  3. Nice report Cheif. Glad you guys got on some before the front came in.
  4. As the addict (me) tapps the inside of his arm....I might be needing a fix...Might see you over there.
  5. Where you fishing?
  6. My wife, DD'sMC just told me, that when the member of both clubs get together (nymphos and strippers) it's a really good time????
  7. Nymphing is fishing any type of fly that represent the nymph stage of and insect while it is in the water. Stone fly nymphs, dragon fly nymphs, helgramites, even sow bugs and scuds could be included in this. Sub surface fishing, usually on or near the bottom. People will run more than one fly to get a better idea of what the fish want or to get down deeper, faster, without using weight. Sometimes people will run a dropper that is a nymph off a dry fly. They use the dry fly as an indicator. You've read about people having the fish try and take thier indicator....with this method, you can catch the fish that wants to take the indicator.
  8. I will run 1 to 3 flies on this rigg depending on water depth and current. Its all about the weight to get it down fast.
  9. That goes right along with the "Friday Night Strippers Club" that meets down on Taney after dark.
  10. Phil and I fished there last evening. The whites are in Long Camp area right now. The river is up a little and the lake is down, so it was moving pretty good at Blunk. We could see about 1 1/2 foot into the water. Nice color though and the temp was about 53 degrees. Found most of the fish right up next to the bank if the faster water or in about 6 feet of water where it was slower. The crowds are not too bad yet but it should be thick with people and fish this weekend.
  11. When fishing with an indicator, I have heard, the rule of thumb for how far your indicator is from the fly, is 1 1/2 times the depth of the water. Problem with smaller streams and creeks is the depth of water can change quite abit in a small run. I also dont like to indicator fish on smaller creeks because you will miss many of the bites due to the time it takes for the slack get out of the line and move the indicator when a fish strikes. This is very evident when site fishing with an indicator. Many, many times I have seen the fish take the fly and attempt to spit it (what I call chewing it)and the indicator never even moved. With polish nymphing techniques, you keep your line fairly , let's say, "tight" with the fly while leading it down stream with the rod. You will feel every take instantly. I rarely nymph fish in slower moving water, and this polish nymphing style really works well in faster moving water.
  12. No stopping you now! Glad your gettin em!
  13. I do that quite often
  14. Awesome day of fishing! Everyone needs a day like that once in a while.
  15. The stretch between Blunk Hole and Walnut Springs is where we caught fish on both banks. The water is moving pretty fast there and the fish are holding tight to the banks behind the small eddies created by root wads and trees. The best place to put in would be at Long Camp (the end of Samaritan Road) It is the 3rd Rd. on the left after Blunk Rd. and the very next road on the left after McCord Bend Road. Most of the fish were caught right across from the boat ramp there and just a little up stream to just below the large gravel bar. This weekend should be great with the water still clearing and dropping. It is easier to go up from this area to Walnut Springs and above than to launch at Blunk and go down right now. If the water drops some more, you would need a jet to launch at Blunk for sure. As far as river to lake.....I would say, when the water stops moving, you are in the lake. I wonder what the elevation of Blunk access is vs. the lake level of Table Rock?
  16. See Crane report 3/11 for help on flies and techniques. Upper wire is good if there is enough water. When water is low, I like the lower wire access. Go ahead and try some Larger tippet. Size 4 and 5x.
  17. Good report John. Should be a great weekend for the Sow Bug.
  18. Welcome to the forum. Good luck fishing and looking forward to the report.
  19. 25 is one unit at about 1/2 power. Lots of places to wade fish with up to one full unit running. You might want to try and go to the south side to park and fish below the island right across from outlet #2. Another good spot that is wadable with one unit is down by the Big Hole on the North side. Below the boat ramp on the North side also with one unit running.
  20. Welcome to the forum
  21. Good looking fish! Keep posting reports on how you do over there.
  22. Welcome to the forum and hey, I'd be happy to pay for some gas to have people show me their fishing holes.
  23. Nice job Don! Thanks for the report. Did you get any more good images on the graph?
  24. You might get into some this weekend. I personally think the water temps are not quite right for the big push yet. They should be still staging right now. I just strip like fishing for whites. If I feel some tension on the line, I will do a hard strip set. I do not yank the rod to get the hook set because that will break the fly rod.
