  5. Had a great time Scott! I did enjoy Beaver Lake and will be returning. The lake definately does not get the attention and publicity that is deserves. What a jewel. I think I got the striper fever!
  6. Have not heard any reports on the giant squid down on Lake Taneycomo that haunts the night fishermen.... Just got back from St. Louis and might have figured out why Spied this Guy at the zoo and I know where they got him from
  7. Were still early yet. Favorite time to fish them is 1st week of April
  8. Gett'em Brother Dave!
  9. fished last night right across from Blunks and down stream. Caught one on the flyrod. Guys on the bluff side were doing ok.
  10. Ohhhhhhmanohhhhman, I'm getting excited!
  11. If im just chasing trout in Missouri, I have found I catch more "trophy fish" if I target the bigger fish. When I'm targeting bigger fish, I tend to cover more water looking for that one fish I want. My success rate on the trophy fish has greatly increase since adapting this approach. I do enjoy the numbers game but rarely do I catch a trophy fish when I'm just looking for numbers. My gear and equipement do not change, just my style of fishing. While in Alaska, and running the rivers in jet boats, I prefer to have as much of the river to cover as possable. If I get in a spot that is producing well, I will stay there for quite a while and then blow through the rest of the river at the end of the day.
  12. I hunted during the rifle season one year with the 44 Ruger Super Blackhawk and Iron sights. It was awesome!
  13. They actually took me. You should do good tomorrow. I'm outta the action till Wed. night. Gotta make a run up to STL, but when I get back, it's gonna be full steam ahead for 3 weeks straight.
  14. dont need that till Oct. Need sauger Tuesday
  15. Well, maybe you should go to the river tonight.......some sauger would be good!
  16. I got some crappie. Should be enough. Got some goose thats been marinating for a day now too. Make poppers to go with the fish
  17. Tell mom we can fry fish Tuesday
  18. I'm sure you got the report 1st hand. Suprised we have not seen you on the water yet, or had you fishing with us.
  19. Scott, You killed me yesterday when you sent me the picture. My buddy and I were chasing crappie and I showed the pic to him. The crappie just werent as exciting after that. Well, for having family in town, and not even supposed to be fishing, I guess I cant complain.
  20. LOL! your killin me Rick! I laughed about that fella all day
  21. Yeah, we needed 13 more for the limit. Knew we werent anywhere close to that.
  22. LOL! My buddies kid counted them.....We took his word for it. Dang we did better than I though we did! Cool! And besides that, I still had my shoes on
  23. I was dead set on staying home and tying flies today. Got up at 6:30 a.m. and started tying. By 8 a.m., I already had 3 dozen cranked out. Then I got the phone call. A buddy of mine calling and started twisting my arm. I'm telling you, he was twisting hard. I think it went something like this......Hey, you wanna go........and at that very moment, it was hurting soooooo bad that I caved and cried uncle. I was in. Turned out we were going to hunt for some crappies. We did not get on the water till about 1 p.m. and we put in down below Cape Fair Marina. Pulled up to a bluff transition, found a brush pile and started catching slabs. Only fished about 2 1/2 hours and put 15 keepers in the boat, probably caught another 20 shorts. We were throwing small jigs in just about any color would work as long as it was within 2 feet of some brush in 8 to 15 feet of water. water temps were reading 52 to 54 degrees. Now that my belly is fully of fresh fried crappie......time to get back to tying flies.
  24. Thats funny! I guess I'll call you next time while I'm catching them. Keep them warmed up for ya. Should be a good day for it today!
  25. Good luck to you and post a report
