  1. I 've caught quite a few fishing the various gravel points between Kimberling City bridge and the Dam. Drag a spider jig around on the bottom and you'll catch a few fish. I've caught them from 6 ft to 40 ft depending on the time of year.
  2. Sounds like a great hunt Phil.
  3. Just curious to see if we have anyone on the forum that had luck w/ Teal or doves the last few weeks? I got out for a couple of hours Tuesday morning teal hunting. It was slow. Not many birds flying. I managed to scratch 2 birds. It was a great to watch the sunrise over the marsh again to start another hunting season.
  4. Teal are a small gray duck that could look somewhat like a hen mallard from a distance. In flight, the blue wing teal have a distinct blue wing patch that is very visible from a distance.
  5. phil, I think that is the Missouri (or Montauk) trout fishing Assosiation. There were post on this tournement earlier this year. I wasn't there, just remember the earlier post.
  6. count me in. I'll tie a simple scud pattern.
  7. Will do. I'll be out of town till Wednesday and if time permits. I will be there. Hope to meet up.
  8. Gavin, Thanks for the update. I just sent a email to the park manager regarding the SMB fishing and will make an effort to attend the session at the viking on 9-22. "Smallmouth bass management. This river is an great SMB river in the middle to lower sections of the park. The State has a SMB management plan for many other rivers of the state, but not our national jewel. Why? This river sustains a huge amount of recreational use and still maintains a decent SMB fishery. But it could be much better if the proper regulations were in effect. I would like to see the MDC and the NPS in a partnership to create a trophy SMB management area on a large portion of the ONSR. Maybe from Round springs to the lower end of the park. Please be open to this idea and think of the positives both recreationally and economicly to the region if this park was nationally recognized as a trophy SMB stream. Promoting catch and release only areas or a strict slot limit (11" - 22") would allow the fish the chance to really get large. I remember a trip with my father in the early 1970's catching a 25", 22" and an 19" SMB from one hole of water. Since then, the size of the fish has plunged to a good day being several 12" - 13" fish with an occasional 15" or 16" fish. It's been several years since I caught an 18" fish and haven't caught a 20" fish since that day in the early 1970's. I'm sure the river will produce large fish if given a chance to grow.
  9. Nice report. It sounds like you had a great day w/ your son. I have heard good things about the Niangua, but never have taken the time to explore that river. Maybe someday. Thanks for the report.
  10. Thanks for the post Bill, I always enjoy them.
  11. There are quite a few boats launch at Rocky Creek. This can be accessed by NN. I launch at Logyard and motor up to above rocky on most trips. Lots of Jet boats on the weekends. Now that labor day is over. This will minimize quite a bit. If your floating and launching at powdermill, the float to log yard is easy. Only about 7 miles. Good luck.
  12. I've never heard of Roberts Field. But I know there is a lot of campers at the end of NN. This is near the mouth of Rocky Creek. Powdermill to Van Bueran would be an easy 2 day float or two rivers to Van Bueran would be achevable as well, it would be long. Lots of jet boats in the area so be prepared. 2 rivers to powdermill would be a fairly easy one day float and 2 rivers to Log yard could be done in a day. It would be a very easy 2 day float. If I was to do a 2 day float, I would absolutely camp out on the river. There are lots of gravel bars available to camp on. I haven't been on the river since the 4th of july weekend, but would think that the fishing would be about the same. soft plastics fished in deep water w/ structure and flow is were the fish will be found.
  13. Wow, those wer great photos.
  14. What part of the river were you on? I assume below the east fork. Are there any place on the river that receive less pressure from the party flotilla?
  15. Dutch, Are you still in the boat? Or was this just a bash and run.
  16. Looks like a great trip. Thanks for the photos.
  17. I would call Tony Albright at the Pontiac Lodge. Try to google.
  18. Your hair is not a problem.... Just wear a hat.
  19. Lucky Dog. I must participate in that nasty four letter word....."WORK" Oh to be independently wealthy.....I must dream.
  20. Tablerock got quite a few good post this spring. Several guides were frequently posting. Of course, they were catching fish then. I suspect the dog days of summer has limited the better fishing experiances. The fish are too deep, and the days are too hot to fish. We need a few particiapants from LOZ. It's like pulling teeth to get info or fishing reports for LOZ.
  21. It's a quiet day on the forum. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend fishing and there will be many good reports to read soon.
  22. I see three happy girls and an extremely happy and proud father. Good Job.
  23. Knock your self out Dutch. The beauty of the site is that the discussion is determined by the participants. I like the format. It is specific to waters of the region, therefore of interest to the folks using the waters of the region unlike other formats that are more general in nature and the discussion is about waters that I am not likely to fish. Phil and many of the regular participants happen to reside and regularly fish waters of SW Missouri, Taneycomo in particular. Therefore, this is the most discussed topic. Start regularly posting on Bass fishing and draw more into this area of discussion.
  24. Thanks for the report Ted.
  25. Michael, It sounds like a lot of things were working for you last night, but you never mentioned size. What size baits were you fishing. Thanks.
