  1. I have noticed a few posts about time for float n fly, I know generally what it is but would like to know more about how to set up to the rig and when is the best time to use it. I would like to use it to catch crappie if possible. thanks Rusty
  2. Went Saturday, it was supposed to be windy so o chose to go to wooly creek instead of the main lake. Water was 54 deg . . Put in about 730 and fished to 11. I caught 13 and a couple of small bass but only had 3 that would keep ( had several that would barely touch the line but I didn't keep those). 1/2 way back in the creek on pole timber or brush in 17 foe on a char/white tube is the only way I could get bit. The 3 I cleaned were all males. Guess I should have went and tried the main lake. Had fun. rusty
  3. I'm glad you posted this when you did Hughsey, changed my game plan and wound up with 5 keepers today, didn't find them like you did but had fun. Thanks again

  5. alittle over a year ago at highpoint, me and a guy from my church went fishing. he backed me in and parked the truck, he said that he got the trailer a little crooked, when we got back my trailer had been turned completely sideways, so he straightened it out and we loaded the boat and headed back toward springfield on 123, there is a sharp corner before you get to 215 for morrisville and my trailer came unhooked. thank the Lord for safety chains..i found my pin that was locking my hitch in the back of my truck..

  14. my dad and i went to high point area friday, was allitle bit windy but not too bad, we had 12 keepers, we were catching them one brush piles 9-12 ft deep, fish were scattered you would only get 2 or so keepers at each stop. i was going to move out into deeper water to see if they were suspended but stuck with the brush piles. all in all it was a great day to be out but would have liked to have caught more fish..
  15. smoker welcome..300 bandits are crankbaits that alot of people troll for crappie in the summer..you can find them at bass pro or cabelas.. Rusty
  16. well it wasnt too bad..we wound up with 4 crappie, one bass and one drum..2 of the crappie were keepers..didnt find the fish until about 10 or 1030 and we were leaving at 11 or 1130..finally found some on a flat in about 26 fow running the bait about 15ft..didnt have time to get any new colors so the only color i had that they would bite was white ..just a word of caution when i was loading the boat i think i over heated myself, so all of you take care in this heat..thanks again for all you input my son had alot of fun and he caught the biggest fish which was the drum, he was bragging about that.. Rusty

  18. streamer that is awesome that you got into them just a couple of hours before the tourney ended. i have been fishing the hight point area and just wonder if i need to move back toward cedar ridge for deeper water..the video that i watched said that this should last all summer, do any of you guys agree with that..do they usually hit the crankbaits better early in the morning or late in the afternoon?? Rusty
  19. thank you for all your replies, looks like i need to get a few more colors and troll over deeper water..as for knowing my speed i put a gps on my graph and it tells me mph..i watch a video on midwest crappie about fishing crankbaits on sardis lake, he fished bandit crankbaits 200 and 300 series said to troll about 1.5 to 2.0. but you know how those fishing videos go they dont tell you everything that you need to know.. will this work all summer or do they quit at some point?? thanks again everyone. Rusty
  20. looking for some info on how to troll for crappie with crankbaits, tried running some bandit 300's for a little while this morning about 12 to 15ft deep, saw alot of fish on the graph but didnt get any bits..i am just starting to try to crankbait and was wondering if there was a certain color that works good on stockton, what speed that you like to troll at and what kind of banks do you usually do the best on or if you just get way out in the middle ..any info would be a great help on learning a new tactic..also fish brush in the high point area and only wound up with 4 keepers but did catch alot of small fish.. good fishin to all Rusty
