  1. Gonna come down and fish the NOFW for the first time tommorow (Tuesday) hopefully I can do just as well...
  2. Kevin- there are a plenty of MDC properties to hunt on around here. During bow season, I'll go for the first one I see, but I'm gunning for a buck during rifle season. This will be my first year for muzzleloader season, since I got a traditions .50 cal. hawken last year, so i'm not really sure what i'll take first.
  3. Brady Jones with a Rainbow caught on a PMS jig at outlet 1 on 09/19/2008.
  4. I''d say this is a little dated... tempratures in the 30's, chance of snow and freezing?
  5. But that's a sea-run brown, you'd think that they'd grow much faster than landlocked trout.
  6. 16, I believe. Not too sure about the trout stamp though, It may be different.
  7. Says I'm a trout bum... tell me something I don't already know!
  8. When Palin made her speech last night, there was such a long pause for applause that the teleprompter actually kept going. By the time she was able to speak again, the teleprompter was so far ahead that she had to keep going by memory, only having to glance at her notes on a few occaisions. Despite the fact that the entire speech was not her writing, she did not skip a beat and made the performance hers. I doubt too many people with "questionable experience" could pull that off. Very professional, and speaks volumes about her resilience and nerve.

Lets hope that FEMA and George Jr. can get things fixed right this time, should the worst happen.
  10. I don't think anyone here is interested in listening to anybody's sales pitch. This is a forum designed for us to share knowledge and improve fishing skills, not some place to sell high tech and probably overpriced gadgets that take the place of actual skill and simplicity that the rest of us actually take pride in.
  11. Never had any of the gamakatsus break on the vice, but that may just be me, I just like them because they seem to be sharper than any of the other brands I bought. Mustad seems about as sharp as the Gama's, but i usually just stick to the gama's. I've never bought any in the smaller sizes, but I usually switch from brand to brand everytime I go in to buy hooks. I don't really have any one real preference but maybe thats because ive never had any real big problems with any particular brand.
  12. Didn't go last night, but the hopper action didn't stop when the sun came out. I got down at about 8 this morning, and the water was still down. I can't remember when they turned it back on, but I got to fish from rebar all the way down to the boat ramp. I caught all of my fish on the hopper until the water went back up, and then stayed to try and fish the outlets with scuds for a couple hours, but gave that up after awhile and went back to the hopper. I consistently caught fish on the hopper out in the calm water in front of one, until I left at four.
  13. I've got a little bit of everything, and its kinda hard to tell what I've got from each brand because I keep them in one of those hook boxes, so they're all mixed together by size and style, not by who makes them. However, when I tie streamers, I almost go with gamakatsu exclusively.
  14. I had the chance to go down on sunday, and again on tuesday, both days being pretty good on hares ears and squirrel tail nymphs. On sunday I fished a hopper above my nymph as an indicator, and had just as much luck on either one. Didn't catch anything spectacular, but had lots of good average fish as well as one that felt real good but broke off. When I went down on tuesday, the snake guy pulled in the lot the same time I did.
  15. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  16. That is what everyone else uses, except when fishing at night, then I move up to an 8 weight
  17. I actually brought it in today and he got it switched for me, It's actually a lot easier to do than the directions make you believe. all you have to do is take off the spool, unscrew the center cylinder and then flip th bearing thing thats inside the cylinder over. Thanks Michael
  18. I just bought one from BCO along with a sage fli in the 9' 5 weight size. I took it to crane on sunday for it's trial run, and it performed flawlessly. Now i just have to figure out how to adust the retrieve direction, with me being a lefty, I don't like having to switch hands when playing fish. The directions on how to do this were a little vague, but other than that, I didn't have any problems.
  19. Look in the Taneycomo articles at the top of the Upper lake subforum.
  20. It's funny how our idea of "normal" has changed over the last few months...
  21. Forget the Rebar hole, try the Chevy hole!
  22. Try listening to Cross Canadian Ragweed, Shooter Jennings, the Randy Rogers band and Robert Earl Keen.
  23. This being my first time voting, I really wish I had better canditdates to choose from.... I too would have Huckabee on the ticket, there's a good chance I may write in Huckabee as well.
  24. I live in springfield, and will too be attending college here this year. Crane and taney are great, but they're more like 45 minutes away. As far as smallmouth streams, the james and finley as well as the big and little sac rivers. Fellows and McDaniels lakes are just north of springfield. I don't know where you guys are from, but if either of you needs someone to show you the local spots, just shoot me a PM.
  25. I'm not very familiar with that particular section since i don't have a boat, but I doubt that the drop will effect that section to where boating will be too difficult. While you're on taney, I'd reccomend checking out the dam section, with the water being down, the wade fishing could turn out to be a lot of fun
