  1. Great pics. At leat the rain this round was not a huge system.
  2. The rainfall data did not upload properly? Most areas got at least 2" of rain but some did get up to 6" in small spots.
  3. A GIF summary of the rainfall for the region.
  4. Nice healthy looking fish. Nothing better than being on a remote section of stream catching fish.
  5. PC, I forgot to look at the guage for a Feb 29, 2008 reading. From what I see, you can only go back 30 days. The spring was around 2.5 on the guage and that was pretty fast on opening weekend. The river was stained opening weekend and in some of the wider areas with rapids, you had to walk sideways to reduce your profile or the footing could become tricky. Just guessing what the spring is doing now and comparing it to the river - I would say pretty swift. Plus the river takes longer to clear out (from what I have seen). I guess the good news is the spring looks like it has peaked so the rains may not be as significant as radar showed yesterday. Kansas has some rain moving that direction now.
  6. Those are probaby what you saw and probably too far north to be black bellied whistling tree ducks. The verbal description also fits these ducks that get in flocks of about 50 birds.
  7. I have fished some streams that were infested with gars. About 25% of the white bass and crappie I would catch had bloody scars on their backs. I am sure those big gars eat a ton of fish. So how do you hook / snag or keep a gar on with a ball? What kind? I have heard of the nylon before but not balls.
  8. Looks very nice, I bet that will catch trout and everything else.
  9. Welcome!
  10. Riffles, what riffles? Waiting for the water to go down.

Where do you find the link or the page previous to the water gauges for each specific location? Those are great links, but I can not go back to the main menu to pull up ABC River or location? Thanks.
  12. Nice looking fish PC. Hope the rest of your trip catches a lot of fish and the weather is good for you.
  13. As small as the creek is, fly rods would be fine to just flip or roll cast. I don't think you can really cast must at all in it. Some drift fishing and the pools are pretty small. If you can get the bigger fish to take some small bait, fly gear may be the way to go. A small spinning rod would work letting it drift down stream. Most places on the creek are not much more than 10 yards wide.
  14. Now that's sweet getting a jet motor! Welcome.
  15. For fly fishing, last weekend they were hitting olive jigs / flies. It was cold so couldn't convince someone to stick around and see what they were boiling the surface on (something tiny), as they were in a feeding frenzy. It was not trout pellets coming out of the hatchery, not sure what they were hitting. Tried some midge patterns but those did not work. Saw some decent fish but nothing really big. Probably a couple of 20" fish in the water about 3' deep. Did not work the area from the road to the river as that is deeper and no telling what was in there. A bunch of little fish up near the hatchery. Used 6x tippet.
  16. Bummer there was not more action. So where are all the big fish? I suppose all the boats below Fall Creek put a heavy toll on any potential of fish making to trophy size?
  17. I tried up at the Bennet Springs access area downstream of Hwy 64. Water is up and stained but should be good enough to throw some big flies. I tried to wade some areas but it was getting up into my fly vest and it was cold so I didn't want to get that wet. Did not have any luck today. Did not see any people fishing. I did see quite a few bait fishing on Saturday so that area may be cleaned out until the next stocking?
  18. It was cold (23 degrees) but not too bad down near the water where it helped keep it warmer. Only fished Sunday but olive wooly buggers were working. Tried some other jigs adn flies but were pretty much ignored. I thought with the recent rains some red wire worms would work or some variations of those and no luck. A guy fishing Saturday afternoon said he was having good luck on the black and yellow jigs, then just using a light yellow micro jig head. Water is still up and stained so you can get by with heavier tippet.
  19. Thank you Bobber!
  20. PC, Can you post the link for BSSP flow, I tried from www.nws.noaa.gov but can find any details on the smaller streams / rivers. Thanks.
  21. Has anyone been on the river in the last day or so? Wondering how it looks after the rains earlier this week? It was up last week and stained, I am guessing some muddy water still?
  22. Nice looking fish.
  23. Welcome. I was on the Guadalupe in January down that way. Lots of great streams here for trout. The Llano in your area is great also.
  24. Welcome!
