  4. Fished Blunk again this evening. Got there just before dark and caught 4 on the fly rod. On the 5th fish....snap and my 4 piece rod was now a 5 piece. Had to switch to spinning gear and as soon as it got dark, the bite was one. Fished till about 11 p.m. and caught several big sows and only 2 dink males. Great bite tonight!
  5. That is really cool! Thanks for sharing this.

    Whites

I've been catching lots of them up the James River from McCord Bend on up to Blunk Hole for over 3 weeks now. Just this weekend did I start catching dink males. Everything else has been large males some decent females and one monster sow over 4 pounds. The bite has been so good on the James that I have only gone to Swan once and still have not made it over to Beaver. Most of the fish have been caught on clouser minnows with the fly rod and some on swimming minnows in smoke, white, and purple with 1/8th oz jig heads. The clousers have been white and grey, white and chartuese, purple and grey, black and grey, and purple and pink combos. I've been thinking it has been a pretty good year so far.
  12. Got to take my nephews, 17 and 11 fishing at the park yesterday. The river was in great shape and the overall size of the fish were good. We all fished with flyrods and did well. The 11 year old, for the first time, caught his limit, with three of them being on the flyrod. The 17 year old did well with 15 fish to hand, and I lost count around 40. The fish bit well on just about everything we threw at them from topwater to articulated streamers. Caddis flies worked great for a while till the wind got too strong. Any kind of bead head in many different sizes caught fish, and streamers worked great first thing in the morning. Took the kids up to Tim's Fly Shop and he gave them the heads up on the best working flies. The boys stocked up on a few and we headed back down for some more action. The boys really injoyed the second half, Tim...Thanks!
  13. Last night was a bust. Threw everything and caught only one fish. Could see and hear them everywhere but could not get a bite. Tonight was a little better. Started fishing around 7:30 and fished till 9:30. Put 7 fish to hand and lost 5 or 6 more. Did the best on white swimming minnows by casting straight across the current and just letting it bounce the bottom all the way down with out realing. The bite would come at the bottom of the swing. Could not get a bite any other way or with anything else. Threw the fly rod for a while and nothing on that either. Hope the incoming weather does not slow it down too much.
  14. Good luck to you. Looking forward to the report.
  15. downstream of Fall Creek you can keep 4 rainbows of any size. I'm not real sure on the rules for browns down there.
  16. 7x and it takes alot of work to get it through the eye.
  17. You can keep 4 rainbows under 12 inches or one rainbow or brown above 20 inches. The Trophy Management Area ends at Fall Creek. There is a big sign there that you cant miss on the North Bank.
  18. I have not been since it got cold, but I imagine they will be back in there this weekend.
  19. Well, welcome to the forum and looking forward to your report. The creek should be in great shape for tomorrow. Good luck and tight lines!
  20. There are no fish in the blue ribbon areas...that is why they have the blue ribbon label...1st place not to fish... jah has led you in the right direction. Maribou jigs work great. Make sure you are using 2 to 4 pound test to increase your chances of a hookup. You might even try drifting smaller jigs under an indicator (bobber).
  21. Always enjoy the videos, Brian.
  22. We see them from time to time and usually they are timid. There were just 2 or 3 of them in the park by Brooks Falls that lost thier fear of people.
  23. We were having some run-ins with wolves in Katmai National Park 2 years ago. The wolves were trying to steal the fish off the fishermans lines. They were pretty aggresive and more intimidating than the bears. I've got a picture of one somewhere and she is only about 15 feet away.
  24. Welcome to the forum.
  25. Ha ha. MC asked her daughter today if she would be interested in going on a float with some guys from the forum. She immeadiatly replied "Yes!" Small pause...."Are there any teenage boys going?" Looks like we will be there. I have a canoe that MC and her daughter will be in. Looks like I will need to hitch a ride on the river with one of ya'll.
