  1. sent you a p.m. lots of good choices.
  2. selling this boat for a buddy. it's in great shape. here's what he wrote up about the boat: "This boat is in pristine condition. On a scale of 1-10 I would give this boat a solid 9!! I purchased this two years ago and have only used it a handful of times. A metal plate has been fabricated to fit the rear deck. The deck will accommodate a trolling motor or extra storage for a long day on the water. This boat comes with two sets of oars. The Cougar's quad pontoon design is the latest innovation in the Fish Cat line of boats. Its 8' length and dual 10" diameter tube design increases the load capacity, stability, tracking and offers less wind resistance than a conventional pontoon boat. These features combine to keep the season open longer by staying afloat in as little as 3" of water. Its 10-piece aluminum frame and 7' 4 piece oars makes for compact storage and easy transport. He's asking $350. boat is located in kcmo, but road trips could be discussed especially if they include fishing options. p.m. me here and i can give interested buyers his contact info.
  3. how much for just the lifeproof case?

  5. sent you a p.m. a couple of weeks ago. i have a nice used redington crosswater, 9' 5wt. 4 piece that i'd pair with a tfo prism 5/6 large arbor spooled with a used but still in good shape s.a. mastery gpx 5wf line. sell you the combo for $100 in a face to face deal. if you're looking for a full flex rod, i have an older orvis silver label 8'6" 2 piece 5 wt. with the same reel, i'd sell that combo for $150. if either of these interest you, let me know.
  6. sent you a p.m.
  7. sent you a p.m.
  8. i'll second the recommendation for the lamson konic. great reel for the money and the drag is more than you will ever need around here. i have the 2 on my 5wt. check the classified forums here as well as other fly fishing sites and you can usually find them used at very reasonable prices. one of the best and most active classified forums is at washingtonflyfishing.com. check there and flyanglersonline.com. between here and those two, you can always find a bargain.
  9. Ditto on the rivertek boa boots. Solidly built and the boa lacing system is the bees knees.
  10. cotter to rim shoals is a great section of that river. roundhouse shoals always produces well for me. have floated it dozens of times in my pontoon, but never in a boat. know there are lots of guys who put in at cotter and do exactly what you are doing. if they run water you should be fine. if not, there are spots that are tough to get through even in my inflatable pontoon. don't forget sowbug is going on right now and there will be a lot more folks on the water than usual as well.
  11. was curious how the first day without felt soles in the park went. actively checked? anyone ticketed?
  12. I want a 9' 4 piece 5wt. that will increase my self-worth, make me more attractive to the opposite sex, make my wiener bigger and bring about world peace. short of that, i'd settle for a new outcast featherlight pontoon with some upgraded oars. actually pretty satisfied with my gear at the moment, but have always wanted a steffen brothers 8' 3 piece 5wt. fiberglass rod. also wouldn't mind a new pair of simm's guide waders.
  13. this was posted on another forum i frequent, but thought it was a pretty decent fish and does show that larger fish can be landed on a tenkara. cool looking carp too:
  14. the recommendation is to use no stronger than 5x tippet. had something very large take a black leech on my 12' iwana and broke me off instantly. fun way to fish and very similar to high stick nymphing in my humble opinion.
  15. go to mrfc.com and click on the clearance specials link on the home page, several reels for sale there. the best bargain in my opinion is the scientific anglers system 2L reels (page 7 on the clearance specials). unlike the s.a. reel described above, the 2L series are well made and have a nice drag. on the smaller side in my opinion, so i use the 6/7 size on my 5 wt. and it balances fine. plus, it's on sale for $70. nice reel and a steal at that price.
  16. roundhouse shoals always fishes well for me, on both sides of the island. fish the slower water in front of the first set of riffles and then work your way down. at the far end of the island where the water from the back side and front sides meet, there is a seam where i always finds fish as well. not sure what you call the section, but where that long line of big rocks are stair stacked up for several yards is another good spot to fish.
  17. #8 or #10 rubber-legged red squirrel nymph (whitlock pattern)
  18. just my two cents. i have had both a sit on top kayak and a canoe and got rid of both of them in favor of an inflatable pontoon (outcast oncilla). you do sacrifice some speed on the water, but unless you're fishing large impoundments, it wouldn't be noticeable. no issues of anchoring while fishing. simply hold myself in place with my fins while i cast. can move slowly and quietly while i fin along a shoreline and if i need to cover some ground, just hammer on the oars for a while. have floated the white and norfork tailwaters several times. in my experience, the pontoon drafts in skinnier water than the kayak or canoe and depending on the water depth on the river, if i see a promising spot, i just stand up and fish or put my feet down and hold myself on place where i am instead of beaching. i think the pontoon is a lot more versatile craft and depending on the model, most will break down small enough to fit into the trunk of a compact car. my buddy has an outcast fishcat panther that he routinely transports in the trunk of his honda. just something else to think about.
  19. you have any streamers in that fly box? would make sure you have at least one olive and one black woolly bugger in that box at least size 10, maybe an 8.
  20. i regularly do day trips to the white river (as long as the generation schedule cooperates). normally go to cotter, ar., which is a four and a half hour drive one way for me. hit the road by 3am. in the water by 8am. off the water by 4pm. back on the road by 430pm. usually make a couple of stops on the way back to keep myself awake. pull into the home drive around 930pm. long day, but worth it.
  21. fantastic fish! have always wanted to target carp with the fly rod. hooked into one on a 7'6" 4wt. fiberglass rod. had me into my backing in about 60 seconds and snapped the tippet as soon as i tried to put some pressure on him to slow him down. i bet yours was a great battle. did you put a tape measure to him?
  22. i do use the t-130 at bennett quite a bit. if the water is lower, i have a teeny 5' 3wt. sink tip i use successfully as well. i had a t-200 i threw on my 6 wt. and liked it quite a bit, though i think it might be overkill for a lot of sections at bennett.
  23. jim teeny makes some great sink tip lines. go to his website and you'll find tons of info there. i have the teeny t-130 i believe. throw it with my 5wt. and it handles it just fine.
