  1. Shot a pair of Canvasbacks last weekend with my hunting partner and now I need a Taxidermist for mounting the Drake. Anyone have suggestions? The price seems to vary some on ducks from guy to guy. If I'm going to spend this kind of money I just want a good looking wall mount in the end. Thanks, BRBF
  2. This has turned into a very informative thread. I like the lower part of taneycomo bc you don't see many boats. I just never seemed to get into many fish down there and when I did it was always trolling. I did want to bass fish down there in the summer but just never got around to it.
  3. Did not know Chesters closed. That really stinks. Another local place bites the dust to make way for the Applebees and TGI Fridays of the world. I just don't understand why people choose those kinds of places over small mom and pop establishments.
  4. Is 9.9 the max up on the Norfork River Tailwater as well as the Buffalo River?
  5. Is the motor electric start and does it come with a battery if so? Based on the pictures I assume it doesn't come with any swiveling chairs. What live wells and storage does it have?
  6. So what parts of the White can a 20 hp go/not go?
  7. Don't misintrepret that I don't think emissions shouldn't be looked at. The reality is that most American's are not willing to pay more for the goods and service that they consume in order to reduce green house gases. Secondly, most Americans are smart enough to know that doing so while India and China make no changes is also a stupid idea. The only way it will work is for all the countries to agree to reduce emissions and that simply isn't going to happen in my lifetime.
  8. I built a new blind this year at my lease and I was worried we wouldn't even get to hunt out of it as the water was about 8 feet too low which left the shore line about fifty yards from the blind. It has slowly risen to witin 15 yards of the blind until this last rain. I am excited to see how much the water came up with approx 2 inches of rain the last couple of days. Now a good cold shove the next couple of days could mean limits of greenheads.
  9. You know what I think "Threatens Wildlife"? Poaching and disregard for wildlife code. This climate business is a dead issue in a crappy economy. Beat that drum in a different decade.
  10. Nice boat. Might I suggest a few spare props
  11. lol. Thats happened before eh?
  12. The area is excellent boat fishing during 2-3 units. But I'm not going to risk being thrown in the water by myself because my trolling motor wont move me away from those obstructions when my boats naturally wants to drift toward them. The white river does as well and is much more peaceful and all around better in most ways.
  13. I don't have a $60K boat to run in there or anywhere but rather a $4,000 aluminum boat and it's all I've got. I don't want to tear my boat, prop, lower unit or even worse injure myself or my friends and family. It would be a real shame if I went less, filled my boat up at a local dock less, bought a few less jigs and flies at Lilley's and coffee. Most importantly it will be a shame if people that live further than me decide to not come to the area at all. Mr. Orvis with his orvis underware and his $1,000 outfit will be very pleased with these improvements.
  14. I agree with you and as I stated above our only chance is to ban all human activity in hellbender waterways. My point was at these population levels it may or may not prevent it.
  15. I agree this unfortunate. But we could ban people from rivers entirely and it may or may not even save a particular species. We aren't completely in control of natural selection (hence the word natural).
  16. How about banning boats and trailers or maybe just human interaction with the water all together, afterall that's the real cause. And since this is such a pressing issue why not now? Why do we need to wait until next year to get rid of them?
  17. I didn't say not do anything did I? You made that intrepretation. Which happens frequently on this forum. Let me explain what I did say. It will end up there some how some way. Have you not seen Jurasic Park?
  18. My point was/is that with a wildlife code book approaching the size of a small text book the more regulations you come up with the less likely poeple are to abide by most of any of them. They don't take the time to read it as they should. At some point will we have a test to get your fishing license like your drivers license? We are quickly approaching enough regulations to justify it. And I would venture to guess most (including a lot of you here) would fail it on a state wide test. And BTW even with banning felt this crap will end up there anyway some how some way and were will I be. Sliding around on it wishing I had my felt soled waders that are illegal.
  19. You probably enjoy our current tax code as well?
  20. This is BS there are so many regulations at these places it makes you not want to go. Slot limit here, no lead there, can't wear felt shoes, no bait this 100 feet, flies up here, not down there. I mean absolutlely mind boggling for a put and take species. If they really care ban the sale of them in Missouri and then they can buy my pair from me or give me a trade in.
  21. My link Anyone used or seen one of these?
  22. Dont make the mistake of thinking that all Dick's stores have these in stock. I was in the market for one earlier this year and after speaking to multiple managers at multiple locations I was under the impression these are shipped from a warehouse or directly from Old Towne's plants and there was no way "around" the shipping charge. I didn't try the one in IL so I can't say about it but did try all the STL and KC stores with the same results.
  23. I have not. Eager to hear what anyone has to say. You might also post under the lodging topic.
  24. Has anyone been jig fishing in the lookout to short creek area in the afternoon during generation? If so could you please provide any possible colors to use and is it a 1/8 oz jig during this generation?
