  1. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Happens to me all the time down there and that is a shame. Some people just dont know any better. Sometimes when I'm feeling ornery, I will just keep laying line out across thier arms, especially if it is in water that I was already fishing. Once they back off, I will leave the hole and find somewhere else to fish. I've found it usually does not do any good to say anything to them about it. They usually feel they have the right to envade the hole you are fishing and impead your ability to cast in it.
  2. Well, if your gonna start fly fishing....might as well be in Alaska. Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you on the water, and tight lines!
  3. Most of mine goes to that fella, Bill and his other brothers....named bill also????
  4. Welcome back to Missouri, inshore. Glad you joined the forum. I'm sure you'll find fishing fresh water is like riding a bike. It'll come back to you real quick.
  5. Nice to have you here and like Laker said....Where ya fishing?
  6. Well, its about time you started joining in on the fun around hear. Lookin g forward to you fishing reports and don't forget to post some pictures of the flies you are tying. Welcome to the forum!
  7. I think you are right. Just to the left, not in the picture, there was another track.....I think it was a bear track.....looked like it was stalking the wounded mt. lion tracks??????
  8. LOL! I think it is the net that sets this whole picture off. You see this is a custom made net that was given to my wife as a birthday present and made by one of our very own fello OAF'ers. It is a very special net, and I probably should not have been using it today. The picture was taken with a camera phone, so it is not really very good quality. Feel free to save it and print it.
  9. MC does not know I had her net, but then again, I was designated "Net Boy" by her a few years ago. I'm glad she left it in the car. Mine is in the truck and the truck is stuck in the yard. Lots of deer tracks out there today and duck tracks. Ducks everywhere down there today. I do not know if it is a deer track in the picture though.
  10. On your way to France, thinking about Crane.....I like the way you think, Tim.
  11. That is funny! I had one of those eel things in 85 or 86, and never caught a single fish on it either. Finally one day when the fella borrowed the stereo out of my truck, he also helped himself to the tackle box with the eel in it. Never did replace the eel.
  12. Thanks Tim. Hopefully this snow melting will bring the water up some. I did not even try going to the upper end for fear of no water.
  13. Welcome to the forum Larry. Looking forward to reading your reports about the fishing in your area!
  14. Decided to fish the Lower End for a couple of hours today. All roads to the access are in great shape. The parking lot was still covered in snow. I saw no people or tire tracks in the snow anywhere. Tied up some bead headed nymphs yesterday with lots of extra weight just for fishing today. I called them "Depth Charges". Tied one on in the parking lot and headed to the water right by the bridge. I got a little startled when 50 or more mallards flushed just as I poked my head over the bank. That was a lot of ducks for such small water. Found a nice run just in front of the first log jam and made a drift polish nymphing style. Hooked up on the first drift with a 6 inch, beautifully colored McCloud. Worked my way down stream picking up a fish hear and there and marking the better holes to consentrate a little harder on when I made my way back up stream to the parking lot. On my way back up I wanted to climb out on a log jam to fish some water that was unaccessable from the bank. Once I got out there I could see 4 or five trout in the bottom of the pool. Dropped my fly in an the biggest on in the hole came right up and slammed the fly. I way overset the hook out of excitement, snapped the fish off and allmost fell in the water. I did manage to land one nice McCloud today in a deeper run just below that log jam. One of the biggest McClouds I have ever landed. Great day on the Creek. Should be in great shape for this weekend.
  15. If there is no generation, fly fishing the upper section should be very productive. The rebar hole down to the rocking chair should be fishing great with midges and sow bugs. Soft hackles should do very well also. If you have any white mink sculpin patterns, I would suggest throwing those and stripping them back in. The flats between outlet 1 and 2 have been fishing real good with no generation also on midges about 12 inches below the smallest indicator you can find. Size 14 black zebras have been working the best. If you are going to be in a boat try motoring up to Point Royal area and throwing midges and soft hackles or on the back side (bottom) of Lookout island. If no generation, I would not motor up beyond Lookout. Pot hole could be a little tricky with no water running. I was over there about 2 weeks ago and you could wade out to the rock pile. I'd be careful with a boat in there right now.

    Deer

I have noticed the road hunters in my area also. Same vehicles cruising up and down the road over and over again all day long during deer season. I have not actually witnessed the act, but I'm sure it is happening. The biggest problem I see where I live is people driving too fast for the winding, curving road we live on. Several road killed deer all year long. These are the folks that are saying shoot them all. They are tired of all the vehicle damage caused by the deer. All they need to do is slow down and not drive 55 around a blind corner.

    Deer

Nice deer. I live on Table Rock and my whole family comes down to hunt during deer season. I mean my whole family, Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law, Step Son, Step Daughter, Sister, Nephews, and even friends. Everyone usually gets at least one deer, and most fill both taggs. Now you are right about the size, body wise, they are not as big as the deer up north, but there sure are alot of them. I think we had 8 deer hanging under the car port on opening day. Even after deer season was over, my wife and I counted 28 of them one evening in a 4 mile stretch of road heading to our house.
  18. He was way better at the game. Wasn't paying attention to his rod and missed several bites. I just cleared my pm box. Had fifty messages in it. I'll have to get her to log in to get the message.
  19. Every time I've been in the woods and hear 3shots in a row, first thing that comes to my mind is.....they missed, especially when out duck hunting. When guiding in Alaska last year during King Salmon season, I had a guest that brought his cell phone so he could play a fishing game in the slack time between bites while back trolling. I thought it was rather amuzing that he was getting just as excited about playing the game as when we were really catching real fish.
  20. Lilley's john boats are perfect for fishing Lake Taneycomo and I would fully recommend one for the full fishing experience. Just continue to watch Phil's fishing reports each week and you will have a good idea what to expect. Make sure you have the right line spooled up on your spinning gear. Lilley's tackle shop sells everything you need to catch trout and they will be able to tell you the hot colors, techniques, and locations while you are there. Hope you enjoy your trip. Great place to stay.
  21. Great report Rick. Glad your getting some time on the water.
  22. I remember the days of pouring weights for spoonbill season very well. I would always do it in Jan. or Feb. with snow on the ground to help cool the molds faster. Use to pour 600 pounds of weights a year. Three guys would collect all the lead during the year. Another guy would melt down the wheel weights, clean the lead and pour it into ingots, then I would melt down all the ingots and pour the sinkers. Use to pour jigs for trout fishing during this time also. Must have had 20 differnt molds back then.
  23. There, got them fixed.
  24. Its tough to post a report from your phone. Lots of funny looking words get in there
