  1. IMO, I would drive there. I have waded that far, but it is a long way, and you might have trouble getting past Dry Fork Creek.
  2. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience, and or advise for inflatable life jackets. Will heavy rain/spray set them off? Thanks in advance.
  3. Good luck guys. Be sure to give us a fishing report with pix if you can.
  4. A lot of great advise. Here's my 2 bits, carry a good camera and a tape measure. When you do catch that big one, get a few good pictures, a length and a girth measurement, and release the fish. You can get awesome replicas made now, and you will keep that big one in the gene pool. Maybe you will trick 'em another day. btw, length x girth x girth divided by 800 = a very accurate wieght
  5. I love my Rio's, but have a sharkskin on order, btw I demoed one of the ZXL's you have, the same rod 4wt ... SWEET ROD!!!
  6. I use a Pentax Optio W60. It's waterproof, compact, takes awesome fish pix. It's the kind of camera that can be handed to a passer by and get a great shot with the auto functions.
  7. FFM, Glad ya had a great day, seems you had it coming.
  8. I would try egg patterns (glo balls) small ones. Maybe a zebra midge dropper, again small like #20. Good luck.
  9. I feel your pain. I know the feeling, actually -28% is better than what the average loss is among my friends. But like zander said, there are some great buys out there. Anyone want to bet on what happens with fuel/energy prices???
  10. Matt, Thanks for making his day. The camera, I've ALWAYS said camera's are bad luck. Tight Lines,
  11. Thanks, The color of the egg pattern I taught him was closest to peach than anything else. The material needed is no longer available, I bought up as much as I could.
  12. My son Matt wasn't able to make my Taney trip so he went to the park monday, and he was glad he did. He gave his new net a good breaking in, (a Christmas present from me, so I get MINE BACK!!! ) Matt caught this 25" pig, and was glad he had his running shoes on! this sow went bonkers when hooked...jumping, running upstream & down, across and back. Matt said he was using a secret egg pattern I taught him, with a small scud or wd40 trailer. Thanks to Matt Buckley for the photos! Matt, if you see this post maybe you can elaborate.
  13. I got down to Taney mid day Sun the 28th. Wow... no where to park! looked like the Fall Brown run. Fishing was good, caught a lot of the "silver bullets" but I'm not seeing the numbers of fish one would normally see in the upper end. No generation Sun, Mon, they turned on 1 unit Tue morn...report said they were to turn it off at 10am, they lied. 1 unit all day till 5pm, then 2 units. The wind was tough Tue afternoon. To make my back cast facing into the wind, all ya had to do was hold the rod straight up. The wind would take your line straight back and load the rod nicely! My son Matt ended up with the big fish Monday, at Meramec Spring Park! Matt wasn't able to make it down to Taney with me this time, (orders from management...his wife) Here the pix, a fat 25 incher, Matt said he was glad he had on his runnin shoes as he had to chase this one down. He gave his new net a good break in, he was always borrowing mine...so a perfect Christmas present! And I have my net back!!! Tight Lines, and happy new years to all. Bman
  14. DITTOS, probably Taney.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Then we don't use the "B" word. You mentioned," a program for a fisheries department at MU or MSU to create a model that would be financially feasible and applicable for our tailwater. There is grant money always there for habitat improvement for Table Rock AND Taneycomo. With TU helping both financially and with volunteers, I think it's very feasible that something substantial would be done". What a great idea, it would be great to get the ball rolling on improvements of this nature.
  16. Boaters have boulders and shallow water to get to the upper end...oh ya, and lets not forget REBAR. Not to mention wade fishermen. I think it's an awesome idea, boulders and all.
  17. Try searching past posts on the subject by Al Agnew.
  18. Since you want to spin fish once the regular season opens in March, I would use dough bait on a jig hook floated below...a float. For floats I would suggest a adjustable one with a tooth pick in one end. They sell them at the park. Use 1 or 2 lb test flourocarbon. Use jig hooks 1/100th oz to 1/120oz. tight lines
  19. Back in the 80's I was a OAF member, guess it's time to renew my membership.
  20. Glad things worked out for you. I guess you have a new fav spot!
  21. Folks throw corn in there to chum them up, usually if you look around the bank you might see left over burned up firewood.
  22. SWEET! Thanks for the pic.
  23. I stand ready to eat my words...
