  1. RPS, By an unexpected coincidence I was in Springfield on Friday. I had no gear and no plans. I called Steve Dickey and we scooted over to Cricket Creek at first light Sat. morn and by noon we both had limits of specs. I normally am obsessed with the largemouth but I needed some relaxing time on the water and that was the ticket. BTW, I drove thru the storm cell Sat morn on the way down from Springfield and it included some light hail.
  2. I'm speechless. Jealous. You guys are blessed to have such a fish factory in such clean water. Very nice.
  3. Ha, that's funny there. I got out Monday about the same time up here on a small lake. It didn't matter. The wind was horrible and the wife quickly became nauseated. She is going to fish with me this year so I quickly got back on the trailer before she reconsidered. It was still fun and I caught two small bass in one hour on the LC stick.
  4. What a fish ! Did ya horse it in ? LOL !
  5. Lots of pressure, lots of fish. Like Babs says, plenty to go around. It's just as good a wee bit south but there's not quite as good of a bent rod pattern there. It all evens out.
  6. You guys are killin me. Here in Totoland we are enduring a small mini blizzard. They are calling for 4" I believe. At least it won't be 9+ for the 4th time. Sunday was the first day I saw my yard this year. Now it's completely blanketed again and coming down hard. It's getting old.
  7. Of course I'll have to be rooting for Lowen and Chapman (Tightlines), but I'm really excited to see how it unfolds. I hear Edwin, Skeet and some of the boys are running radar on their rigs. I hope that's not supposed to replace common sense (fog). We'll see.
  8. That's because you're not as thin skinned as we are up here in Totoland, LOL ! Just kidding, but a big thanks to RPS Fish don't eat what they don't see.
  9. Hey guys, I'll be working a show all weekend but checking back here every evening. 11. Hmmm, been a long time since I had one in my finger too. Hmm Sorry you had to take one for the team Denjac, but it has given me a heads up. Ever try stuffing those boogers up in your tube ?
  12. Good follow up post. Thanks. I wasn't sure Shimano was still authorizing over the counter returns/swaps with their dealers or not. That's good to know.
  13. I agree. I came in yesterday and had a package similar to one I had recently mailed. I thought for some reason it was a return. Instead it was a sweet package of Watermelon bliss stickworms from TLC bait company. SWEET !!
  14. I do think there are times one brand may elicit more response from the fish than other brands. However, the movement of the Mega bass is in my opinion what sets it apart from the others. For choosing my favorite color I like Wakin Reaction. Or else I just close my eyes and point.
  15. Here ya go. : http://www.uv-tackle.com/
  16. Just a quick shameless plug. If any of ya'll plan on giving these baits a try I'll be able to help ya get em in an affordable way . They're definitely coming. They are the future. OK, OK, I'll get down. Thanks
  17. Hey there Techo, good to see ya post up. I've noticed your absence so to speak. I've been in sort of the same situation. 2011 is gonna be a tough year for me and the misses but we got a plan and the future is promising. Up to this point I've spent the majority of my income on fishing, the rest, I wasted. I need to fish at least 2-3 times a month or I sort of disassemble slowly. More is better. Good Post.
  18. I think the leak issue has been fixed.
  19. Got that right ! I'll definitely need a clear road before I consider even a local trip, let alone one over to the Rock.
  20. I think waiting until after your guided trip to make your purchase is the smartest starting point. It gives you time to really inventory what type of fishing you usually do. It does matter. During this process you can continue to research and learn the technical specs so you understand how to compare apples to apples. As said earlier Humminbird appears to be a little easier to operate. I've got some overkill on my boat, a 997 and a 797 bird but most times I can tell my depth by sticking my rod in the water. My honest opinion is to not skimp in this dept. Better to have too much capabilities than not enough.
  21. Yes that is a lonely scene. I thought maybe I would get out last weekend but I didn't. Now we have about 7 or 8 inches of snow and there's no way I can get the champ out, unless I get the tractor involved. That probably aint gonna happen.
  22. Those spoons do look down right nice. It's been way too long since I have been on the Rock. I bought 3 Do it molds for bass jigs and have been learning this. It's fun. I may be able to put a pic up later.

    Mexico

Your point is well taken. Your point also affirms my suggestion that a person should do their due diligence when selecting a "good guide". One of the criteria in this research and selection process should definitely be personal safety and how much "seasoned " experience on this particular body of water does the prospective guide have. I'm not saying this is going to prevent all problems but if it was me I'd rather hire a guide who was on the location permanently with a "real" understanding of the situation than a guide who just shows up and guides for 2or3 months and then disappears until the same time next year. Both types of guides exist and I would feel much safer with one than I would the other. Choke Canyon with a good guide would definitely be a good U.S. Choice and I think if it were me I would also check out Squaw Creek. I think it might also be closer.

    Mexico

First I would plan on the investment of a good reputable guide. Do your research here, don't just take the word of the first person you come across. A guide that matches your wants, needs and fishing style makes a day on the water memorable in the way you want it to be memorable. I would also fish in Texas, not Mexico. Lake Falcon is producing incredible fishing. If a Texas / Mexico border lake is chosen simply stay on the Texas side. Not only will it be the safer intelligent choice, it will also be cheaper. This issue would need to be acknowledged by the guide. If you find the Texas Fishing Forum and post your concerns on the bass fishing site you will get plenty of responses. You can do a lot of research on that site. Good Luck
  25. You might look at a website called TJ'sTackle. Also check the website for Component Systems. There is also lots of good info on Tackle Underground. Hope this helps.
