  1. I hunted in Clark county with my brother and his wife. My brother got a nice 8 pointer and 2 does, his wife got a nice 6 pointer, and I got a small 6 pointer on Saturday. Nothing on Sunday. duckydoty
  2. Two top colors for me in Awesome Possum is natural light and natural brown. Beaver has been hot lately and hare's mask has been gaining ground. I also like natural brown rabbit cut right from the hide (Dont get too much of the grey). The color is about the same as the Awesome Possum natural brown but the texture is a little finer. Another question to ask would be-- Do you prefer your sow bugs fat and juicy or on the skinny side? I tend to tie mine on the fat side and I like to use flourescent orange thread to make a nice head. duckydoty
  3. Jerod, I think I'll sit this weekend out on the fishing part(going duck hunting instead) but I might be able to make it Monday night. I'll look for your truck. duckydoty
  4. Ron, Most of the ashes fall in the front of my waders. The butts are feild stripped and put in the fly vest. duckydoty
  5. Do your birthday plans include any fishing at Taney? duckydoty
  6. Ryno, that was a pig of a fish you caught. I'll email you some more of the pictures that I got of you. Duckydoty
  7. I've got a few pictures of fish that have been caught over the last week. Some of them by people that have been fishing with me, some by me and some by people that were just fishing down there and I saw them catch a nice fish. All the fish were released unharmed, even the one with a stringer hanging out of it's mouth. That was my brother's 1st big fish and he was thinking about keeping it. I told him to take the stinger out of it's mouth because it looked "stupid" in the pictures. He agreed and I took more photo's with his camera. Then I told him to go ahead and get measurements of the fish and so he did. I then said well, now you've got the measurements and photos, there is really no reason to keep the fish. He agreed and let it go. I told my brother he made me very proud for releasing that fish and in the end I think he felt very good about it too. Duckydoty
  8. There were very few people fishing the other night during the rain and even fewer people fishing last night. Alot of the female browns have dumped their eggs, but still alot of good fish up. duckydoty
  9. I'll be headed that way about midnight. Somethin tells me they're gonna shut her down after midnight. duckydoty
  10. I sat in front of Stack for 6 hrs during the Sow Bug this spring and watched him tie one Atlantic from start to finish. Yes, that was amazing, and I would love the chance to do it againg. I purchased one of his DVD's at the conclave. duckydoty
  11. John It was good to meet you down there too. I ended up with an 8 1/2 pounder and 2 20 inchers. Dave (my little brother) got his biggest ever--A 12 1/2 pounder. Caught them between outlet 2 and 3. I was chucking and ducking with a shooting line fishing none weighted sculpins (pine squirrel) Dave caught his on a bead headed olive wooly bugger. We should be able to walk on fish as soon as they turn that water off. duckydoty
  12. Terry Where you at on this one. "How to get eatin by a bear at Taney" Formal training designated only by the wearing of the triangular pin. duckydoty
  13. I should be on the water around 9 p.m. My brother is coming down and gonna give them big browns a try. Anybody else gonna be there tonight? duckydoty
  14. Here's a picture. Sorry it took so long.
  15. flyman your welcome to fish with me anytime. I'll try and get the picture of your fish posted later today. Naknek fish would definately kick Taney fish butt! They dont give up untill your arm is about to fall off, your gear has been truely tested and you've ran down river 1/4 mile or more duckydoty
  16. I got to Taney around 4:30 p.m. and just walked around and visited with the day shift crew. They were all hard at it, mainly consentrated from outlet 2 on down to the big hole. Watched an older gentleman catch and release a 30" 18 pound brown below #2. That fish walked him up and down the lake for a good 20 minutes. Looked like he was just walking a dog around. Spoke to a few fellas that said a bunch of good fish had been caught. Walking up and down the bank, I spied 5-6 really big fish on the north side above #3. Once it started getting dark and the day crew started going home I started getting the night gear ready. When George showed up we started fishing between outlet 2 and 3 working the bank where I had seen all the big fish. Very slow bite there. I only caught 1 fish and had just a few bites on black and purple mohairs. We decided to work the gauntlet down to the big hole. The bite was a little slow there too. When we got to the big hole I decided to put on a none weighted matuka and slow strip it. Finally started picking up some fish with some regularity. 3 in a row. Walked up to George to show him what I found to be productive and he was in the process of fighting a fairly nice brown about 20" long. Called it quits around 11 p.m. duckydoty
  17. I have found that white will usually produce from the flats below outlet 1 to the cable. Some nights are really just good that way. duckydoty
  18. You should be ok with 5x during the day. You stand a much better chance of getting the fish in faster with out killing it on 5x during the day. If your fishing after dark you should really beef it up to at least 10 lb. test. I've started using 12 lb. and will probably go up some more in another week or 2. duckydoty
  19. Eric owes all of his distance to the one-on-one instruction with Bruce the night before. duckydoty
  20. Thanks Brian vanven----THAT'S FUNNY duckydoty
  21. With all the new lights around the pavilion it is almost impossable to see someone fishing above the rebar riffle when walking up from the big hole or gauntlet. A little flash would be great. duckydoty
  22. I just got back from a short trip out tonight. I think the water went on about 4 p.m. and they shut it off at 6 p.m. Took a long time to drop tonight. Still was not all the way down by 9 p.m. The bite was a little slow for me to night--only one to hand Did get quite a few LDR's and short strikes. Used dark colored mohair leeches. Saw quite a few big fish staging at the base of the ladder while it was still daylight out. A fella from the hatchery was down there looking at them also. He informed me that none have made it all the way up yet, and he thinks they will really have to crank 4 generators hard to get the lake level high enough to allow the fish to climb the ladder. A bunch of little ones were trying. flyman my cell number is---hugh---let me go get my phone and look at it. I forgot what my number is--------- OK, it's 417-396-2575 Give me a call and we'll figure out a time duckydoty

  24. flyman I would be happy to help you out on Thursday night. I'll bring the flies that work best for me and show you how to fish them at some of my favorite holes. It would be nice to start just before dark and I can only fish till 11 or 12 depending on how the fish are biting. duckydoty
