  1. Thanks for the feed back guys. Interesting to learn of the tournament. I'm glad you fished the KDock area two old poops. Those reports were real. I am sure that some reports at certain times can be a factor on changes of fishing pressure.
  2. Thanks for the feed back. I did get get called out personally by a few guys on here that new something was up. Im very new to walleye fishing and cracking this nut is tough. I do enjoy sharing what I learn as I go and do feel bad about misleading the masses on here.
  3. Thanks for all the great responses, though they are not justified or earned. You see, this post was a test of sorts. The walleye, crappie and white bass fishing was pretty good on Upper Bull Shoals last week and I made a few reports giving as much detailed information as I could. This report however was a fake. Completely made up with a technique that I did not even know was a way to fish for walleye. The pictures were from a few years ago on the James River and from up on Stockon. I wanted to personally see how much a good report on Friday might influence a spot during the holiday weekend. I also wanted to see if the report would draw many people up towards the Pot Hole. My brother fished Upper Bull Shoals on Saturday and Sunday. I fished up there today. Accourding to my brother, Saturday was a little crowded from K Dock to Beaver Creek. Not much above Swan. Sunday was not as crowded and there might have been 10 trucks at K Dock today. Fishing was slow for my brother Saturday and Sunday, but it was a little better for me today. I did fish with flicker shad behind a 1/2 ounce bottom bouncer today and it caught the most fish. Fish were deeper today and I was able to hit bottom in 23 feet of water trolling at 1.7 mph. I caught my only keeper and a short walleye on that rig today. I would like to know if I enfluenced anyone to fish Upper Bull Shoals this weekend or was there a little more traffic out there due to the nice weather? I obviously did not convince too may people to fish up by the Pot Hole. Any feed back on this would be appreciated.
  4. Now that is impressive
  5. Brown. Cool pattern though
  6. Brother Dave heard about the walleye I've been finding in upper Bull Shoals and came down to get in on the action. We put in at the campground by Swan Creek yesterday afternoon and boated up to the pot hole. Tried dragging #7 flickers shad again but kept getting hung on the bottom. Switched over to number 5's and still had issues with loosing lures so we tried something different. We used bottom bouncers and about 30 inches behind them we drug #5 flickers at a super slow speed. Slow enough to feel a bottom tick every now and then. Average speed was less than .5 mph. We worked the channel swings and drop off from just below the pot hole opposite of the bluff banks and had some magic happen. Ended up with 2 limits of keepers just before dark. Had to get back at it again this morning and the pay off was big. Can't wait to get back out there and try it again! This is the bottom bouncing rig Last nights catch This mornings big pay off
  7. I've been messing around with learning to cast a 12 1/2 foot six weight Spey rod with a 450 grain skagit head. Progress is coming slowly, but progression is happening. I, again this morning went to the upper end to work on my casting. I have been having problems with line twist in the running line after a few cast. I asked Nathan for some advice and tried doing some research on the Internet. Nathan suggested stretching the line and also recommended against the pvc coated running lines, but rather go with mono or amnesia line. The pvc running line came with the skagit heat and tip kit so I thought I would give it a try. One of the few tips I came up with on the Internet was not taking more line off the real than you can cast. The first thing I did this morning was pull all the running line off the reel, stretched it to the point I thought I might break it and then wind it back on the reel. On the waters edge, I started off slow with just the skagit head pulled off the reel. Worked on just casting that for a bit then started pulling more line off the reel a foot at a time and casting that. I finally got out to about 55 feet that I could cast comfortable every time. I had no issues with line twist today and was very happy with that. I did not catch any fish or even get a bite in the 30-45 minutes I was down there today. Catching was not the objective though.
  8. That was me in the green coat
  9. Scott may have had something to do with flicker shad introductions around this time frame I believe
  10. Not offended at all end even understand your concerns.
  11. You sure could. They were in 18-20 fow. Guys I saw last week that pulled in behind me after I went through a school and all rods went down crushed them on an A rig. I imagine a swimming minnow would have worked good too. I would have played with them more but I had other places I wanted to fish today and had to limit my time with them.
  12. 40.2 when I started. 42.7 when I left
  13. Fished in front of the Landing for a bit this afternoon. I was looking for something there. I found some of what I was looking for and I found a few of these too.
  14. Put in at K Dock just as it was getting light. One other boat had put in before me so the ramp was just a little icy. Started trolling the flat right in front of the launch with #7 flicker shad and boated my first short walleye before the sun was shinning. Had high hopes with that but it was kinda slow till I got in a school of whites that were in a feeding frenzy a little after noon. Worked the flats in front of KDock hard till about noon. Picked up 2 keeper crappies there and a 21 inch walleye along with three big whites that I let go. Moved on up above snap and found the feeding frenzy. First pass through and all 3 rods went down at the same time. I would reel one in close, put it back in holder and then grab the next. Ended up boating all three big whites one the first pass. Next pass all three rods bent again. Only boated 2 of them. Called it quits after that.
  15. Nice job guys and thanks for sharing. My Missouri duck hunting is being done vicariously through you guys this year......oh well, back to walleye fishing in the morning and chasing crappie in the afternoon.
  16. Welcome to the forum. I'll be heading back up to alaska about that time frame for the summer. The difference between upper and lower is....lower Bull Shoals is a typical lake while the upper section is more like a large River with moving currents and not near the depth as the lower lake.
  17. Went back out for a few more casts this morning. Temp on truck said 14 and it sure felt like it. Picked up a couple more fish on the 2 hander and on a new color skeem on a fly.
  18. Thanks Marty. I think I'm going to like this.
  19. Finally made the leap into the two hander world on Lake Taneycomo. For Christmas I recieved a 12' 6", 6 weight Clearwater rod and real set up with a 450 grain skagit head. I was finally able to get out yesterday and give it a try. About a month ago, I recieved some casting lessons from fellow forum member westbranch fly and have since watched a few videos on YouTube. Had an hour or so before work so I decided to head to the river and give it a try. Corps were running at least two units, maybe 3. I did not bring waders and headed to the flats between outlet 1 and 2. Fumbled around for a little while just casting the tip and leader without a fly to insure I would not hook myself. After getting comfortable with that, I tied on a pine squirrel sculpin and started to concentrate more on fishing. I was able to throw 45 to 50 feet of line consistently and every now and then got 60 feet of line out there. Now remember, this is all from the bank with no waders and no back casting room. I eventually hooked up with a nice 18-19 inch rainbow marking my first fish ever on a two hander. Heading back out there in a bit to get some more of that before working again today.
  20. Spread looked good. Water looked like glass.
  21. I've been out with Scott before. He's the one leading me in the direction I've been heading. Thanks rps
  22. I am new to this walleye thing. They have always just been a by catch for me while chasing whites and crappie. Trying to figure them out and just trying different things.
  23. Lilleys' Landing carries quite an extisive collection of the flicker shad in #5's and #7's. He is pretty good about stocking up on colors people request also.
  24. I don't think we get a lot of reports from that area of the lake. Fishing from the dock at Lilleys' Landing can be good but every day is different. Power baits in Orange, white, pink, and chartreuse are usually the best colors. Inflated night crawlers work good and trout can even be caught throwing marabou jigs off the dock. I would imagine it would be about the same down in that area.
  25. I saw you out there on Tuesday. I was in the tracker sport jet. We picked up one crappie off that flat but were on our way up to check out another flat further up. We ended up keeping one walleye, 2 big whites and 2 big crappie. Boated 4 or 5 smaller whites and one big carp. Man o man we were excited realing that thing in hopes of a giant walleye. Number 7 flicker shad produced all our fish. Purple fire tiger and Rico flavored. Tried bottom bouncing 3-4 inch creek chubs for 2 hours with only one bite on a swing and a miss.
