  1. You are assuming that the fish moved from one spot to another. That the fish you caught were seeking shelter from the middle of the river. Maybe the fish on the bank were always near the bank, and the fish in the middle of the river just didn't want to hit what you were throwing. Far fetched I realize. We have a narrative in our heads, it fits conveniently often to our experiences. Catching fish is always good, regardless.
  2. Want things to change, do ya? That can-do spirit and up with people malarky not getting things done? Pious do gooders always coming back with bad news? Well, then I have news for you brethren. WAKE THE F*** UP! Smallmouth bass regulations are no different than any other legislation that are up for grabs in our state government. And make no mistake, they are UP FOR GRABS. 1. We need to have a prominent legislator that can get things done in our back pocket. Whether it comes through bribes or blackmail or sexual favors or drugs is immaterial. 2. We need to show him(and it is a HIM) how beneficial that championing our cause helps him ascend in Missouri politics. 3. We will hold his hand through this process and make sure our leverage will stay private, yet give him no choice but to press our agenda. 4. Power and influence comes through money and information,. One must be ruthless in order to achieve goals. 5. Politicians do nothing out of goodwill. We must take advantage of this fact. Ha ha just kidding. Keep writing your congressman citizens! Make your voice heard! Surely, with your effort and zeal, change will surely come!
  3. A hydrologist will tell you that the current flow you see on the surface isn't the same at the bottom. If it was, all our fish would be in the Gulf of Mexico. They get to their safe spot and wait. Just like us. Look at Joplin. Look at all our smallie streams. Fish are still there.
  4. I didn't know there would be math....and when will the trains meet? Sammys catch fish by the way. You and others should know. The bobbing, half in, half out is the whole point. Then one retrieves. Someone tell me when Sammys suddenly became chopped liver. How many imitations it has spawned. The curved underbelly and jawline? Whatever, I'm looking for bait hooks so I can keep a big bass on my stringer.
  5. Hilarious. Now, if only MARCO SCUTARO fished! "MARCO SCUTARO just CASTED and caught a smallmouth BASS! In a related note, Steve Carlton had the STRONGEST wrists I EVER SAW! He used to shove his hands in a bucket of RICE...!"
  6. Smallmouth lives matter.
  7. Doesn't 15/1 mean anything over !5? Meaning, not for a meal's sake, but a trophy for some. So, anyone who catches an 18 incher or a 20 incher can walk out with it? How would that help? How would you like to see people carrying those size fish, legally, when you arrive at a stream? How would taking big fish consistently out of streams where it is known that their size is relatively rare. help overall fishing? And really, what is the frigging point of possessing ONE FISH?! Good grief, its 2015. It's not salmon fishing on the Great Lakes. Nevermind, I guess I'll have to dig out my metal fish stringer.
  8. 1. It is easier to walk the dog in one vessel as opposed to the other. 2. Sitting high in a seat or standing up gives one more leverage (for lack of a better term) and one is able to keep the rod down and work the lure with less body stress. 3. Sitting low in a canoe with someone in front of you, presents more difficult casting and lure retrieve problems. Kayaks, the same. 4. Counterintuitively, it is easier to walk a bigger lure than a smaller one. One has to make more wrist and rod movements with a smaller lure, where a bigger lures have a bigger reaction per rod twitch. 5. But, one can throw a smaller lure a longer period of time with less fatigue than a bigger lure. 6. I sound like Tim McCarver now, describing the obvious in a baseball game. 7. Anyway, pick up your canines poop after walking.
  9. Love the pics. Congratulations also. Your fiancee is way better looking than you. Or the delicious beer you're drinking. Not to be creep or anything.
  10. I wonder if Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was involved? Gosh we're getting old.
  11. G********! I thought I had that "persona" covered. Hmmm. Rethinking now. Still, cheap, old lures are cheap old lures for a reason. Sometimes newer IS better, like it or not.
  12. Wrench- You are being difficult and a little fiesty. (sounds like me actually). You know what I mean.
  13. Smalliebigs, sorry, no good deed goes unpunished.
  14. I just don't understand this need to be a lure martyr about spending a few extra dollars when you're going to the river in $40.000 truck and boat.
  15. There is no need to spend money on air conditioning either. We've certainly survived without it. Sure is nice though. One cannot have a home and a vehicle and a boat or canoe or kayak and time to fish and take trips, then moralize and rationalize about spending chump change on baits. Makes no sense. Look how much money one spends on fishing, then, one blanches at spending $15 dollars on a lure that might actually help catch fish? Nonsense.
  16. Are you trout fishing? I wouldn't bother above the park. Smallmouth rule.
  17. I'm hungry. I'd hit that topwater right now if you threw it next to my couch Mr Bigs. Also, you bring up a great point. How willing are you (us) to throw something all day in order to catch larger fish, though not necessarily in great numbers? (My friends and I do that on the White River in January, throwing jerkbaits all day, for days straight. It takes patience and a mulish stick to it tive ness). Yes, I will be buying some. (Cue dollars leaving wallet again for lures)
  18. Dan, I don't blame the guy. If I saw you and your Schenk whatever, I'd shoot you too. (Everybody, that was a joke OK. Had nothing to do with a Schenk streamer).
  19. I agree though. Order must be kept.
  20. Do or do not. There is no try. (China? Economic war? Where did that come from? In relation to the forum subject of civility and who shouldn't post?)
  21. Great fish. Looks like you guys are in a comfy vessel too. Is that a sun shade? Good beard too.
  22. Keep going, you're getting warm. (Do I have to justify my existence on this forum?)
  23. Again: "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints." Billy Joel
  24. Well, the way I see it....never mind. (I wonder if he is talking about me?) We're on his forum because we like it. Simple as that. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't be on it. 1+1=2. That's it. Nothing more. Except..
  25. So, where are you going to put in? Cedar Ford is 9 miles up from Hwy 8. Are you putting in at 8 and paddling up? Going from Cedar Ford down?
