  1. I was up there about 12:30 today and was lots of the PQs. They were in a display type bin that was all but full in between the reel counter and the fly shop, looked like grat ratios were all mixed in...KVD was walking around too setting up I guess
  2. I currently use a 7 footer also mainly because like a few have mentioned I am also a to the side jerker so won't be a change for me at all...decisions decisions...would've never paid full retail for it but the price I got it at was appealing. When I finally get the chance to get out with it I'll report back if anyone is curious. Unfortunately will still probably be a few weeks for me. Best of luck to all who make it out on this beautiful weekend!
  3. Appreciate it everyone, boat does ride high, usually in a triton ski fish but thinking I should probably just take it back and go with something that's a bit more tried and true instead on gambling on something new. If anybody wants it it will most likely find its way back to the basspro outlet tomorrow. Was $90, retail $200. Thanks for all of the input and constant great entertainment and helpful insight on this forum.
  4. Thanks Champ, I might just have to toy around with it a bit and see how it feels....hopefully sooner than later.
  5. Hi guys n gals, was looking for a new jerkbait Rod and came on what seemed to be pretty decent deal on a Cashion...just can't find a ton out about them online except for pricing and specs. Seems like it'll do the job, 7ft med w/ fast tip. Just curious if anyone has any knowledge on them or used them by chance if I should hang onto it or dump it? Thanks in advance!
  6. Just an FYI for the folks around springfield, I just called both locations here and they are all out of them. Thanks for the heads up though...good price
  7. On the water patrol portion of the above reply, we too were at Baxter all weekend and never saw a one, we asked the marina about it and they told us they were actually out on several unmarked wave runners hitting the coves. I haven't heard of this before but just passing on what we were told
  8. My grandpa has been doing pretty good every weekend for past several weeks right at joe bald on flatheads and channels, live bluegill. Crazy story though, this past weekend had 2 channels around 6 lbs, a flathead around 1.5 lbs and another 20+ pounder. Both the flatheads swallowed the hook so he just threw them all in his cage with the speed clips still attached on the two flats. Went to clean them Sunday morning but only 3 cats in cage and the big guy had two lines now sticking out of his mouth. While cleaning he realized the crazy thing had eaten the smaller flathead and was already mostly digested. Never heard anything like it especially in a holding cage for only a day.....
  9. We are in the Baxter area and have caught 4 rainbows over the past 10 years or so off the dock fishing for whites with minnows or shad under lights, all within a few weeks either side of right now
  10. Fished mainly little Indian to big bay, lots of males everywhere on beds but never saw any females. Was tougher for us Friday than Saturday, Friday had about 25 fish but only two keeps, Saturday had close to 40 with six keeps nothing over 2.5 though. Threw a little of everything but by far best luck on split shot French fry watermelon red on gravel/chunk points leading into spawning pockets. Most fish were in the 10-15 foot range with boat in 20. Keepers were all out on the deeper stuff and all shorts up shallower than that for us. mixed bags both days of all three species. Not a great report but hopefully helps someone.
  11. I was on earlier and the site was down for a bit moving to a new server around the 2-2:30 range and noticed the same. Maybe lost in transition?
  12. PM sent RE: waders. Thanks.
  13. Was down there yesterday from 3-8pm, they are there but pretty slow. We were up above Taylor's a ways with the fly rods, had 25-30 between the two of us, one limit of decent keepers, not a single sow...lots of little bitty 4-5 inch males.
  14. Lots of short fish Friday on a square bill in the backs of the creeks where the water was stained a little but only one keeper. Think we had 24 fish from about 7-3:30 but only two keepers, other keeper and rest of the shorts came on the jerkbait main lake bluff ends. Saturday had 28 fish with 8 keepers, nothing over three pounds either day, was in a tourney Saturday. Had six keepers before 9:00 on a smoke grub in the areas we fished the square bill but the water had already cleared...right place right time with shad all over the cove and lots of schooling fish. 50/50 split between jerkbait fish and the grub, other two keeps were on the jerker and a wart. 87 boats in the derby, big bass 7.3 and winning weight was under 15 lbs.
  15. That makes perfect sense since I'm always checking in on the cell. Thanks for the help.
