I'm floating Alley to Two Rivers this Sunday. Always enough water there, but we were planning on doing a mini-float on Saturday. Was thinking Prongs for the put in but may have to go down river and float Bay Creek to Alley. Any thoughts?
  2. Great looking boat. I may be interested in a couple months, but things at work need to get in order first. Good luck
  3. I floated Pruitt to Hasty two weeks ago. Dragged about 8-10 times. I remember while driving over the Pruitt bridge seeing kids cliff diving so I'd assume there is still enough water there. Hasty looked good as well (although if you read my report you'd know the only thing I cared about at that time was being off the water)
  4. Strike-King Bitsy Tube with 1/8oz maribou jig for the hook
  5. If that was my box I'd want it back but at some point I say sell it auction style on the board (or somewhere) and donate the proceeds to a good cause.
  6. FAIR WARNING: The Huzzah on a Saturday in the summer is essentially a rave on rafts. I still got several smallies though.
  7. I floated Round Spring to Two Rivers last summer, and it was one of the best floats I have ever been on. The scenery is spectacular and there is so much current and deep water you don't know where to cast first. Kind of problem I like to have. It is also a very easy float with little paddling required due to the current. We went on a Saturday and from Williams Landing to Log Yard, there was only 1 kayak and 2 other canoes on the river. From Log Yard to the JF confluence the jet boats and rafters came out. Should be ok during the week though.
  8. Ironically this was the first float trip that I packed a little home-made first-aid kit but had no pepto tablets in it. That will be changing. I also do the gallons of drinking water from the grocery store. I poor just a little out and freeze them the day before. You can leave them outside of the cooler almost the entire time, and the ice will melt at a rate commesurate with your drinking so you'll always have enough cold water. I drank (and then threw up) the entire gallon.
  9. haha. I'm pretty sure it isn't but I know what you meant
  10. It's definitely a personal preference, but from someone that has had a sit-in and sit-on-top kayak, I really prefer the SOT. Much easier to get in and out of, you can hang your legs in the water if it gets warm, etc.
  11. First off, the river was very low but the Buffalo is a beautiful river and I can't wait to float some other sections some day. Now the interesting part. I was sick as a dog. I had (well there is no nice way to say this) diarrhea in the morning before we left camp, but I thought I was fine after even though I didn't have an appetite for breakfast. Well about 45 minutes into our 7.5 mile float I vomited the first of six times on the river. Couldn't even keep water down. Let's just say it was a miserable float (never thought I'd say that). I was dehydrated, hadn't had food since the night before, and had no energy. I guess all those things combined caused my back to hurt as well which it normally doesn't even on much longer floats. By the time we dragged all the gear and cooler up the hill at Hasty I was completely exhausted and couldn't even sit up. Not sure what made me sick but I'm still not completely right today. On a side note, my girlfriend who was on her first float was a real trooper doing most of the paddling and carrying the cooler. She may be the one.
  12. Well after checking the gauges, the river looks VERY low. Pruitt to Hasty may be our best option (but I really want to do Ponca down someday). I'm looking to stay at Dogwood Spring unless I hear differently from you guys. Thanks for the advice
  13. If you want somebody to explore with, send me a PM. I'm always looking for new places and having someone to share gas with is always a plus.
  14. It's going to be 90 degrees on Sunday and next week is the last week of classes before exams (and GRADUATION!) so I am treating myself to a float on the Buffalo. Should get down there around 7:30 Saturday evening and will be floating and driving back to Springfield Sunday. Looking for a campsite and scenic stretch of river? It will be just me and the lady.
  15. I meant to had..."or a female looking for her lost cubs that were eaten by a majle passing through Missouri from South Dakota looking for his own territory"
  16. Wow! That's close to home. I'm surprised as busy as that area is but he's probably just passing through.
  17. Check out the James River if you want to use your boat. The MDC has a couple public accesses close to town (Hootentown, Delaware, Shelvin Rock).
  18. That reminds me of a certain creek as well, but I haven't been there in almost 2 years so I can't be sure. Awesome video btw. Thanks for sharing
  19. AWESOME FISH
  20. Glad to see LOZ at #30. Gets a bad rap for the water conditions (and rightfully so in most places) but I couldn't count how many 4-5 pound bass I've caught in life there.
  21. That's what I was thinking lol
  22. I'm probably going on Sunday or early next week to see it. Went to my first Indy movie at the Moxie last week. They're actually pretty good and big name actors star in them.
  23. Thanks everybody. I had decided on the BP but when I called my friend and his family about that weekend and they had already booked a cabin in Eminence (which means they're paying!!) for our annual Jack's Fork float so this trip is getting bumped to later in the summer. We're floating the JF on Sunday so I'm trying to talk the younger people in the group to coming down earlier and hitting the Eleven Point on Saturday. Going on the Buffalo in mid July so the Piney may have to wait until early August.
  24. That would be poor wording on my part. What canoe outfitters run Mason to Slabtown and is the Forest Service Campground first come first serve? Thanks
  25. I'd like to do an overnight float, but it depends on the group.
