  3. Had a good time at the get together today. Weather was good with no generation which made the fishing fantastic. Good to see all the OAFers out there and the food was awesome. I ate way too much.

  5. I would imagine so. I've caught them just below highway F

  7. I though about just putting them in the freezer except for when people come over, then just take them out of the freezer for a short time. When the company is gone, back in the freezer.
  8. But frogs taste just like squirrel....and I love squirrel!
  9. Goose has been marinating 3 days now. Will wrap the poppers up this afernoon. Quick hunt in the morning, then over to the get together.
  10. Got out for a quick hunt on the rock this morning. Last morning of 2011. Good way to take out the year. Two beautiful Drake golden eye came in. Thinking about putting them on the wall.
  11. Thanks Marty. We will probally stop by Summerfresh. Come on by the campground Monday Night and have a beer with us.
  12. The wife and I almost went fishing today after duck hunting this morning but the wind was a blowin real hard so I opted to go through all the duck hunting gear and clean and organize it a bit. Seems we'll be camping up at Schell for the last 2 days of the middle zone season.
  13. Any ideas on where to get some firewood up there. I don't want to be transporting any.
  14. You got it going on Marty. I got the big fat goose egg today. Had 2 mallards swing in early on the Rock but landed 80 yards out. 3 others buzzed by high and kept right on going. That was it. Looks like MonaChari and I are going to hunt Schell on the 2nd, camp that night, then hunt 4 rivers on the 3rd. My brother and his wife will be doing the same. Going to try and help push them birds south on the last 2 days of the middle season.
  15. Ifn I was in the Stlarea I'd be hitting the big muddy below the locks and dams fishing for walleye and sauger this time of year
  16. Might try Bull Creek this time of year if they are generating
  17. Bead head nymphs should work good. Use lots of weight to get them down fast. There is 3 sections of the creek that se public. Easiest one to find is the city park. Lots of parking there. Both the upper wire road access and lower wire road accesses have parking lots. Check MDC's area brochure for directions to them. Mdc website under Atlas section has links to them. Be mindful that those fish are spawning now and stay out of the reds. Good luck to you.
  18. Nice haul Marty.
  19. I picked up a nice hoody a couple of weeks ago. He is going to be taking a trip to the local bird stuffer
  20. Yep. Wont be crowded in the North Zone next week
  21. Welcome
  22. Not much happening on the Rock this morning but I did get goosed
  23. Marty was kind enough to meet up with me at Four Rivers Headquarters after my hunt today to drop off some goose jerky. An awesome act of kindness. Marty, that is some of the best jerky I have ever had. I must beg of you to give up the recipe......please! It was great to see you again, and Thank You for the jerky. MonaChari loves it!
  24. Hunted with a buddy today at Four Rivers and had a great time. We drew the last pill to pick a pool, so we got the left overs. There was no one else hunting in pool 6 so we went chose that one so we would have the opportunity to move around if we wanted. Having never hunted pool 6, we just went in till we found some open water and threw out 18 decoys knowing we would be moving as soon as we found out what the birds wanted. When it got to be shooting time, we found out that we had absolutely no cover and stuck out like sore thumbs. We did manage to get one green head and a snow out of a group of about 2000. We were picking up and moving by 8 a.m. We went to the back of the pool where there was some flooded corn and jumped a couple of hundred mallards. Decided to set up there. We put out 6 dozen duck decoys and 18 goose decoys. The corn was pretty sparse so we put a camo tarp over the boat, layed down in it, and covered ourselves with smaller camo tarps. That was the trick. As soon as we got set up, the ducks were coming in. Ended up getting 2 limits of mallards plus the snow by 1 p.m. Four Rivers is holding 93,000 ducks right now. If you can figure out a way to hide, you can bust some ducks.
  25. All right Don. Its been a while since I've seen you
