  1. I was there Tuesday as well. Saw you out there and assumed you were doing well. It was an impressive hatch! I caught a dozen or so on a soft hackle sulphur emerger, but no giant tigers. Nice fish!
  2. I can’t seem to figure out how to PM on this forum any more, but I fish the Current quite a bit and I am always on the lookout for places to stay. Please send me some details. Thanks.
  3. I once caught a rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat, golden-rainbow in one day. Doubt I will ever top that.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I’m an older trout guy. But, I enjoyed smallmouth fishing in my youth. I was just hoping to find some close by areas. They are such great fish.
  5. I am looking to wade and fly fish for smallmouth. Is Paydown access a good place to do that? Please, if anyone can provide any advice for access to river smallmouth wade fishing I would be so very grateful.
  6. A tribute to these great efforts. Thanks for all you do AGFC, TU, and all the volunteers!
  7. I'm taking a friend from out of state down to the Current in mid October. I would appreciate any advice on flies. Terrestrials? Streamers? Egg flies? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
  8. It is a rainbow. That's very obvious. But it is a very nice trout.
  9. Are caddis still coming off on the White?
  10. Sent you a PM
  11. It is this one: https://www.cabelas.com/product/fishpond-Gore-Range-Vest/711771.uts?productVariantId=4030396&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04044683&rid=20&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjqSD3-DT2QIVA0SGCh3BuwLsEAQYASABEgJzffD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  12. Fishpond vest for sale. It is a year old and was used only about 10 days. It is in very good shape and retails for $130-150. I will take $50 for it.
  13. Thanks for the reports! Very helpful. I love fishing beetles!
  14. I am thinking of fishing it later this week. Would appreciate any reports on the forum or pm.
  15. Just tried to go to Charlie's Resort website and it doesn't work, nor does the phone number. Did it close?
  16. Thanks so much everyone. Maybe I will just stick with my canoe...
  17. Well FW I still smoke about a pack a day, enjoy my bourbon, and I will keep the screwing part to myself. I still fish my butt off and don't mind hiking up and down a river to get away from the crowds and enjoy some less bothered fish. But I did some damage to my back as a kid and it goes out every now and then. I'd rather not have one of those times be when I need to get that canoe back up onto my 4runner. So I thought I would get all modern and look into a kayak.
  18. Never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Turner, but I have followed his work for decades. I remember when I took a job in MO back in 1988, I looked in the back of Fly Fisherman Magazine as they used to have state reports. I knew nothing about what MO had to offer, but I saw the reports by him on the trout fishing opportunities here, most notably the Current River, which I first fished in 1989 and went on to become my home stream. Missouri owes Mr. Turner a great deal for his legacy advocating for the development of the blue ribbon streams for trout and the conservation of smallmouth.
  19. I have never owned a kayak, but I want to purchase one. My canoe is getting too heavy for me too mount on my vehicle and I am tired of trying to control it on the water. I will mostly use the kayak on ponds and small lakes, maybe to get around on relatively tame rivers as well. I would greatly appreciate some advice on reasonably priced, light weight fishing kayaks. There are so many options and features I am overwhelmed! I am in my mid 50s but still in good shape and I weigh about 150. Please offer me some helpful guidance. Thank you in advance.

  21. Does anyone know why they are running water continuously on the NF? They don't usually do that.
  22. Are the caddis coming off? Heading down this weekend and would appreciate any reports.
  23. Great report John, thanks. I was down there Monday and Tuesday this week. I fished below Baptist Monday, lots of changes to the river after the December flood. Only got one fish but it was a nice 17" brown. Monday I did better above Tan Vat and caught 8 or 9 nice rainbows. Caddis larva did the trick that day.
  24. Hey Grizzly, thanks a lot. Sounds like we are kindred spirits. I do fish some red zebras as well. Don't get nearly as many as on black. I am a presentation guy too. I focus on depthand drift and usually fish 6x flouro. So I guess I won't over complicate my color selection.
