  1. Didn't think of that. You very well may be right.
  2. Was at Bass Pro getting our annual pic with Santa and the kids and noticed they had some Daiwa reels at the reel counter. Spoke to the guy behind the counter and BPS is carrying Daiwa again after a 1 year pissing match. Not sure who broke down and bit the bullet on the negotiations but either way they're back. I realize this is not Earth shattering news but to a tackle dork I figured it was worth mentioning.
  3. I always think vertical video game fishing when I think drop shot. I shouldn't but I do. I've watched countless A-Mart video on YouTube and like you said he is casting it and working it back to the boat quite often. Probably the best in the world with the drop shot so should follow his lead.
  4. That's cheating Bo!
  5. I used to throw a lot of the P-Line Fluroclear until I picked up some of the Yozuri Hybrid which I just liked better. Yozuri just came out with their own Fluoro called Topknot which is very wallet friendly and I picked up a 10lb spool to try. Diameters are on par with the Seaguar InvizX. Haven't spooled it up yet but I am thinking it will be very good line as Yozuri typically makes pretty decent stuff.
  6. The ESPN 30 for 30 "I Hate Christian Laettner" was a great little piece.
  7. Apparently that is the Duke way these days. Good to see you back Dave Grayson Allen.
  8. I use 10lb Seaguar InvizX fluoro myself. Never have tried the braid to leader deal. I think most guys use 8 or 10lb mono. As for keeping fish buttoned up I think that has more to do with the rod than the line you are using. You want a moderate action rod with a softer tip just like you would any other rod where you are throwing trebled baits. The softer tip also allows the rod to load and really launch the bait out there which is what you want. Long casts = Longer time in the strike zone = Covering more water efficiently.
  9. The grub gets an honorable mention and just missed the top 2 cut.
  10. Just 2 that's tough. Probably a jig and a spinnerbait. Two most versatile baits that you can basically fish a number of ways and at any depth.
  11. If I did that then it would kill both my excuses...when I suck at golf..."I should be fishing".....when I suck at fishing....." I should be golfing".
  12. Sore thumbs gave good info there. I prefer a faster reel than a 5:1 ratio just because I want to take up slack faster. I think I use a 6 something to 1 Lews. Also, just like anything else, I think we as fisherman sometimes over complicate things. Nose up, nose down...I don't think it matters as long as it looks like a dying shad. I just want it stay in the strike zone and in their face as long as possible. I prefer my jerks to perfectly suspend (easier said than done) or sink just ever so slowly. If they rise a little that's not the end of the world. If it's too fast of a float, like Sore Thumbs said, just add some weight to it (suspend dots/strips, extra rings or lead wire around the hook shank). I throw jerkbaits about 90% of the time where I know there are tree tops present. Either visible or just below the surface from 1-15 feet or so under. Jerkbaits for whatever reason seem to be the most expensive of all cranks and nobody wants to lose $10-25 bucks in a tree. That is why I think it is essential to have a lure retriever. It will make you basically fearless to throw in and around tree tops which is where these fish like to hang of course. I really treat them no different than throwing topwater around timber.
  13. Trust me....this train of thought enters my mind nearly every round. I usually quit golf about 15 times per year.
  14. Ditto. I've never had a devoted cold/wind/rain suit but had been looking around the last few weeks at different options at different price points. Tons of good info here to mull over and make a decision. Would you expect any less from OAF members though? Just great info. Thanks much everyone.
  15. Yes. My buddies (90-110 MPH swing speeds) and I have been talking about these balls for months and nobody has been able to get their hands on any. But if you look at the Forbes article posted previously you will see that the spin rate off the driver is less (better and longer) than the ProV1 (Gold Standard in golf). The iron shot spin rates are the same or higher than the Pro V which should equate to better control around the greens (I am not that good and just want to HIT THE GREEN much less shape a shot). Have read quite a bit of reviews from avid golfers and these things are the real deal apparently. Good luck finding any though. Callaway is making some great balls these days. Have a few buddies that are low handicapers that love the Project A and also the Chrome Soft.
  16. Just wait til basketball season. Can I use that line? Or is that exclusive to KU guys only? LOL.
  17. Great info there Vernon. That being said you are a Jayhawker and I can not, in good faith, fully trust anything you say.
  18. Can't expect much from Quill. Guy is still using AOL for crying out loud. Quill starting his car this morning:
  19. Great video! Loved the ending...lol. Babe Alert!
  20. Instead of going out to dinner and spending some coin....make her a nice dinner at home for 1/3 the cost. Save that $ to put toward the upgraded reel and you make her feel special. Will be hard for her to say no!
  21. With that thinking the Procyon is only $20 more than your President Limited.........
  22. They always say that it's the kiss of death catching a fish on your first cast (or thereabouts). There is a little truth to it as, like you allude to, it will make you stick with a bait longer since you had success on the first crack.
  23. If I were him I would crank out at least one more ultra fast to sell to the OTHER losing bidder on Ebay that was willing to go $1,650.00 for it.
  24. I'd narrow that down to just 2 then. The President or the Exceller. Exceller for me.
  25. I figured it was just since he is a night owl the late fall and into winter does't set up well for night guys (unless you want to freeze your butt off). During the day figured he was busy with his jig business. One would think business picks up around the "off season" and Holidays where guys like me stock up on gear and stalk Tackle Warehouse. Hope all is well with Bo and hope he is not deterred from posting his outings,
