  1. The beak is why they are not doves. Colors can vary in different regions of the US or world. There is a possibility they have crossed with some pigeons, but then they would not be a pure dove. The Eurasain doves are the size of pigeons and very gentle. There is no season or bag limits either. At least all the Eurasian Collared doves I have seen do not have those traits.
  2. I say pigeon because they are missing the ring on the neck. If they had the collar, then I would say Eurasian Collared Dove. The Eurasian dove are pretty calm, not as wild as mourning doves or other doves. Their wing beat has a longer pauses and glides in it compared to a mourning dove. Very easy to identify in flight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_Collared_Dove The nose is different on this pair of birds and the wings are also of a different color.
  3. What are Litlle Cleo whites? Any pics or links to pics? Do those lakes have a ton of people around them? I guess the trout will be hungry so they may hit some dry fly action or is it all wets?
  4. Welcome to the forum!
  5. +1 Thanks for the report.
  6. Lots of big ones - rain drops. An exciting experience - all the electricity in the air. I had to get out of the water because I have felt soles on my waders. Looks like a lot of these folks have rubber soles so they won't get shocked? I'll save my odds to fish again. Early in the morning I noticed some orange glows and flashes, hmmm, it's not the 4th of July. The rain held off for a few hours. Mid morning and until lunch it was heavy enough rain that most of the crowds pulled out for shelter with a few still in the water. Being the last day, there were quite a few people around. No part of the stream was really open for some long cast and good drifts but you could find a few spots. Closer than I would like to have, 4 people in this area. Overall I would say the fishing was slow but could catch some fish every now and then. I was determined to catch a fish on a dry fly but could NOT do it. Had some lookers at attractor patterns but that is the best I had on any of the dries. Threw everything from #10 to #24. All catches were wet flies. Producers ranged from San Juan worms, a lot of colors were working. Eggs, jigs, nymphs, scuds and about anything you would throw would would eventually catch a dumb one. I did not see a lot of poles bent over but people did have some stringers. It seems to get better in the afternoon as the low level clouds pushed out and some humid baby blue skies peaked through the clouds. With the rain taking over the fishing it gives the opportunity for some photography. A couple of images from the stream. I fished from the spring in Zone 1 all the way to the dam. Also Zone 2 from the dam to the bridge next to Zone 3. I basically looked for an open area and tried that. Crowded in some areas where all that could be done is a roll cast in your lane, I avoided that. On the last day looking for a little room to cast. Although the fish did not cooperate with a great bite, at least I was outside. It looks like the Catch and Release season is going to be just a crowded.
  7. At least you caught some fish, better than a skunk. I find the webpage for the water generation levels a joke. It may just be the times I am there but it is never what they are projecting (at least it was that way last year). I understand the purpose of the lake is for electrical production and the disclaimers are if a power grid goes down some place they can have instant demand changing any forecast. It would be nice (if they do not have extreme heat or cold that would require electrical production) to look at the webpage on flow times and it actually happen!
  8. Thanks to Bman for the pointers on scuds!!! The Catch and Release is looking good. Bigger fish seem to be moving in. This one over 6 pounds.
  9. Oink, oink. That is a pig.
  10. Here's the field I hunt. The game there is to see if you can bag a limit with firing less shells than the bag limit!
  11. Glad you hooked into some. That's funny how they will dial in on a particular fly, then it's a blast. This year it seems the hot fly of the day is cold the next.
  12. That sounds very promising!
  13. Now that is funny, that would be great to do, but my luck I would get charged with impersonating an officer. That may help if everyone wore MDC caps! But sounds like the attitude of some they really wouldn't care?
  14. Thanks for the report and fly information.
  15. I was at Taneycomo and an agent came up with a clipboard wearing a hat to ID himself. I immediately pulled out my license to present. He said he didn't want to see it, he was just taking a survey. I guess they did that so people would feel comfortable in talking to them in stating the number of hours fished, number and size of fish caught, opinion of the fishing conditions, etc. I was disappointed he didn't check my license out. I think everyone there probably has what they are supposed to. Too bad they don't do a sting day with a lot of agents a few random times per year. The word would get out. Maybe a cell phone pictures or a quality digital image of those violating to hand over to the MDC if they do get there too late, they could track them down? I haven't seen any violations as I mentioned, but I kind of just pay attention to the fish and what I am doing. If I do see something, I'll take a picture and report it.
  16. That is a total shame where you went out of your way to assist them in reporting a violation and someone with attitude also, then they do nothing??? I hope OGT is not that way. That is pretty bold to fish bait in the trophy area and then to state he is aware of the rules and still violates them.
  17. At a cost of $10 million to install and $3 million annual expenses may explain why Table Rock let some water out at ZERO DO levels. I guess Arkansas has a much larger river system where they see how important the fishing industry is, so a minor expense compared to the total boost to the economy.
  18. I like it at stop signs where you see a pile dumped on the ground. Those eventually wash into the streams. Then to trash out the parks. I like it when there is a wide open section of the stream and a smoker has to get next to you upwind and light one up so all the smoke blows on me.
  19. Well, I think Jeremy's report needs to be taken in context. Keep in mind what he is used to as being "GOOD" - catching 100 fish in a day. When you know what the standards were and they are not that way any more, sediment washing in and things changed from how the were, that is what Jeremy is reporting. Now you still see a lot of fish in the water, people are catching some big fish as usual. What he is saying there are not as many as he as seen in prior years. So if someone can catch a dozen fish or 20 per day, they may think that is excellent. Maybe they can catch more or less than those estimates. Someone that has never been before or only been to other streams may really be impressed with what they see. It just isn't like it was. Keep in mind his grading scale. Not taking a defensive position for anyone on either side, but the reports have been up and down all year and it has been a hard year with the weird changes in water levels and temps.
  20. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. If the violations are that common and anyone sees it occurring, call it in. I will call in any I see. If the authorities are not notified and complaints just stay on this forum, then how will they know? I suspect they may respond to other calls that are coming in. If there are not any complaints about all the fishing violations that are occurring, how can they keep track of how much is actually going on? That’s a great suggestion for an agent to go there and check it out. I am sure it comes down to resources. So if someone has a < 15” trout in the trophy area, call it in. As it was mentioned, the issuing of a few citations will get the word out. There is no excuse for not obeying the laws. I make sure what every water system I go on that I understand all the rules for it prior to going out. I’m sure a few may innocently not realize a violation, but from what I am reading here, it looks like these are blatant.
  21. If they are standing next to you and the fish are snagged, take a pic and call OPERATION GAME THEIF! I can't believe someone has 4 fish on a stringer and is still fishing. Granted the Conservation Agents are thin but if you are standing right next to these people and don't help report it, the problem just continues. Sorry the weekend was like that. At least the C*R season is much better.
  22. What size tippet would you use for the scud?
  23. Nice weblink. Great to see there are plenty of supplies being sent over for the fishing. Everyone at home supports you guys.
  24. Sounds like the activity is good. It has been so weird this year with all the ups and downs.
