  1. In todays endless information age a write in vote could work if the right peple organized it. Before getting everyone on the same page was diffacult but today it could possably happen. The problem is getting the electorial college to recognize it. And Zack you need to just get use to the canadates not being up to your sdandards. The media almost always pushes for the wrong pres. (I think because they will always have news stories) and the one that would more than likely do the best job they tear apart.
  2. I would think the poor spawining conditions was a result of the water release from the dam. Not haveing a steady flow and lake levels rising and falling either destrowing the redds or leaveing them high and dry.
  3. Was the air boat on tany or the rock?
  4. Belive it or not you dont have to fish the outlets when the water isnt running. Been going to tany for a couple yrs now and have never once fished the outlets and usually do pretty good now that I have a slight idea what Im doing. I watched the guys fishing there and it just doesnt look fun to me standing on top of each other getting tangled up and what not. If the water isnt running wade across at outlet two and walk up towards the dam to the point of the island and fish the unpressured fish on the other side
  5. I sure you know this but James A Reed in Mo and Herriatage Park and Shawnee Mission lake in Kansas all stock trout in the late fall. Ive never tried to fish for them but have been to the lakes and there is room to fly fish.
  6. Thanks man I have mentioned it to her and she doenst seem to have a problem with me going down there but that could change when the baby comes in mid sept. I will PM you when I know for sure.
  7. OK Im finally going to ask what is conclave? Ive seen you guys talking ablut it for a few years now and all I have gotten so far is its a big fishing show. Im willing to help if the wife is willing to let me off house arrest that weekend. That wont be easy with a one yr old and a newborn at that time. Probally wont be able to give you a deffinate answer till a few weeks before. By the way what weekend is it? I think your other post said it was in October.
  8. Is this legal in Arkansas? If so why would a person do this a few miles outside of Arkansas?
  9. Well I feel ripped off. Just how much money does a person need to spend there to get a hard backed catalog? Got mine today and it was the spring master with some special camping mini catalog. But hey if ny of you guys are interesting intradeing a big master for a little camping catalog let me know. JK
  10. I dont wear mine so close to my face so air can circulate behind them.(push them down farther on your nose) It seems to work
  11. I have found out the hard way that too much line can be a pain in the butt also. Now I just load them up about half way.
  12. I wish I knew how to do that quote thing but I agree with bigredbirdfan. Where does toefoo come from anyway?
  13. I belive when he said Chief he was referring to the screen name Chief greybear
  14. So a boater can be anchored up in the middle of the lake and not have lights on?
  15. As you might be able to tell I am not a boater yet. I am wondering what the advantages of turning you running lights off when fishing at night. I relize there is a speed limit at night but also there are the drunk boaters out there and maybe the lights wont help but I think I would want any kind of visiable thing I could get so other boaters could see you. I wouldnt think the red and green lights would alarm the fish being the rumor is they cant see these colors anyway and the white one on the back should only be visable after you pass the fish. I can understand the lights being turned off if its a battery wear down thing but other than that I dont get it. Dont take it the wrong way I just havent fished from a boat at night. And even if it cause a little harrasment just to let the baoter know there is someone watching would detour a thief. If a dock or home owner were to say hows it going to let there know they are there isnt too much harrasment.
  16. Hey Skeeter just a thought. I dont know how the rules of night fishing or boating are for sure but I would think that honest night fisherman would still have their running lights on and wouldnt be getting on docks and looking to snoop around in boats. Your neighborhood watch is a great idea but instead of getting yourself or one of you neighbors in trouble why dont you have the waterpatrol and police on speed dial and call if you or anyone else sees a boat crusing around without lights on or you see someone getting into boats and lockers. I can see if a fisherman has a bad cast and needs to get close to a dock to get unsnagged but I dont see anyreason they need to get onto or even within 5 or 10 yards of a dock. Thats the reason we have casting rods these days instead of the old cane poles.
  17. No I dont pay Mo property taxes. I live in Ks but work in Mo so I pay income taxes in Mo
  18. I know that Mo non-resident tags for fishing and a trout stamp are 47 bucks. That I dont mind but the hunting is a little different. Deer tag 175 bucks. Turkey 175 bucks. This I could understand if the person doesnt work or have lived a good portion of their life in Mo. I lived in Mo for 29 yrs and just moved to Ks 2 seasons ago. Still work in Mo so I still pay MO taxes just dont pay property taxes. I dont see why they dont set the price off tax returns and so some kind of prorated deal. I have 200 family acres that I used to hunt but cant now cause the price is too high. We still still pay the property taxes on the land in Mo just dont reside there.
  19. Leonard that has to be some kind of Tany Grand slam. The only thing left in the lake is Terrys squid. From the sounds of it the Squid wouldnt be too happy gettting stuck in the gil plate.
  20. DNR (dept of natural resources) If nothing happens then take pictures and go to the newspapers and have the public get involved. In todays going green attitude things like this wont go over to well with them. Just have to be carefull not to get the evil groups involved or you might lose the right to float the river or fish it.
  21. I was wondering about the soft plastic rule since all the different species of fish being caught in the upper portion of Tany. If a person is targeting fish other than trout such as eyes, or whites would soft plastics be OK or is just what it says "no soft plastics"?
  22. I agree with Al not everthing needs to be removed. But I do think think there are some areas when the water gets too high that needs some work done on. I know the Niangua the best and there are al least two areas where a S-curve is deep, narrow and very swift and full of stumps. I myself belive I am a good canoe navagitor and these areas are very tricky for me cause of not the river but the congestion and lack of experinced people. I mean there will be 15 boats stacked up going into these curves and then just as you get through another 20 boats watching all the boats flip. Granted there is usually a few guys helping out the upset boats but we all know the condition of these boaters and most will just get in the way of the rest trying to come through. I would think a little clean up in these problem spots wouldnt hurt a bit. It seems every river I go to has these areas. In my opion these areas are more dangerous thean the rope swings that are cut down yearly. I would like to see some numbers on the near drownings between a rope swing and these areas that I mentioned above.
  23. How has everyone else dealt with the high, off colored water ? Heck I gave up fishing down south, maybe for the yr
  24. You know I dont think the point of this post is to point blame at anyone. Regardless if it was the parents, the boys, the renting outfit, local authorities, or some spirtbeing it doesnt matter. The fact is that something terriable happened and there are family and responders that will have to live with this tragedy. Most of us on here will forget about this once we quit posting on it ( some wont like the people that know the family). So I have an idea, lets look at the situation see what happened and try and figure out how it can be prevented in the future. These stories scare the crap out of me being I have a young one and another on the way. The wife and I used to spend a lot of time floating and will continue to do so when the kids get old enough and I hope nothing like this will happen to anyone else but thats not the case. It will happen again but we need to do as much as we can to prevent it. Sitting around typeing about whos to blame is not the solution. I blame the log and the water thats what killed him. Ok now somebody try and figure out a way to sue the pants off the log and river. Anyway I getting off my box now and will start by giving a suggestion on how to stop these incidents. My idea is why ait for the gov. to clean the streams. There are several org,s that could put together clean up events, and I just dont mean trash. Fishing clubs, boy scouts, heck even the serria club, and hunting clubs. I know some of these groups do some good for our public areas but just imagin if someone were to put all these groups together on one stream a yr the good they could do.
  25. Man you have to be kidding me. We went the wrong way. we started out of Long Shoal and went south. Caught 3 keepers (one 14 1/2 and 1 1/2lbs), one blue cat, and a bunch of blue gill. Maybe we will go to tebo the next time
