  1. - So let's hear how yah did Hector. :-) - I hope to sneak down for a day later in the week,........maybe..........so I'll post what we find..............stay tuned.................
  2. - Well next time you chat with him, or if he reads this.......... tell him; "be braggadocious, BE BRAGGADOCIOUS!" That's exciting stuff, I'd like to hear whatever he's willing to post about.
  3. Whoah! Nice Sack. Hopefully we'll hear a little about how they made it happen?
  4. Phil can move this if it's not appropriate to post here. I have no interest or affiliation in Cabelas. This was just a good buy, I thought I'd share with some OAF members! - My buddy gave me a heads up on these digital Minn Kota water temp sensors on clearance at Cabelas for under $2! I picked up a few and they're pretty handy. A great way to double check your fish finder readings. - I know there's the occasional skepticism about the accuracy of the water temps people report. This would be a good backup. - I bought a few extra and marked the cord of one, with markings every foot. And attched a small weight to check temp readings below surface level. (just out of curiosity:-) Just hang it over the side and wait a few seconds for a reading. - My only concern though, is the instructions advise to keep the display out of direct sunlight and rain. That may be tricky mounting the display in a boat. But heck, for under 2 bones........... - Remember too, if you live near a Cabelas, they have Free Ship-to-Store. - http://www.cabelas.com/product/Minn-Kota174-Water-Temperature-Sensor/733944.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dminn%2Bkota%2Bwater%2Btemp%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=minn+kota+water+temp&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  5. - That's my guess, Rock Bass/Goggle Eye. They can be a real nuisance when fishing for other species.
  6. - Yah, glad to see you over here Tim. ;-) That double take looks pretty sweet, but no Table Rock Shad!?!!?!? I would think you of all people could make a great argument for that color in the lineup. - Oh well, gives me reason to fire the airbrush up again this weekend.
  7. -Very nice steve. Sounds like things are heading the right direction. Any idea what kinda water temps they were seeing?
  8. - I just hadn't been seeing the reports like when the action really gets moving. - My boss likes to crappie fish, but he's a catcherman, not a fisherman (see: 'high maintenance'), so I'd like to get down when things are really hoppin'. - Keep that info a comin'! Thanks.
  9. holy Cow guys, thanks for the info. Sorry it took a bit to reply, I didn't get the e-mail message there were replies! (DOH!) - Sounds things are definitely picking up. And not a moment too soon, I'm tired of this cold weather! GGGGggggrrrrr.......
  10. I've got cabin fever, and was itching to see if there's any Crappie action yet? I tend to haunt the Glaize Arm, so if anyone's had any luck around there; speak up! - We've got plenty of great spots around there, so I don't need specifics; I would just prefer not to waste a day off heading down, if things aren't turnin' on yet. - Or if you want to brag and be specific, you can be real stealthy, and shoot me a PM. - (There's rumblings of a crappie bite on Table Rock is why I ask. LOZ is just twice as close for me) - Dont be shy! Speak up.
  11. Great read Dave, thanks for the info (and replying to my rat/wakebait issue over on TU) , I really look forward to the next update. - I shot you an IM to keep this thread on topic. Just had a couple other questions for yah.
  12. - SS, I was thinking the same thing about the Flip Clip. It sure looks like something that could easily be made. Gla to hear you had some good results with them. - For the average angler, I think fizzing a fish would be very foreign to most; if not intimidating. I think anyone fishing deep water should be familiar (myself included), but I've always had a heckuva time the few times I've tried fizzing. I was always afraid I'd do more harm than good. Any sort of simple alternative for the lay-person, that reduces fish mortality sounds good to me!
  13. Anyone ever try the Flip Clips? - http://www.flipclipfishing.com/ - I have no 'dog-in-the-hunt' with this company, just an interestingly simple concept. I bought some, but haven't caught deep fish, needing fizzing since having them. I've read a lot of positive things on other message boards. From what appear to be unbiased members. - Anything less invasive (and simpler)than fizzing, seems the way to go. - I think I've posted this before here; but no one offered any feedback.
  14. I'm with James. Those are great colors. But, I also like French Pearl and Elegy Bone.
  15. - I thought someone posted a link of a scuba diving site a while back, that had GPS coordinates for cool stuff on TR? I'll try and look for it when I have a spare minute from work.
  16. Very nice work! I'm doing the same, airbrushing cranks/swimbaits. Off to a slow start, as we're under the weather a bit at our house; but it's a GREAT way to pass the winter. I highly recommend it to any angler. - I'll have to admit, for years I was hesitant even touching an airbrush, as I didn't know the first thing about them, and I have NO artistic talent. But, after just a few hours of trial-and-error, I was addicted and making good progress. Heck, I started out just diluting the craft paint in those little bottles from Ya'll-Mart. Nothing fancy needed. These airbrush companies need to market their products better.
  17. Nice report Champ! You're a brave soul fighting those winds. That wind can zap the morale from the boat VERY quickly. Especially if I have to nose the boat to the wind, and cast to the shore behind me........GGGGGgggrrrr...........
  18. Very cool pic Martin! - And Sam, see if you can find those old pix of yours, that kinda stuff is always great to see. - These might be old pix to some, but I still they're pretty cool! - And I have no affiliation to the site; just some neat pix. - http://sueandersenrealty.com/flood2008/index_files/page0006.htm - http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~earlyyrs/schwyhart/kimberlingcitybridges.html - a bit off topic, but neat pix of the flood of 08 - - (sorry, I had trouble posting the actual pix)
  19. Man, that thing sounds VERY cool. Just the curiosity of wondering what's right under the dock or on the bottom around the docks; always pecks at me? - It's interesting that the fish are not bothered by the camera. I thought they would be, but the more I think about it; that makes sense. Because as a kid, we would swim underwater with masks on, and be able to swim right up on fish; and they would not spook. But, when they saw us up on shore/dock/the surface..........POOF! They were gone.
  20. - Yah, it's a little tricky/cumbersome at first. But, it got to be 2nd nature to me after a bit. It really made cleanup/color change SO much more efficient, that painting with the gun upside-down; outweighed any awkwardness!
  21. Hogfan, - I meant to jump into this thread earlier, But, I did what you did, and started out on the inexpensive side, before spending a bunch of money on a hobby I wasn't sure I would enjoy. - Since I'm addicted, I then stepped up to nicer equipment. - That wart looks GREAT! You're well on your way. Airbrushing baits is an excellent way to pass the winter. - Not sure which Harbor Freight brush you got? But, if it's the double action one, siphon feed. I actually started painting upside down with it, and not using the cups that came with it. I would just put in a few drips of color I need for each bait, and it makes cleaning between colors/switching colors much easier!
  22. - Hopefully that'll be in the next few weeks?
  23. - That's kinda what I thought. But, I guess it really depends on what someone is looking for. You can pay a bit more for some really exotic color scheme/patterns, which may not be necessary. OR you can have simpler paint schemes/colors done at a better price. - To each his own.
  24. I updated oscars correct website in my post above. Again, I don't have a dog in this hunt, just some cool work worth taking a peek at!
  25. Here's some info I posted in a prior thread on the topic. Not sure how accurate any of it is anymore? =============================================================== - I found this on Eric Prey's 7/24 outdoors page. (He's here on OAF as 'focused fishing' too) - Fall Creek Custom Lures Olive St. Republic , Missouri 65610 Phone 417-732-6978 - I have no affiliation with these guys, I've just marveled at their work. Be sure to check out their 'Galleries' or 'Colors' on their pages. Impressive stuff! - -(in AR) http://www.baitwerks.com/index.html -(in Steelville, MO) http://www.oscarbassbaits.com/
