  1. By all means report it. Not only is it stupid, it's also illegal because of the habitat destruction.
  2. Make the world cleaner, indeed...
  3. My first inclination is to have them machine gunned to death.
  4. When I went (in the early 80's) it was on an island above the arctic circle (Andoya). There was fly fishing for char on the inland lakes. There's also a good salmon run on the mainlaind.
  5. Don't know whether they do or not, but I've caught at least two that were about four inches long, perfectly formed and had parr marks.
  6. I've got a 9' Redington that I like a lot.
  7. And the knee deep water at the top end????
  8. Like it! That is one great idea if they'd do a little development on the South side.
  9. You know...That story is just about enough to make you sick! Chucked in the trash. Good grief.
  10. How about some Misc. rock scattered all the way down to KOA? The wading water doesn't stop a big hole...
  11. Man, those little bugger can scoot!
  12. Just my (outsider) 2 cents, but more signage (located at ALL the common access points from the outlets down to the last set of stairs past the boat ramp. Otherwise, it's too easy to plead ignorance by going farther downstream and more boots on the ground to enforce same. Otherwise, you will put up signs till hell won't have it and they will be routinely ignored, just like they are now (go down by the ramp and look at the jars, boxes and plastic wrappers). I especially like the idea of marking (over marking!) the mouth of Fall creek for the boaters. Then there is no excuse for anyone coming up from below and with PROMINENT signs at the ramp by the dam, maybe it'll slow down a bit!
  13. Si...which means yes in many romance languages...
  14. According to Caroline Parker at River Run, that's due to the mixing of the genetic strains at the hatchery. I caught one that I'd swear was a cuttbow...Complete with the red slashes under the gills.
  15. Maybe somebody else will chime in here but, I've used 5X and 6X exclusively. The only time I've gone below that is at a trout park. I use Orvis Mirage floro 6X... A 5 weight seems to be the best compromise between having enough back bone and too much. I took a 4 weight and a 6 weight, but I wound up using the 5 because it would throw buggers and soft hackles equally well. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Makes sense about the line weights vs. tippet size. I do know that you can bust 6X floro with a 5 weight St. Croix when they are running two generators and the fish heads for the banks...Especially when you get your BIG FAT FINGERS in the way of the reel handle. Seriously, I think there are a lot of variables to consider. If they are running water or it's early, couldn't you get by with 5X?
  17. I may have to start that habit! The one you loose is always bigger than the ones you catch...
  18. Anybody ever fish for hybrid bluegills? They'll be pretty much gone in a few months. The same kind of folks who walk right by the signs in the trophy area with the power bait and night crawlers will walk right by the signs explaining the difference between a regular rainbow and a triploid and they'll be hauling them out as fast as they get dumped in. A big push by the rabbit cops would definitely be necessary...
  19. The wife and I just returned from a week long stay in Branson. The wade fishing was good! Little or no generation most of the week. Monday we were able to get her first trout to hand and she was very excited, to say the least. We concentrated in the area below the boat ramp to avoid some of the crowd. Good numbers of fish were evident the whole time. We noticed a few with "heron bites", but other than that all seemed to be in excellent shape and beautifully colored. Her biggest was a 16" rainbow on a soft hackle and I took one about 18 on a woolly bugger. The hot flies for us were olive soft hackles in the AM, black soft hackles later in the day and olive woolly buggers. I also tried a black woolly and had a ton of hits on it, but no hook ups. I tried scuds when it was breezy, but I had no takers at all. Come to think of it, I've never caught a fish on a scud fly... When there were two generators on line, I had the most luck with the woolly's early and a large weighted red San Juan worm under and indicator @7 feet deep. I hooked one large bow on the SJ worm that felt like I had hooked a power boat. After it got about halfway through the fly line, I decided to put a little more drag on the spool with my fingers. Big mistake...the handle of the reel hit my wedding ring and stopped the spool. Needless to say, the tippet snapped! Oh well, lesson learned! We used 3 and 4 weights for the soft hackles and 5 and 6 weights to throw the woolly's and indicator rigs. Can't wait to come back!!! PS...Eat at Chester's!!!
  20. If you haven't tried Chester's, do yourself a favor and stop in. THE BEST sandwiches I've ever eaten...period. I had the Reuben and the wife had a grilled tenderloin. Both excellent, as was the mac and cheese. Reasonably priced and easy to find on the South side of 76, go East past Dick Clark's about a quarter/half mile!
  21. Welcome to the wonderful world of grandpartentry
  22. Agreed. I bought one as a "junk" line and found out it's better than some of my $50 lines...Absolutely cannot be beaten!!!
  23. Question Phil, how long do you suppose it will take to draw Table Rock down after they get done with Beaver?
