyes at stockton go back to 18" limit....yellow perch would be awesome there as well..will it happen?...nope......IF WE ARE LUCKY we might see some muskie stocking in new places......depends who gets organized and hollars loudest....
  18. I think they get federal dollars on paddlefish..but I agree some supplemental stocking could benefit some Missouri waters....they do stock a lot of walleyes ATM
  19. LOL true that
  20. todays PC world...... lord help someone showing live beef to hamburgers...we would hear "vegans of the world unite" to think of it kinda going on now beer goggles me thinks
