  1. My wife MonaChari and I got out this morning on Table Rock Lake for a little duck hunting. The main objective was for her to take some pictures of the greebs that have been hanging around. She would not put the gun down to grab the camera. She kept saying, I'm hunting right now every time the greebs came by. Lately when I've been hunting, I've been lucky to see 35 ducks a morning and that includes the ones at a distance. This morning we counted well over 150 and we even had a few come in to take a look. MonaChari bagged her first greenhead this morning
  2. My mouth was waterin lookin at them pictures! Got all my deeks moved to the north shore of a cove on Table Rock this evening for the north wind tomorrow and brushed up a small blind so the wife and I can hunt in the morning. Not expecting anything but looking forward to spending the morning on the water with my wife and taking some pictures.
  3. Nice hunt. I goose egged it again this morning. Saw no geese and only about 12 ducks. We need some cold fronts to come soon. Hopefully this weekend will make a difference. Going back out this afternoon to pre set up for the north wind tomorrow. The wife is gonna go and take some pictures of all the greebs that have been hanging around
  4. Great story. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I like to marinate them in Mt. Dew and then make poppers out of them. I will have to try turning some of the goose into jerky. I've been threatening to do it for a couple of years now.
  6. Glad you got on some fish Russ! I should have passed on the ducks today and fished, but you just never know. I was off the water by 11 a.m. Lots of fish midging on the lower end.
  7. Ive broke 4 inches with sledge hammers and axes to hunt before up in the north zone. I'm not that young anymore
  8. Those are my favorite 2 weeks to fish the Naknek River for monster Bows. The river is big, but you have to remember...Any one cast could produce a possible pig. This 36 incher came on th 14 of Sept. 2010 just below Jim Johnson's place. If I could fish one river every day during my season in Alaska, it would be the Naknek!
  9. Now that is a good deal. I dont like the black out dates in June, but I'll be able to take advantage of it in Oct.
  10. It was 21 on Taney this morning. Had a few more birds look from a distance and two geese make a couple of passes at high altitude. Saw a total of about 35 ducks this morning. Nice morning to be out and no one else was on the water???? Blue Bird!
  11. It was slow for me yesterday. Just one goose on Table Rock. Hunting lower Taney right now. Seen a fee birds. Had one chance at a small flock of gaddy's and missed. Not much else happening. Sun sure does feel good.
  12. Nice fish! Even if they are stinkin small mouth
  13. I had 4 of them land in front of me on Lake Taneycomo last year while duck hunting. I saw them for about 3 days before they moved on. Hope to see them again this year.
  14. Thought there would be a few more birds flying around today. Hunted Table Rock and got 2 green heads and one woody.
  15. We managed one lone goose also, along with a mallard drake and a gaddy. Not much bird action, but its been fun. Heading out to look for some more geese right now.
  16. I've only seen ice down there in the cove areas and close to shore when its been really cold for a week or two. There are quite a few hunters down there. Like everything, the weekends are the worst. Ducks and geese to hold on Lower Taney when everything else freezes up. Some good hunting can had down there.
  17. You had a pair of wader last 15 years? What brand were they? I would recommend going with the non felt version of them.
  18. Good fishing in that area. I usually fish a little above that area. Midges always work on Taney. Lately, I've been doing good on white chamy worms and micro eggs. Night fishing is a good time to throw streamers if the water is off. My go to streamer is a white mink sculpin, but olives, blacks, and othere colors will work also. Make sure your gonna check out the area during the day that you want to fish at night. Watch out for them new boulders, they will trip you up for sure.
  19. I'll have to try long lining them this year. Taney has been a fantastic body of water for me to hunt. I like Table Rock because it is only 1/2 mile to the boat launch. I usually get limits 5 or 6 times a year on Table Rock. Most other days are 1 to 3 bird days. I pulled limits off Taney 13 days last year so as you can see both of them have thier own draw.
  20. Yes I do enjoy! Thanks for sharing.
  21. Yep. That is about the only way I could get into basketball. Sounds like a fun way to pass the day. I just need them to fly about a 1000 ft lower and I could pass shoot them all day at my house. I've only had them land close on Table Rock Lake twice but not close enough to get some shots off. Scouted every cove nook and cranny on Table Rock today from Coney Island all the way past the Show boat, Branson Bell hoping to see some of the snows on the water. Notta! Just found one small group of Canada geese. Got a report of some migrating mallards in that area a couple of days ago. Estimated number around 1500 to 2000. They have moved on. Table Rock can be hit or miss. When birds are migrating it can be hot, hot, hot. Otherwise it is pretty slow hunting. A couple of golden eye here and there and a mallard once in a while. That is why I mainly hunt Lower Taney. More ducks holding down there and this year I have been exploring Upper Bull Shoals. There are some good looking spots down there that have been holding ducks this week. Come on Turkey Day (opening day here)!
  22. That is AWESOME! I'm sure the place is loading up today. They been flying over my house on Table Rock non-stop all day.
  23. I like the looks of that spread of geese. Makin my mouth water!
  24. I just got back from a scouting trip on the "Duck Duster". Only took 1 hour 15 min to scout every cover from Coney Island to the Branson Bell. Season opens Thursday.
  25. Ok, I could settle for some Big Smith then
