  1. I do like your technique of taking your own fish pix. How would you do that with something 10lbs plus? Toss it up in the air?
  2. I agree, the Little Piney.
  3. The months you mentioned, yup.
  4. Brett, too bad the fish weren't cooperating. For me the Bass are either on or off. Yes there is a lot of Drum in that stretch. But I don’t know if that is what you saw schooled up. Shortly after your put in, on the left of the river is an area that was dredged out by the gravel plant. I have seen Asian Carp in there. I’ve had them almost jump in the jet boat. I’ve had my best luck fishing a jig below good sized riffles. When I see Drum tailing in the water, I will pitch a jig down steam of them. I find usually a nice Bass hanging out near them. I’m sure Al Agnew would be able to shed much more light on what you saw, and how you could have done better. Search his posts, they are chock full of great insights Thanks for your report. Bruce
  5. You didn't mention running that awesome Gator of yours, have you been out with it?
  6. I like those pics. Did you shoot them by yourself with your other hand?
  7. Any fly that looks like trout eggs.
  8. Dano, If I am down there I will keep an eye open for you. Good meeting you at Lilley's.
  9. Wow, I'm drooling. What does it take to get in the front seat of your canoe...just kidding...not! Thanks again for a great thread.
  10. WOO HOO! What a toad. Way to go!
  11. Brett, Where is that report?
  12. You are right there, I've gotta find me some lunkers though.
  13. Took my GF down to Maramec Spring Park friday. We arrived mid morning to bluebird sky's, and great weather for August. Water is low and clear. Usually this time of year there are greater numbers of fish in the water, not now. Also the average size of the fish is down. Lots of small fry rainbows and browns in there too. It's harder to catch one of the bigger trout before one of those chinass trout comes over and ends up on your line. Since I had Donna with me, we stayed in the park and didn't make it down to the trophy area. These will give you an idea of the size of the better fish. Having fished Taney week before last, guess I'm spoiled. The same size of fish fight way harder, and are thicker/stronger inch for inch.
  14. True boats can do the Taney two step for ya... But how many folks don't realize this. I'm not going to run over anyones line, bad manners. And bad for the impeller.
  15. Brett, Good luck! We will look forward to your report.
  16. Bret, Take a look at the previous post to yours. Al Agnew had some great comments. Also search some of Al's posts. You will find a wealth of information on your questions. I would suggest putting in at Pacific Palisades, and a take out at Allenton Access. There is a floating service available for this area now, Forest 44 canoe rental. On their website they have approximate float times and mileage. http://www.forest44canoerental.com/ Regards, Bman

  18. Dano, It was good to meet you on Lilleys Dock. Maybe we will see each other at M.S.P. someday. I will for sure be there for the first week of the C.& R.
  19. Laker, Thanks for your post. Arkansas? No problem. I will go where ever I need to get my hands on one of those 20 pounders. All I want is a length, and girth measurement, a quick pic or two. And a respectful release.
  20. Thanks, I do the best I can, even though I wasn't an English major. I forgot to mention the quality of the bite. For me it was best with; #1, No generation. Stripping Taney Sculpins or fishing Dry's (beetles) #2 my favorite, but short lived, 1-2 units coming on. As the water is rising, things are happening. A dropper rig with an egg, and scud dropper. #3 Last but not least 4 units from the boat. The bite is awesome rising, and for a short while after the water has stopped rising. Then they seem to get lock jaw. I've gone as far as thunk'in them in the snoot with my bugs, and they still won't bite. I think they are done from pigging out on the onslaught of food and rising water. Fly rod I'm using 6X - 5X and a lot of tippett to get the bugs down using an AB shot. Again a dropper rig. Or I skip Sculpins bouncing them along the bottom. I try to sight fish these as I normally get way more missed fish, than hook up's. Maybe we will meet this fall. I have my running shoes ready for those big Browns! First thing I'm thinking when I finally get that right cast, the right mend, and the drift just right and they bite, I've got him, I've actually got him!!! Second...LETS GO! Let's go chasing!
  21. I fish the entire trophy area. The outlets, the islands, and the old KOA area, now Trophy Run, and Lookout pt are favorites though.
  22. Fished Monday through Thursday evening. Mornings wading, and afternoons by boat. A lot of fish in the 17-19 inch range. Thick, strong, and full of fight. Some really great looking fish too! I'm seeing bigger overall fish now, and more of them. If I'm in the boat and 4 units running, I will pull into the mouth of outlet 1, (IF NO FISHERMEN ARE THERE) Had one huge female Rainbow on in outlet #1, 4 units running, from the boat, no waders present at the time. The big female, I easily spot fished my size 18 scud to her, she bit, and she promptly broke me off like she'd done it a hundred times. She probably has. I would estimate her at 25 inches easy, with a huge girth.
  23. Love the new look, easy to use too, live cam works.
  24. I used to really enjoy Addictive fishing with Capt Blair Morgan. He's a wild man, educational. Most shows were saltwater though. Can't find his show anymore, maybe more this fall. He would use the buggy whip too.
  25. Good Luck. I will be down there next week as well. Planning on bringing boat for flows above 2 units.
