I really cherish the times my son and daughter and I have had, and continue to have together on the water. Now we are introducing a new generation! My son's two. Mira who is almost 5 and Cole soon to be 3. My daughter has 4 year old Cadence, with another granson on the way! My dear Dad passed away last fall. He had a good life, and was 90 when he passed. Thankfully he didn't suffer long. Parkinsons took him.

Thanks for sharing that. Steels the name trout fishin's my game. Yes, I remember Bruce Steel and his shop. My Dad first took me to Taney in 1964. We would camp and rent a boat from Fall Creek Trout Dock... Before that west coast trout fishing in California. My family comes from Washington State and Idaho. I remember playing on the banks of the Snake River jumping driftwood and dodging rattle snakes.

Gentlemen, This I've wondered about for some time. Why under trout parks is the heading"Maramec State Park/Springs " ? These are two different places. Meramec State Park is way downstream near Sullivan.No trout there. Maramec Spring Park is not a state park, it is owned/operated by the James Foundation in St James Missouri. Thanks for the report, a pat on the back for taking care of the illegal activity. Sometimes when putting in a boat just down at the MDC boat ramp, I see the same thing. They usually have a cooler next to them to stash their illegaly caught, and sized fish. Would you please post those two phone numbers you used? I would like to add them to my cell phone. Congrats to Laker67! on the #1209th lunker!

I rarely use line over 12 lbs. I almost always use fluorocarbon. Cricket, A #12 scud is fly fishin talk for a fly imitating a fresh water shrimp, tied on a size #12 hook. Taney is FULL of scuds. As are most all trout waters here in Mo. Example, ya know the spillway at Bennett dividing zone 1 & 2? Just grab a hunk of that moss in your hand and check out all the scuds wiggling around. Think of all the bugs falling loose into the pool below. Try dead drifting scuds there...if ya match the size/color the fish want...bingo. Add a fly rod to your arsenal.

Goes on all the time, everywhere. I used to be involved for over 20 plus years in competitive dog training for sport, police, and military dogs. I turned away from the organizations (not the dogs) for reasons of cheating, and dirty politics. A common saying involved with competition= " It's only called cheating, if you get caught" unfortunately... Hope the cheaters see justice. How they can feel good about what they do blows my mind. Just my 2 bits.

My son and I were planning on a trip to Bennett today. Glad we called it off, tornado in Springfield & weather headed Lebanon way. "Hoodoochie" that one had me going too, was wondering if we got hit by the spammers. LOL
