  1. Nice wrench! We did really well with articulated stuff this year on the largemouth.
  2. For me Sunburst to James has fished completely different since the floods. The 9" to 12" browns just seem to have vanished. Not sure if they have stocked since then but it has been weird.
  3. Like the other guys said you will want to rent or bring some type of watercraft at the current cfs. I would go with the pontoon very safe and easy to get in and out of. Stay at Sunburst Justin will hook you up with flies, watercraft, shuttles, advice and anything else you might need to have a good day on the river. If you don't want to trhow or struggle with the heavy two nymph rigs you can always strip a wooly. Dining near the river is pretty limited bring a lunch and eat on the river for dinner you could hit the store in Dora(cheap and decent) or eat at Dawt mill again Justin will point you in the right direction. The weather and flows look like they are going to be perfect this weekend and nothing beats a float down the NFOW this time of year you should have a great trip.
  4. Agreed. Congrats on the new boat Matt.
  5. Me too TC. The river is finally up mild weather with clouds the next few days I may come down with a sudden illness and call in sick tomorrow and Friday.
  6. Dang Brian you have been busy. Great stuff as always loved the shots of the kids. Noticed a certain boat ramp not normally seen in your videos have you been sticking any big browns on that section?
  7. This is what I do I don't even use herl anymore just ice dub. After I tie in the biots i just dub over the thread wraps.
  8. No sir you have company. Its just SOO hard to wait.
  9. I leave the collars off my princes but you can never go wrong with partridge.
  10. Nice Brian kind of a peanut envy/circus peanut hybrid very cool. Are you noticing an improved hook up ratio with a wider gapped front hook? I'm still mainly using the 9395's but I just got back from a trip to the White and couldn't stick a fish on my streamers to save my life. Are there any other wide gapped hooks you are using or like besides the 8089?
  11. Rain dance Justin rain dance. Hell sacrifice a chicken just to cover the bases.
  12. Fishing time has to at least equal window time. I live in Oklahoma so I always have a long drive to fish where I prefer to fish. I have broken this rule a few times when I just have to get out or the conditions are ideal.
  13. A sucker on a size 6 Pat's thats impressive. Man you guys need some rain up there.
  14. Brian great stuff all three reports were outstanding and Aaron's photos are top shelf.
  15. For sure Justin. We were going to try it this summer but when we got to Warren to drop off a vehicle it was a complete zoo so we passed.
  16. Nice Justin! That is a float I have always wanted to do.
  17. Mine arrived also Leonard. Thanks again man.
  18. Just got back from a four day trip the river is very low and very clear and the fishing was below average but not terrible. Still seems like a summertime bite.
  19. So true. Chance sounds like a really sweet trip. Pops has promised to get out with me this fall or winter and I can't wait for that trip.
  20. I throw a 300 grain on my 8 weight and a 200 grain on my 6 weight. My understanding is important to match the proper grain weight with the proper rod weight to avoid rod damage. To be honest they fish about the same in moving water. I know nothing about the sink tip lines.
  21. Thats the bread and butter on this river but there are usually plenty of bugs on the river and a guy should fish how he wants so don't be afraid to throw a dry or swing a wet fly especially if you run into a nice hatch or see activity close to the surface. Honestly we have never done very well on top but we have caught fish that way and I have seen other people do it. Don't forget streamers in assorted colors if the nymph bit is off strip a wooly or something similar and see if that works.
  22. Justin is right on about the camping there are a few places a guy could camp in the trout section but honestly all of the private campgrounds Justin listed are right on the river and are very pretty. They will also be close to empty the time of year your talking about going so you will basically have the places to yourselves. At Sunburst you will have conveinence of bathrooms/showers, ice, supplies and a fly shop 50 yards from the river but can still camp in a fairly secluded spot if you choose. Our statndard two day trip when staying at Sunburst would be a float from Kelly ford to Sunburst the first day and Sunburst to James bridge the second day. You cover almost all of the trout water between these two floats and usually get off the river early enough to get home at a decent hour the second day.
  23. We found another pod of them this weekend they were in a deep hole just above the last shoal above James bridge probably 20 plus and they were huge. On that section of the river bait would be an option.
  24. Obedience training starts the day you bring the dog home you can do this on your own pretty easily. Any formal training usually starts at 6 months or after their adult teeth are in. If you send your dog off for formal training you can expect it to cost between $400 and $600 a month. The length of stay strictly depends on the level of training you want for your dog. Right now get a good book or friend with experience to get you started with the obedience you can decide later on down the road to what level you actually want the dog trained ie force fetch, collar conditioned, hand signals etc etc... but the main thing is get that ob started from day one.
  25. Nortrad glad to hear you are finally getting back to the NFOW. I will be there for 4 days the week before I will make sure I get you a report.Good luck. Justin I wanted to swing in and see the fly shop this weekend but everytime we floated by we were to busy bailing water out of my boat to stop.
