  1. Giant squid
  2. Water temps in Flat Creek were 53-54 degrees today. Water is stained a little and a little mud in it still but good crappie color. Fish did not bite as well today as yesterday and day before, but still found some just off the banks in brush and some suspended on pole timber only about 3 feet deep in 20 feet of water. Lots of snaggers to dodge on the main lake channels. Found water temps all the way up to 56 degrees down by Virgin Bluff today. Started in that area and should have just went straight to Flat Creek. Caught lots of shorts, and I mean just barely short along with enough keepers to make a nice meal.
  3. You will have to make the lighted indicator yourself. Pick up small glow sticks in the bobber section at Wally World. They are 1/8 inch in diameter and 1 1/2 inch long. Also pick up some small crappie peg floats that are 1 1/2 to two inches long with a diameter of about 1/2 inch. You will have to drill out the peg hole a little and use the glow stick as the peg. I usually use a sharpie to color the foam crappie float black.
  4. Nymphing under a lighted indicator works well at night. You have to know the water. Fish it during the day in specific spots and pay attention to your mends. Mend the same way at night in those spots. I use larger scuds and sow bugs at night than during the day. Some of the egg patterns I have used at night have been as big around as nickles. We called them Big Flamingo Eggs.
  5. How did you know I was planning on crappie fishing during the tournament???? Ya never know, I might luck into one of the bass things looking for crappie.
  6. I am. Just got my employment agreements yesterday. Report for duty on June 9th.
  7. Nice report Darin. Glad you and your dad got into them. You thinking about going back to Alaska?
  8. Haha! My guide trip just for Saturday just cancelled! Im able to attend!
  9. Started in the K Dock area at day break. Fished till 4 p.m. Fished different spots all the way up to Swan and back down again. Boated two bass. Had to work hard for them today. Water temps were 42.5.
  10. Great report. Ive been hearing some good things about other species over there this weekend.
  11. The boat can be going up stream or down stream ever so slowly working the edge of the roll off. Also, after 5-6 jerks to get the bait down, the slow retrieve part starts. This retrieve is even slower than I thought possible. Because of this slow retrieve, the bait ends up behind the boat.
  12. Thanks for the report. I would be happy with just one eye to show for a day spent out there. Im pretty sure those big schools of fish are whites? What was the water temp around K Dock?
  13. 6 wt 450 grain skagit with no floating leader. Just not quite enough room to throw a D loop. We got some more dock extensions going up soon that will give us another 2 feet of casting room. Might be able to do a real cast then.
  14. Sometimes you just can't win for losing around here. No matter what you post, someone is going to complain.
  15. Thanks for all the great responses guys! Im hoping to read a few reports from others on here over the weekend. I wont be able to make it back out there till Monday.
  16. Can CFM put this on there site like they did the last bill? It sure made it easy to contact my representatives. I got responses from both of them on the last issue One by email and the other by a real letter in the mail? The latter one seems like a waste of 47 cent stamp, paper and printing cost.
  17. Been catching lots of big whites up around snap and off the flats around Kdock area. Most of them have been out in 30-40 feet of water in giant schools. Some of the schools are a hundred yards long or more on the graph and stacked from the bottom all the way up to 10 feet of water. Trolling flicker shad through them seems to turn them on. Been picking a few up by accedent on jerk baits up in shallower stuff, but usually leave once we catch one. Not what we have been targeting.
  18. Cooper creek is good. Just pulled a boat up the ramp.
  19. Sending PM shortly
  20. We've cleaned it off the last 2 times its snowed
  21. I'm using 8 pound stren original. Brother Dave is using 8 pound p line flouro clear. He is catching more walleye than me but I'm catching more of the bass.
  22. Yes it is. It's been a fun learning process going for just hoping for a chance at one to starting to feel confident in boating at least one.
  23. Had two pretty good days of chasing walleye out of Kdock. Monday we had to shovel snow and ice off the ramp in order to launch. Fishing was slow to start but ended pretty good. It was windy and pretty cold out there. Water temps were 38-39 degrees and pretty clear. My brother and I ended up boating 9 walleye with 4 keepers, 11 bass, 5 crappie and one white on Monday. Tuesday we thought it was going to be windy and wet all day, but to our suprise, it was very nice and not windy at all. Yesteday was our best day yet out there. We boated 10 walleye with 5 of them being keepers. 4 of them were in the 5 pound range. We also caught 6 keeper bass and 4 shorts along with one keeper crappie. Water temps did not get above 39 degrees again. The bite was a little easier to feel on Tuesday with no wind. Buster''s method of fishing stick baits/jerk baits realy slow has definately improved our walleye catch rate.
