  1. Been a little slow the last couple of days on the Rock. Been messing with a goose here and there. The golden eye are always willing to play, but the mallards are thinning out and wising up. They are getting a little harder to come by. Back out on the Rock this morning then heading to Four Rivers or Schell tomorrow.
  2. We had deer strogenoff made with back straps for Christmas Eve dinner. It was fantastic.
  3. Love the maps ap on my phone as well. The locator on it works off of satilite and I use it all the time to find my way around Table Rock at 5 in the morning with fog. Got all my blind locations marked on it. Love It!
  4. Just picked up a goose this morning for poppers.
  5. Hunted Table Rock yesterday morning over by the dam. Around 10 a.m. not seeing a bird all morning we decided to pick up and call it a day. While picking up the last 2 decoys, at least 30 mallards showed up locked in on our cove. They circled 3 times right over the boat before moving on. This morning I hunted with a couple of other fellas from the area. We hunted a long point this morning and 10 minutes after shooting time a small group of Canada's came by to check things out. 2 of them fell from the sky. Shortly after that 3 golden eye buzzed on in and one of them were dropped. Did not see anything else flying for a while so we packed it in about 9:30. Happy to have dropped a Christmas goose on Christmas Eve morning. They both came wrapped in a little jewelry too!
  6. That is one of the few rivers that I have not yet fished in Mo. I'm gonna have to get over there some day
  7. Welcome to the forum. I sure do like that dam store!
  8. Man o man it has been some tough hunting the last couple of weeks. We got a few birds a couple of weeks ago and we've been stale for a while now. The birds are all just north of us waiting for some ice to come down. I was out again this morning hunting a cove by the dam on TR and we saw 2 ducks flying sky high at day break. That was it. I was considering hunting Taney tomorrow, but I guess it's still the same down there.....no ducks. I guess I'll keep hunting the points on TR and playing with the divers untill we get some nasty weather.
  9. I will let you know Marty. How can a man turn down an offer like that. I think that is the perfect excuse to have to go back to Shell next week. "Honey, I have to go. Marty has some jerky for me. It's not to go duck hunting....Really!"
  10. We hunted Schell yesterday and should have left the duck decoys at home. Could not believe all the canadas flying over all day. Nothing to bring them in, since we thought we were just duck hunting. Looks like another great trip with the significant other!
  11. Been runnin and gunnin the last three or four days with my wife, brother Dave, and my wife's kids hunting ducks all over southwest Missouri. We started on Table Rock lake with the wife and her daughter. I posted a report on that hunt already. Then my brother and wife's son came into town. We went over to Upper Bull Shoals to see what was happening over there. Not much. We dropped one wigeon. That afternoon we headed over to Table Rock and put out 4 dozen goose decoys in front of a spot where the geese like to roost some times. Well about 6 minutes after shooting time, they came in. We headed home and changed all the gear around, took a short nap and headed to Schell to try our luck. Drew pill 35 outta 38 parties and ended up in G2. Should have brought all the goose decoys out there because we had Canada's flying over all day. Ended up getting 3 greenheads between the 3 of us. All the birds came off the refuge and filled the pool after shooting time was over. This morning we were back on Table Rock chasing divers. We bagged 3 golden eye one ringer and a greenhead. Best hunting in the last three days was the back yard.
  12. It seems over the last few years when we've done this, there has always been times of no generation. I cant speak for last year though, because that is the only one I've missed.
  13. I'll be up the James for sure that time of year.
  14. Try down by Cedar Point. The very tip of the last island is usally a pretty decent spot. Might get a chance at some geese there too. Good luck to ya buddy. Hope you guys do well.
  15. They work good in some parts of the parks, but the park fish have not lived in a wild stream all thier lives. They are use to feeding on pellets.
  16. Sounds like you had a good day Russel. See any ducks up that way????
  17. I hunt points and coves on Table Rock that do not have docks and houses too close. The ducks tend to shy away from them anyway.
  18. I set up in the wrong spot today Matt. Set up on the north side of a cove and all the ducks landed about 80 yards away from my decoys on the south side. I knew better than to hunt where I've been seeing ducks rather than hunting the wind. The pocket water just sucked them right in. I marinate my ducks in 1 can Mt. Dew, 1/2 cup soy, 1/2 cup worchestershire sauce and some hot sauce. Then you can make poppers, stir fry or fried duck fingers out of the marinated meat.
  19. That is great your daughter is getting into the hunting.
  20. Awesome. I should be headed to SE Missouri after Christmas to try and get some of that action.
  21. Glad you got some time hunting with your son. That makes for a grand goose. We ended up with 2 greenheads a scaup and a golden eye. Back at it again in the morning. Hunting solo tomorrow.
  22. Looking good Chief. Were gonna have to get together and take CD out on the Lake duck hunting. That will work perfect on lower Taney or upper Bull Shoals in a couple of spots I know. It should be another week or two and the ducks will be thick down here.
  23. Ive been hunting between Kimberling City and the dam. I've hunted every day and only had 4 or 5 really good days on the Rock so far. You are right about the birds. Most of the are still up north of us, but our time will come. Marty, Had golden eye tenders in a stir fry last night with a peanut sauce and pod Thai noodles ... AWESOME!
  24. Tuesday morning and we will be busting birds together! Whoop! Whoop!. Hury up and get down here!
  25. They are not as good as mallards gadwal and shovelers but wrap anything in Bacon and its good
